Forgive me for not thinking of that BUT the pipe over the faucet was worth video!..I had been filling up the mop bucket with a pitcher..simply great ideas. Thanks
I so love that
Let me tell you how I handle it when I need water so fast 😂 I tape a trash bag on the tap and turn on the water ...
Great simple video.
I’ll be stripping and waxing a floor tomorrow for my job for the first time and I can always appreciate a job well done both with the floor and instructions in video. Thank you for the help!
Came out very nice 😊
What buffer did you use? Do you need high speed? Thinking about buying a swirly for carpet VLM not sure if it can be used for this?
This is actually not called a buffer. This is a low speed floor scrubber. Some people also call it a 175 because it is a 175 rpm machine. I dont use a particular brand. They are pretty much the same. I do prefer the 20 inch version for vct stripping. For vlm carpet cleaning I would get a smaller one like an Oreck Orbitor. I have VLMed carpet with the 20 in machine but it is a little hard to handle.
You made it look easy! Question, how long to dry, and how much time between coats? I’m doing carpet, tile & grout cleaning with a truck mount, but was asked today about strip and wax. Of course I said I can do it lol, so now I gotta learn before they decide on when to do it. I’ve seen it done plenty of times in person, but just the different steps here and there. Never really paid attention to how much time between coats
With good air flow, the wax can dry in 25- 30 mins. As soon as its dry it is ready for another coat. Be sure to check each coat to make sure it is completely dry in all areas. Air movers are a must-have.
@@Metalhead0426 thank you!
Myself I apply to the entire room at once. Keep it wet for 25min. then auto scrubber (Viper 20”) squeegee up vac off solution off pass over each row of tile. Then on final pass solution (Water) on squeegee down vac on and make 2nd. pass over each row. Then use maroon surface prep for final rinsing with stride neutral cleaner. Rinse equipment and lay first coat wall to wall. Leave the next 2 coats 12-14” from baseboard except door ways, then last coat wall to wall using betco express 15min. Dry time up to 5 coats in one hour
That also looks like 9”x9” asbestos and isn’t allowed to be stripped on scrub and recoat without EPA violations. May be 12”x12” but has same pattern as old asbestos tiles
@@KodyBaker00 how do you test it for asbestos? I was just called for my 3rd strip and wax job. I had no idea about asbestos tiles
the second and third layers of wax are applied once the first layer has dried??
Yes. I usually give it around 30 mins in between coats to dry.
How about corners? Do you use water and mop to pick up stripper?
Yes anything else that is left can be mopped up. Just keep an eye on the water to make sure it does get too contaminated with stripper.
Wow I have this IN
MY APARTMENT tho!
Do you like the Viper more than the Kaivac?
Well I like the Viper for the simple fact that I dont have to squeegee as much any more lol. This is the first and only one I've had.
I'm trying to buy the spartan products but I can't find them. Where to buy them?
I buy the wax and stripper locally at Brady IFS. But I also see where you can buy it on Amazon if you cant find another distributer.
I would like to know what kind of vaccum that was.
This one is Viper branded. Basically a vacuum with front mounted squeegee
What was the name of that vacuum machine??
This one is Viper brand but same as this one. @@Metalhead0426 thank you. I hope my company will pay for it. Bc we’re doing it all with mops and scrubbing
I thought you were supposed to cover the wall borders to avoid getting any floor stripper on them. Also u would love to know if tou let the floor dry on it's own between each coat or if you had a fan going..
You can cover the base boards if you feel it is necessary. We never do.
On the wax drying, I prefer for it dry on it's on so not to stir up any dust. Always have some fans just in case.
@@Metalhead0426 ok cool! Thank you!
those waves arent going to cause that much stripper to be left behind i use the same machine and I work on a building where they laid the tile over a dirty floor which left massive waves.. my fix was to replace the builds frequently maybe once every couple of weeks cause the blades will ware out decently fast cause of the stripper all its good to wipe the blades to get out any gunk you are dragging to keep maximum contact with the floor hope this helps
Thanks. We were new to using the machine. We realized that we didnt have the blades all the way down
How much did you charge the church?
I dont remember exactly. Some where around 1k.
I was stripping one room for 3days... Layers upon layers wax and never end
Price per sq ft ?
The price per square footage depends on your area. For instance, in the south where I am located prices are around .75 per sf but in California it could be as high as $2 per sf.
What do you think good price to charge a Costco in Michigan?
$3 per square foot @@chingosote
Well u showed the process of stripping and waxing the large open area, but what about the small rooms, restroom, etc with obstacles to work around. Thats where is gets interesting and noone seems to show those areas on video.
Same process but a little slower and do smaller sections. I will try to include some smaller areas in my next video
