The one song that can always have me breaking my heart crying everytime I hear it. It sums up loneliness and wanting someone so much to give a damn. Waking up surrounded by me, a feeling only certain people will understand. Hoping someone will come and save you, but they don’t. I’m sorry no one came to save you, Mum.
My most played song in the 16 years I’ve had iTunes ... at last count played 1,749 times! Such a beautifully written and composed song that I never tire of.
If you like the layered orchestral synth sounds and haunting melody I think you would like the Moody Blues. Nights in White Satin is is a gorgeous song but only a small taste of the Moody Blues. Gypsy and Candle of Life are two of my favorites.
Indeed. We'd had Black Cherry & Supernature before this album was released. It took me some time to adapt back then, but it's my all-time favourite album of theirs now. It was the song "Road To Somewhere" that first hooked me in. Seems like a lifetime ago now! If I had to pick a favourite song (which isn't really possible), it would be "Melancholy Sky".
It IS beautiful. I was a huge Goldfrapp fan up until this album... I just wasn't ready for it when it was released, and I stopped listening to them for years. Now I'm going back to listen to Seventh Tree and everything they've put out since. My favorite album used to be Supernature...but now, Seventh Tree has easily surpassed it. I'm annoyed at my past self for not being able to see how good this was at the time. On the other hand, I'm kinda glad. It's like I'm getting to discover Goldfrapp all over again, and it's awesome.
I kind of Grew up in the Woods ( dirt bike Riding/Kegger Parties lolol So I get such a Kick out of watching the Foliage/leaves come Alive taking Human Form and Dancing Around ! I have never seen anything like it before nor since ! Allison has Great Voice !!
I discovered them back in '98 or so when Strict Machine was used in a GameBoy Color ad. I emailed Nintendo asking what the song was and got an answer the next day, downloaded the song, and from then on I was a fan not only of Goldfrapp, but the tech revolution.
Masterpiece IMHO this album is indeed. Not a lot of those to be found. This song has a chipper sound but is haunting. "all I wanted was you to take me out": methinks she is talking to the pills she took. that's a darkness that we all dread facing.
Back then, a dear friend of mine always would say this reminded him of me. As I went through drug addiction, nearly died 3 times and came out the other side. Times change as do people. But Jambo, I’ll never forget the help you gave me x
How GENIOUS thas is. The video, the rythm, the melody, the lyrics, everything. Should have been a worldwide smash hit! Goldfrapp has so much hidden gems to discover! It's timeless, it's unique, honey for the ears!
I gotta say, more than nearly any other song, this one always breaks my heart. It sounds like a normal sentimental love song, but listen to the lyrics and you learn its about someone who wakes up the next day after attempting an overdose suicide because of their broken heart.
That’s what the story is! Your 100% right! I started to observe that this song an the video reminded me of someone who is a victim of a kidnapping at a club on Friday night and their body was found in the middle of the forest… and she’s waking up confused and disoriented… but your interpretation makes much more sense!
The "suicide" connection is a STRETCH... As the Lyric states "I want you still"... Seems Alison is merely describing her SHEER Disappointment of Waking Up Alone in bed in her beautiful backless dress... Thank you for considering my thoughts...
I remember 15 years ago, in my bedroom, hearing this gorgeous song and feeling a beautiful sense of newness and life. Now I am 30 years old, and in line with the lyrics thinking of one of my best friend’s who topped herself. The pagan-y style of the video was very her. Thank you for the good times Nina, I won’t forget you 🤍
I have probably seen this video 1000 times... im over analyzing it like wayyyyyy toooo much. I love it, crafted with so much detail and love... just like the song.
I bought Seventh Tree when I was really young, listened to it once and shelved it. Roughly one month ago TH-cam recommended that I listen to 'ride a white horse' and since then I have rediscovered my love for this band and this album in particular. Seventh Tree is a truly fantastic album and A&E is frankly beautiful. More of the same please Goldfrapp!
Seventh tree was my 1st real wake up to Goldfrapp, every song is stunning, then i discovered Black cherry, years apart, many many years later. As with sexy sultry Moloko
Goddamn, this (and Happiness, and Caravan Girl) just make me swing from tears of sadness to tears of joy. Nothing quite like a Goldfrapp binge after staying up all night with red wine.
This is so relatable to me....a couple years back (shortly after lockdown began) I just thought FK it ...I'd had enough because I felt like my life was in ruins and my mental health in tatters ....so I just wolfed down sleeping tablets and thought "to hell with it" ...the next thing I knew it was a couple days later in A&E (only briefly conscious) and then next time I woke once again it was evening on the ward.....I'm not a weak person....not that attempting suicide makes you weak ....I just didn't try because of the COVID lockdown, alot of things had happened in my life that culminated in this ...making real music like this all the more emotional and powerful....goldfrapp is so hugely and terribly underrated ...I've been a fan since "black cherry" ,..bought the CD at 16🤗😊
The video is the perfect complement to the song. Brilliantly made. Funny ironic surface over deep sadness and loneliness, and then a cup of tea at the end to make things better. Up there with Sledge Hammer, etc.
This video makes me giggle and burst of joy. The dancing leafs bodies are just terrific. Such smooth transitions and seeing Will at the end is just the ticket. Love it xx
When the video to this song starts out, it builds up to a rather happy, rapture of pleasure... and then that moment, because you're listening to the lyrics, as well, your heart suddenly sinks, because this is about something heart-wrenching and bleak. What a beautiful video... Goldfrapp, you guyz never cease to amaze me with your art, man. Love! 3:)
A favorite from Seventh Tree and this version looks stunning compared to what was available before. I'm glad to see more of these restorations making their way onto You Tube. XX
Human nature....you're in a time of need and comfort....plain and simple....they do a wonderful job of portraying emotions through their music and video. Chill people. Accidents do happen, unfortunately, and to hear her voice is rather soothing for me knowing what I have been through (car accidents, etc.).
I love and respect how Goldfrapp continues to reinvent their sound, point of view, style, music, etc etc… to never conform to one type of genre or only do something that’s commercial or mainstream.
La I love you Alison Goldfrapp. ❤❤😂🎉
I think it's about having a seizure on the floor and she thinking of him as the first person to call, but he doesn't answer. Yes I am also overwhelmed by the happy tone of this song but I think it makes it better!! Songs don't have to be straightforward, I think they have to hide something to make them mysterious and challenging.
I personally think that the choreography of this video is what makes it's charm. The fact that it isn't perfect, it isn't in perfect sync and almost clumsy is what makes it perfect. Especially in a world where image is everything, it must be tight and in formation... This throws the rulebook back at the perfect world.. Either that or it's shoddy because them leaf people can't see a bloody thing!
2008 - my first lover had just died in 2007 and I was running so hard away from grief until it really hit me that winter- this album was such a poignant soundtrack to my everyday life at the time- so wild.
Loved the song and now I love the video too. Very creative and strangely tender with that friendly dancing leaf monsters. This album is full of great songs. Love this kind of new direction in the sound of Goldfrapp.

