$10,000 would have been a more realistic and fair price.
The 100 hrs he mentioned couldn't have included all he invested in term of design and build time and materials, wear and tear, travel time etc tc.

$40 an hour for 100 hours of unskilled work is extortionate. This kind of artless epoxy stuff has been done to death. It's a roughly constructed and rough looking upside down chopping board with legs. He did well to sell it for $4K.

Beautiful work. I've been suspending burl "islands" in resin for years for clients with only the resin holding everything together and with no flood coats on the top or the bottom, just seamless transitions between timber and resin like you do. I've had absolutely no issues at all with things coming apart. The largest table I've done so far was an $18,000 piece that was 3m x 1.3m with three independent steel legs that went all the way across the width of the table at both ends and the middle so the client could get 10 chairs around it. Your bench uses way less resin and is more than twice as thick so there's absolutely no reason why all of your work wouldn't stand up to the test of time as long as everything is appropriately dry when you make it.

    • @marmotaworks

Stunning bench. As for the price, it is a one of a kind artwork as well as a functional piece of furniture. People who pay that kind of money are doing so because of the art, the time and the craftsmanship that goes into a piece like this. Artists always undervalue their work because they are afraid no one wants to pay the price. But, the right person will pay the price as an appreciation of all the hours you spent honing your craft as well as the time you spent creating this piece.

Beautiful work. Always a voiceover. Subtitles get in the way of the video at times. I can always mute the voiceover but I can't get rid of the subtitles.

The bench is definitely too expensive for me, but you should really charge more! The amount of work and time is insane and the outcome is fabulous!
I like when creators share what they charge people. Puts the amount of work into perspective

What an exquisite piece dude. And with regards the narration, keep it up. You're interesting and you don't have one of those monotone voices that makes you want to change the channel! Good work👍

I prefer the voiceover. Also don't beat yourself up. When you work with tools things are going to happen. And good job on the metal frame. I work in manufacturing as a quality manager in a steel manufacturing company and I think you did pretty good.

Hi! I am very impressed with your bench project. The idea of recycling old trees is amazing! Your woodworking skills are amazing. I especially like how you use different types of wood to create unique patterns. Can you share more about the type of wood you used for the bench top? I am looking for a durable and beautiful wood to do a similar project. Thanks for this helpful video!

I always warned every newbie I trained that the router was the most dangerous tool in the shop.
I told them imagine holding a 1/4 horsepower motor in your hands that has a dagger sticking out of it rotating at 12,000 RPM.
