Pro tip for students: have a calendar for deadlines and put all your hw deadlines there (as an all-day event), and also have a "personal deadlines" calendar where you mark the same hw but a few days before (whenever you're free), this will be very helpful to organize when you want to do your hw so you don't end up doing them on the due day.

I mean when one thinks of a calendar we all know what it’s for, but what we don’t know is the extent that said calendar can be used! I was also able to use it as a data analysis tool to show when I was productive most often, and when I needed to take breaks so I didn't burn out while working on my goals. Thanks for sharing these tips!
Your tip to add additional calendars for events that are optional (in your case, professor office hours- in my case, optional coworking times with certain people!) is SO USEFUL!

I only leave the house for grocery shopping, so I don't need to schedule anything. With that being said, I use Scrivener to schedule my year. Oh, and a cooking tip: if you run bacon under cold water, or place them into a bowl of cold water, they won't shrink while cooking.

A calendar is a must for me. I have a calendar for work (MS Office), a calendar on my phone (iCAL where I also record work meetings) and I also keep a handwritten diary for personal events and information and for me and my Mother who I care for. It seems a lot but it's the best way that I found for keeping me organised. Creating coloured categories in Outlook works well so that I can track projects.

My husband gave me a 2023 diary for my birthday and I've literally only written two things in there. I use my phone for everything. That's why I use the default calendar on my phone. The best way to organise your calendar to stay productive is by keeping it simple
I have been trying to master my calendar for years but it always falls apart when I get out of school for the summer or winter. The way I think about it can be summed with this phrase "Its easy to manage your time when you don't have much of it". If anyone has any suggestion on how to keep planning when there's not an outside force setting deadlines please let me know! p.s. this was a great video :D
I remember running into this exact problem during my 3rd college summer - it was the first one where I didn't have a summer job and was just doing freelance work/blogging. And yep, it's hard to manage your time when there's tons of it! Lots of "Well, I've got all day to do that..." What worked for me was using commitment devices like Beeminder and Habitica to set my own deadlines. These tools were EXTREMELY effective in late college and during my early years as a full-time creator. I have noticed recently that they don't work as well for me anymore; what tends to work better are work relationships that include real accountability, along with working with coaches. However, I'll still recommend trying them as they served me well for many, many years!
Thanks for all the tip. I didn’t finish the video yet. Right now stop at 3:56. I happen to notice do you really take 2 naps in a day? If yes, for how long? Very interesting
A good tip I created is to add a 'Unsure' event in your calendar. For example- I try to wake up every morning at 4:30am and study for two hours. But obviously, not all days goes as planned. Now, the unsure event comes to play. I add the unsure event from 4:30am to 5:30am and then plan self-study to 5:30am to 7:30am. If I wake up earlier than that, say 5:00am or even 4:30am. I give myself a break in the remaining time, as my goal is to study two hours every morning.
This is awesome, thank you!😊😊 I love you videos! 💜💜 Great information presented in such an organized, concise, and clear way. I love the structure of the video and the recap at the end. One question for you: why do you prefer fantastical over todoist?
I use paper calendar day to day & then use iCal when traveling or out of pocket. Check cal every morning or night before and if it’s super important while traveling or out of pocket will set a notification. Other than that no notification and it works well for me. All the apps and things are cool but they are too much for me and I agree that you say find what works for you
One of the best tips I've taken up for calendar management is to add the commute/away time for a tasks IN the task in the calendar. If I have an appointment 30 min drive from home, I add this time both before and after - this helps in multiple ways: I don't forget how long it takes me to get there and end up in a hurry. When my notification is set on 15 minutes before the time I have to leave I have plenty of time to quit what I'm doing and get ready. Also it tells my colleagues about the whole time I'm busy/away, and they can easily see that I'm not free for meetings etc and find another time for schedule something I need to attend to. Commute times are always rounded up to at best possible guess depending on when/where and how I'm getting there, which helps me not getting late because of traffic/trip taking longer than expected etc. The exact starting time and length for the appointment is written inside the calendar tasks together with all other necessary info to look up if I need it.
So I been doing a lot of this for years with mixed results. I even tried to do a mix of physical and digital. Digital is my master and physical is that day. I stopped adding tasks to the digital and narrowed that to just physical. I will agree with bickering. I started doing this as weel: personal, work, daughter's school. I added bills and pay days as well. It has helped. There is always room to improve. I haven't done the physical portion lately gonna get back to that
For me its best to have a digital calendar to be able to see it all on the go when i need to make appointments when i am out and it can give me alerts to help me remember all my appointments
Something that is great about an calendar, is that you can plan stuff. If you really want to know some history. People like facts such as months: January, February, and March is celebrated by white people, April is shared by africans, months like May, June, July, and August by mexicans, and you have September, October, November, and December is enjoyed by asians.