Oh me too, was and still am obsessed with it, the musical complexity and layers is just amazing
If you like the layered orchestral synth sounds and haunting melody I think you would like the Moody Blues. Nights in White Satin is is a gorgeous song but only a small taste of the Moody Blues. Gypsy and Candle of Life are two of my favorites.
😫💜! Amazing!
I love everything she has ever done 😊❤️
Absolutely! Very well said! Isn’t it funny how one can’t explain the magnificence of art? You can only experience it for yourself!
As big of a genre shift as this was for them, this is hands down my favorite Goldfrapp song. It really is the definition of beautiful.

@@MsFuzzipoo I know Exactly what you mean ! Thank God for You Tube !! LOLOLOLHAHA
Only discovered Goldfrapp recently at 53 years of age . Loving their style. 💎
Wow your in for a treat
I discovered them back in '98 or so when Strict Machine was used in a GameBoy Color ad. I emailed Nintendo asking what the song was and got an answer the next day, downloaded the song, and from then on I was a fan not only of Goldfrapp, but the tech revolution.
@@akiramenai4973- Strict Machine is off their second album Black Cherry which was released in 2003.
Still listening in July 2024. Still brings all the feels. 🩶
There's a really understated sense of humour to most things Goldfrapp produces

Seventh tree is a masterpiece 🖤

Absolute perfection. What a poet. Love Alison Goldfrapp.
Revisiting during Covid 19 lockdown .. what a tune while I'm feeling lonely, feeling blue...
yup .... you should look up "saying something" justin timberlake .... yup i know
not a good guy ... but trust me ... its a bit special :-)))
Saw them live 3 times. Beautiful underrated band.
Lucky you!!
Never seen them tour in the US. Been into Goldfrapp for 14 years
Back then, a dear friend of mine always would say this reminded him of me. As I went through drug addiction, nearly died 3 times and came out the other side. Times change as do people. But Jambo, I’ll never forget the help you gave me x

Gosh, Alison has a voice like an angel, all her songs are amazing. She reminds me sometimes of Kate Bush's voice, but more melodious
Seventh tree goldfrapp is the best goldfrapp
Best Goldfrapp album and one of the best albums of the early millenium.
Just everything about this song.... masterpiece!
Thank you Allison Goldfrapp.
No one else could make this as good…..her voice is perfect!
Perfection! Alison Goldfrapp is last relevant visual music artist.
Their music is totally underrated and Alisons voice is by far one of the best around! Loving it
And so it was that this song played in my head as I waited at A&E for a psych evaluation. 🌺
I hope things are improving for you, friend.
This was my FAVORITE album from Goldfrapp
The significance of the video is that nature has the power to heal a broken heart and just as the seasons so too will our suffering pass.
I love your analysis. and I LOVE this video!
I love Goldfrapp, she has such a huge vocal range in this song.
ANYTHING these people touch turns to gold. Period.
I could eat Goldfrapp's music... all of it. And save my favorites for dessert... all... at... once. 3:)
I gotta say, more than nearly any other song, this one always breaks my heart. It sounds like a normal sentimental love song, but listen to the lyrics and you learn its about someone who wakes up the next day after attempting an overdose suicide because of their broken heart.
Woah. I've just realised that.

