    I’ve been a Google Calendar user but recently gave Fantastical another run and signed up for premium. We think alike. Some of the features I already had, but others I was happy to pay for. The natural language makes it really easy to add events on the fly on my iPhone. If you type “to do” when entering, it converts it to a task, so no need to even choose between task or to do list.

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh cool! Thanks for the 'to do' tip!

  • @samlui3591

    Honestly the templates feature alone is what makes the premium worth it.

      Yeah I'm liking it as well.

      So what do you do with iCal once you get it? Delete it
      ?

  •  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Actually, the very last part of your video is the one that makes the difference for me; having the openings as an equivalent of Calendly for much cheaper is the premium feature that is worth it. All other features are, as you mentioned, either free on ical or quality of life

    Honestly, I’m not really missing anything in the free version for me. If I do get an apple watch I guess I would buy premium, but everything else works great. I have integrated google calendar and Todoist and it works great. The weather? I honestly just use the iOS weather app for 100x more information. Travel times? I made a separate calendar for transport, which is way more convenient for me cause I can look in the future of all times I have to use transportation

    • @justnaturalcake1

      €7 for me is quite a lot, but I don’t have a job yet so I guess that’s why, I think around €5 would seem fair to me

    Hi Paul! Thank you very much for your video. I have a question, do you still need to have apple calendar and reminders downloaded on your phone? Because I see there is a bit of interference, receiving notification, or Siri adding the task to calendar and then synchronize it instead of doing it straight away in fantastical

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I assume not as you can just connect your Apple account. I'd suggest disabling the notifications for the Apple Calendar/Reminders (this is what I've done).

    • @minor-co

      Personally I prefer Apple Calendar. As a heavy Apple user it just makes sense to use the app if I'm using Apple devices.

      @@minor-codefinitely it’s about simplicity & minimalistic approach. The worst thing you can do is be all over the place regarding ecosystem. No ecosystem is 100% perfect. Pick one and stick to it.

    Just a basic question, and thanks. If I start using Fantastical do I need to continue using another calendar app and Reminders. I would imagine the idea is to abandon the other apps and let this one take over the job?

    I dont get how you can create all these separate calendars and avoid schedule conflicts. You had alot of overlapping time blocks.

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? I actually don't have a lot of overlapping blocks (compared to most people). But in Calendly which I use for scheduling meetings, I can specify which calendars are checked for conflicts so it's not an issue for me.

    Hello! It’s been long since you made videos regarding softwares I could use. I’m wondering why to move to fantastical (free version) instead of apple calendar?
    (Using Todoist already)

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me personally, there are a few features like Calendar Sets (which Apple Calendar doesn't have) which I really like. I'm not sure I'd get enough value from the free version but I was happy to pay for the additional features.

    • @callmeNeno
      @callmeNeno ปีที่แล้ว

  • @wherezthebeef
    @wherezthebeef ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video :0) Apple Calender is at least a decade behind... if this is how important Apple views it's own Calendar, from the richest company on Earth, then I also have zero use for it. Fantastical is the way to go, or if not tied down to Apple ecosystem, many other more inspiring alternatives. Insane how many Apple users (Macs, iOS) use Google Calendar because Apple Calender is just so dumbed down and feature lacking.

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah it's an interesting one... I've been using Apple Calendar for years and have been very happy. I think Apple just likes to keep their default software nice and simple for users (which is what they're best known for). And Apple Calendar is going to work fine for most people. But they count on third-party developers to create software for the power users like us.
