    From what I understand, the Tesla charging stations are software configurable by the property owner to provide power either to any vehicle that plugs in or only to Teslas. Just something to keep in mind in future tests.

      That is correct, There is a two switch DIP switch next to the rotary switch inside GEN 2 Tesla Wall Connectors which is what most Tesla Destination Chargers are. On pg. 20 of the install manual it shows the switch, UP is Tesla Only, Down is normal J1772 compatible mode for all EV's. The current manual doesn't reveal this but that's what it's for. This is how I and a few other have been able to change the whip to a J1772 and have it work.
      The Original Tesla-to-J1772 (TeslaTap) adapter from umc-j1772 has a circuit inside they call a bypass circuit to send the Charging Station into State "C" as soon as the Tesla plug is inserted into the adapter, you then wait 30 seconds for the Destination Charger to engage and then plug the J1772 end into your vehicle. This is how they deal with the Tesla Only mode inside Destination Chargers with the second DIP switch in the UP position.

  • @eketelon
    @eketelon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    According to the "other" videos I've seen, you were supposed to wait like 30 seconds after connecting the adapter to the tesla adapter before plugging it in to the car.

    I have a Wrangler 4xe and a Tesla charger at home use that exact Lectric adapter every single day.
    I make sure the adapter is connected to the Tesla adapter for at least 30 seconds to a full minute as the instructions say before plugging it in. When I plug it in I get the red-blue-green, red-blue-green, red….and then flashing green.
    I have my charger set to All Cars (not Tesla Only) and I have a 48 amp circuit. Could it be that Tesla charger is not set to “All Cars” or that is has more amperage? Or maybe you didn’t give it those 30 seconds to configure or that you’re using an older version of the adapter?

    The Lectron adapter he used did not work with our new 2024 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4Xe and our Tesla Mobile connector in our garage. I tried two other adapters (Nivion 80Amp and Seguma), which were recommended by others on You Tube, and they did not work either. I spoke to three different tech departments and no one was able to solve the problem. The Tesla charger works fine with our Tesla and the Jeep factory charger works fine with the Jeep. I did everything all of the tech people suggested I do to trouble shoot the problem. I waited 30 seconds after I connected the adapter to the Tesla connector before plugging into the Jeep, I tried starting the Jeep while connected to clear the message on the dashboard, I disconnected everything and reconnected everything three times, I bought the 80 Amp version of the Nivion adapter bc someone said the 48 Amp version wouldn't work, I tried a brand new Tesla Mobile Connector I had which came with our second Tesla, and so on. Nothing works. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks for taking the hit first. I believe Tesla supercharger are proprietary and exclusive level 3 DC (480 volts). The wrangler 4xe only supports level 2 because it does not have a dual connection with a fast charge DC (at least my Rubicon 4xe doesn’t). Even if it did, the vehicle (or adapter dongle) would need to communicate with the charger. My previous EV (BMW i3) wouldn’t charge on Tesla Supercharger because of this. However, wouldn’t be surprised if Jeep adds the extra fast charge DC port when and if they increase the 4xe battery size for future models.

  • @JeromeKJones

    According to other vids that adapter will NOT work with Tesla chargers over 40 amps. So if that was a Tesla Super Charger, that is why it did not work. I would be interested to find out however. Could you do a vid where you check the charger amps or type first and then try it out?

    Well to charge a Tesla in public you need a Tesla account tied to a credit card. No free electricity. I have a Model S with a Tesla wall charger installed (level 2). I also have a Rubicon. Thinking about buying a 4xE and using my Tesla wall charger for it also. You should try and find a residential Tesla charger. Also the chargers you tried in your video I’m pretty sure are “destination chargers” usually at hotels. When you check in to your room tell them you have a Tesla and they will turn on the charger. If you don’t have a room, they’ll usually still let you use it for a small fee as long as a guest isn’t using it. These chargers usually charge at anywhere from 27mph to 40mph. I wouldn’t plug it into a Tesla Supercharger, you may end up splitting an Atom. 😅 Superchargers can charge as fast as 400 miles per hour. Keep up the videos, I’m finding them super useful! My current 2013 URubicon is just about due for an upgrade, and I’m considering a 4xE. 👍🏽👍🏽

      The Federal Governments it’s the one that it’s going to exercises the use for a “universal @ adapter. That happened back in the 80’s when every auto manufacturer had their exclusive adapter to diagnose the Check Engine Lamp , then came the OBD port for Diagnose every auto. It will happen, it’s a matter of time.

When plugging into the 4XE it errors for a couple seconds then clicks in and starts to charge. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TP9VSQM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