THATS THE ONE
So true ❤️🩹
The "suicide" connection is a STRETCH...
As the Lyric states "I want you still"...
Seems Alison is merely describing her SHEER Disappointment of Waking Up Alone in bed in her beautiful backless dress...
Thank you for considering my thoughts...
One of my favorite Goldfrapp songs.
Haven't heard this for ages. Still brilliant!

Goldfrapp is beautiful.
Bliss, Goldfrapp have never disappointed, they make great music, emotive, melodic and with a touch of odd.
I have probably seen this video 1000 times... im over analyzing it like wayyyyyy toooo much. I love it, crafted with so much detail and love... just like the song.

Goldfrapp fan since their very first album but this is their best song on their best album. Magnificent
My favourite Goldfrapp single. I just never get tired of it.
every time I hear crows I think of this song...its such a crafted song, love it. Thank you Goldfrapp
Goddamn, this (and Happiness, and Caravan Girl) just make me swing from tears of sadness to tears of joy. Nothing quite like a Goldfrapp binge after staying up all night with red wine.
i absolutely agree! Did help me out of crisis and sadness.
Great song and very much under rated and appreciated.

Love her voice ❤️ and the Will Gregory is killer on the music production

They never fckn cease tae fckn amaze me n aw
Forrest creatures, Alison with her appearence and beautiful voice and at the end Will with a cup of tea...all of that makes this video so special :-)
It's the cup of tea makes it!
This song is bursting with so much love it almost makes me want to cry
A beautiful and sad song about wanting companionship! I love her singing voice and the musical arrangements.
whenever I need soothing I come to goldfrapp
+Psychokitten113 that's what I do as well
A favorite from Seventh Tree and this version looks stunning compared to what was available before. I'm glad to see more of these restorations making their way onto You Tube. XX
As much as I joke about the video it is pleasant to watch and looks like it was a lot of fun to film.
I never knew she had a video to this. I love this song, and I really enjoyed the video.
I love bright happy songs about overdosing on drugs
The kettle whistling at the end made me happy.
This makes me smile
CLASSIC!💫💟🌈
Beautiful song
Nearly brings tears to my eyes every time I listen and watch the video.
Ho conosciuto i Goldfraf solo recentemente e devo dire che sono fantastici. Le melodie e i temi musicali mi hanno rapito.
So underrated. Still gets me years later...
i have seen this woman live she is the most amazing performer i hope she carys on
How can this utter masterpiece have less than 1m views?!
Human nature....you're in a time of need and comfort....plain and simple....they do a wonderful job of portraying emotions through their music and video. Chill people. Accidents do happen, unfortunately, and to hear her voice is rather soothing for me knowing what I have been through (car accidents, etc.).
I sang this *so* many times at the local Karaoke bar. I thought I was doing great, but nobody cared.
Everybody was just requesting "Bad Romance".
I love and respect how Goldfrapp continues to reinvent their sound, point of view, style, music, etc etc… to never conform to one type of genre or only do something that’s commercial or mainstream.
love the ghillie suits. this was an original way to put it in a music video. Love goldfrapp

Such a beautiful song. I remember the first time I heard it and it gave me shivers
Still one of my favourite music videos!
Beautifully heart breaking 💔
Still my favourite.
What a clear voice! I wish I had known her from further back : )
Goldfrapp are made of awesome.
So glad I recently discovered Goldfrapp. Good music.

Favourite Goldfrapp Song LOVE IT!
2008 - my first lover had just died in 2007 and I was running so hard away from grief until it really hit me that winter- this album was such a poignant soundtrack to my everyday life at the time- so wild.
Possibly my favourite song ever
Loved the song and now I love the video too.
Very creative and strangely tender with that friendly dancing leaf monsters.
This album is full of great songs. Love this kind of new direction in the sound of Goldfrapp.
Still loving this song after years and years of listening to it on my way to work. Makes my day automatically better.
I love this song so so much. Her voice is just wondrous in both ears
one of the best songs ever written
I am in and e in a backless dress at the moment and so are my fellow patients and I I’m sharing this with them and it usually elicits a tear or two
I forgot what a cool video this is, in addition to an almost impossibly gorgeous song.
amazing song
probably the best song (and video) ever. .
I love GoldFrapp!
Listening to this on a blue, bright blue, Saturday.

Sometime's i alway's love hearing this song it's been my fav song for year's :)
Hooray for one of my favourite songs from you!
Lovely vocal from Alison.
Still remember coming down to my family computer to watch this video before going to high school...this and checking the updates on Smash Bros Brawl
Absolute masterpiece - can't wait to see you support Scissor Sisters when you tour the UK in 2025
This song is beautiful.
This is how I actually felt coming out of A&e in 1968!
