- Part 1 removal of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe sky one touch power top. I’ll show you tips on how to remove the top without damaging your Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Bolts are different length they MUST go back in the same place. BOLT PLACEMENT IS CRUCIAL OR DAMAGE COULD OCCOUR TO THE FRAME. Jeep jl

The top assembly is recommended to not be removed due to the fact that they say it is extremely difficult to get the rails perfectly lined up upon putting the roof back on so the roof may be prone to leak upon reinstallation. Let us know if you have a leaking issue moving forward please

Looks to me like the alignment rails are contained in the top that removes. Did it go back on ok?

I get that, but I have more fun with it off reading and tearing it up than using it as a daily. To save $$$ I learned through trial n error paint and scratch repair. First week I had mine I took it to mammoth mountain and broke her in... many pin stripes😳😳😳
Why don't they make this for the 2dr? The 2dr is just being shit on lately. No 392. No diesel. So more Sahara. Such a shame. The 2dr is what started jeep and fiat is shitting on it

Great video but I would never remove the top. Too risky. If it’s not perfectly lined up, noise and leakage will be guaranteed. And personally I don’t understand why I have to remove the top... I paid $4,000 for the sky one touch... to make things easier, no reason to remove it for me 😂
Right?! Defeats the whole purpose of the one touch! I’m getting one touch because it’s the best of both worlds and the most practical for me; I don’t have anyone to help me take the hard top off & I don’t have a garage to store it
Waiting to see if he runs into any issues putting it back on. I’ve had mine for two years no issues. I would like to remove it for the summer though...southern Cali weather...
Well the one touch is famous for horrible leaks from the factory

@@BrandonHaneline I've never seen one in person, we've always had hardtops year round. But I've heard on different forums when they were first made that they would leak pretty decently, I know the Jeep Liberty Sky Top was pretty mucn the same thing and I knoe they leaked bad, but by 2021 I'm sure jeep has figured a way to stop it by now

So it seems like you could just LEAVE the Skyway top (even retracted?) and take off the rear and side panels. (of course along with the doors)

Thanks for posting this, couldn't find this information anywhere. Very curious what would be involved in switching this out with a factory or aftermarket hardtop. Mostly seems the front overhead trim pieces would need replacing? I think these roofs are great right now... but doubt I will want to keep up with it years down the road. Thanks again for posting!

Therefore, I would like to know, if it was possible to exchange the complete Sky One Touch roof construction against an original hardtop later .
Do you know, if the complete front window including frame needs to be replaced or just some conection points on the top of the front window frame?

Maybe you should measure each bolt and show diagram of where they go on the panels in case someone take thr top off. And mixes up the bolts.

It appears that if you remove bolts 6-8 that you can easily remove the back window. Correct?
not sure if I’ll try that though. It is the structural support for the sky one touch power top
I purchased the sky top on my 2020 Rubicon it was a 3,900 option I believe now it's a $2,000 option quite a price deduction
It is not a $2,000 option. It’s a $4,000 option on the 2021 Rubicon.

I love learning how to take everything apart by watching you do it first. I was especially interested in my power top. I am smarter now. Next I need to figure out what to do if and when my sky top fails in the open position. Of course this will happen most likely when I am out of town maybe in the bush somewhere. Is there a way to manualy close it if its motor fails? I may have to carry a bit of polly and duct tape just in case. However I LOVE my sky top. Also I am finding all the videos about the 4XE very interesting. Thanks Brandon.
they say that it is possible to convert hard top jl wrangler into power top version. does anyone know anything about this ??? however they say it is not easy to do.
Interesting how it can be done. Not that I would if I had the cash for the Jeep. If I had the Jeep I’d take the doors off and maybe those rear windows with the 1 touch top and go no further.

Just thought of something you said about just having your back window up. Saw someone today with theirs up and thought, yea a rock could hut the window. BUT, with the sky top.... the cover retracted us like a guard for rocks. One more awesome feature of this option!

I have had my 4XE for about two months with the sky one touch top and literally was going to trade it in for a 4xe hardtop because I thought it could not be removed! I currently have a hoist system from my 2019 hardtop installed and am going to figure out how to use that to lift the One Touch! Life Saver Brandon! Thank you

No you cannot go from a hard top to the Sky one touch. Because of the wiring. But you can go from a SOT to a hardtop.
Why not leave the rear window attached to the top and remove it as one assembly? Less harnesses to uncouple and a couple less bolts.
That is true. It was my first time taking it off. Also. It would be heavier. If you had a winch system it would work great!!

Great tutorial video. Question, Since removing and reinstalling have you had any issues with wind noise, water leaking etc? I’m looking at purchasing a 20’ Rubicon with the one touch roof.

Thanks for the video. It is not clear what type of bolts are : Allen ?? , Torx ?? . In addition of the unique bolt placement and, as an advice from a Experience Mechanic and Auto body Technician: First, place very well the Allen or Torx bit , 2nd , loose those bolts with a ratchet ( to break Bolt Torque and Tension if any ) and then, use slowly the drill or driver to take them out. Those type of bolts are prone to wear if the bit is not correctly in place. Again , thank for your video, very helpful!!!

Great video! There’s ton of people saying it can’t be removed. BTW, do you know where can this hard top be purchased?
I like that it is easily (somewhat) removable. I like the sky top but I believe a similar design on the Liberty had problems long term. With this being fairly easy to remove if it ever fails and you can't get it fixed/replaced it looks like you could easily put any number of aftermarket soft tops on in its place.

You can’t do this. There are no latches above the visors on the sky on touch models.
Hi Brandon, great videos .. can you possibly tell me how I can tell if my forward collision warning is working ? I have it set to far and for the 2 weeks of ownership I cannot get it to activate.. maybe that’s a good thing but I actually tried getting close to someone and did not work.

Brandon, thank you. I have watched this a dozen times with this question proving difficult to answer. Can you come back and install a MOPAR soft top in place of the One-Touch top. I'm pretty sure I see all of the machining required to do that in your video, although some of it is covered by plastic. The question is, to a guy that has done it, could you come back and install a Mopar Premium Twill softop on your jeep that came with the One-Touch top? I can't seem to get a straight answer to this. Thank you.
This look like way too much hassle. I am debating myself if should i get color match 3 pieces top or one touch, just because of how easy is to remove the entire back when u go with 3 piece, but mean time love the ability to one touch open the entire roof.

Absolutely. With the sky one touch off you can put soft or hard top on.

Yes you can remove this and add a hard or soft top. Just some minor changes to the header latches. They would be bolt ons though

because are customizable to suit your current need. I bought my jeep from factory with a hard top and soft top. I hate the soft top on road trips because its too loud and if it rains it leaks a couple drops when passing semi trucks or going over coastal bridges in high winds, also its not color matched. My color matched hard top looks good,. but is a pain in the neck to remove for anything less a perfectly sunny 7 day forecast. I would love the sky one touch because it seems like the best of both worlds, but then I can't have my rhino rack or RTT. So most people probably have multiple needs for more than one type of top. I would probably rock the sky one 99% of the time and throw on my hard top when I go on vacation and want to use my RTT.
I’m doing it to prevent damage when going through the squeeze in Anza. Also plan on removing all doors and top for sept rubicon trip.

Once the one touch is removed, is the remaining form factor compatible with the three piece roof or other aftermarket tops? For example, could a One Touch be converted to a standard three-piece by just removing it and buying a standard hard top?

I think it would be a doable and marketing-viable project to make a kit for all these things to be an even easier and quicker event for top and rear window removal. :)
Where do you store the top? It’s a large heavy, single-piece. Is there a 3rd party rack or stand for it or a protective zipper bag? Laying it on concrete is asking for tears and woe.

Cool. Please post a reinstall video! Also, does anyone happen to have a copy of the Jeep service manual portion about removing and reinstalling the one touch? Although they claim it's non removable, I guarantee the dealership has had to replace them due to failure or accidents. There must be a procedure.

I’m curious about the sunroof receiving panel that runs across the windshield header. Once the sky one touch is off, there’s no way to attach a different top, like a soft top.
I believe there is a way to add soft top brackets. I’ve seen in another video.
Is the only thing preventing the front windshield from folding down, those two front bolts for the roof?

Love the videos! I didn't even know about the JEEP 4xe until I saw your videos, first one was the Drag Race video! I've always wanted to own a Jeep Wrangler, I've owned 2 new Jeep Cherokees. AND the 4xe looks perfect (would like more erange, but 21->30 is ok).

Yes sir it does. Or at least loosen it to drop the windshield for repairs.

Any ideas on how to stop the squeaky sound from the removable rear windows? Sounds like styrofoam constantly being rubbed together, jeep was no help.

I hear ya brother. If an owner is not mechanical inclined. I don’t suggest it. It really wasn’t hard. No different than a hard top removal.

I have a really IMPORTANT question, am I able to remove just the whole rear panel with out removing the top? Or maybe just removing the rear glass safely? I know ALOT of people in the forums and social media are trying to do this, but no one has really done anything at attempting this. PLEASE WE NEED a way to remove either one.

@@BrandonHaneline When driving with the top off, the doors off and rear side panels off, a vortex forms in the rear trunk due to the rear window not allowing full airflow, also it drags down the jeep and puts lots of pressure on the rear window. A lot of people are driving with the window prompt open, but that can go really bad in so many ways, specially in the highway.
It can be removed but I wouldn’t suggest it because it is the support for the frame of the sky one touch. I would be more willing to remove the rear glass. It’s super easy.

Hi Brandon, I just got my 4xe with Sky one touch. It has lot of dust on it and the dealer did not washed it fully before delivering it to me. Can I take it to the automatic self car wash service ? I am scared that the big rotating brush will spoil the sky one touch top. Any suggestions?

I would remove the trip. They should be there.
