the first piece in your video you screw together needs to have a square held to it as you tighten the screws. I did it that way and mine is perfectly square.
When it comes to buying underwear, you get what you pay for. When it comes to buying a luxury SUV, you get what you pay for. When it comes to buying tools, you get what you pay for. You’re always going to have a better tool if you buy a higher quality tool. Plus, a higher quality tool will always last longer than a cheap knock-off. The proof of that is almost all of us a couple of tools that Grandpa purchased back in the early 1930’s … the point is that we still have them, and they still work as they are supposed to. Thank for the video, Matt!
The hard part is figuring out whether or not something is a higher quality tool. Sometimes paying more means you get a higher quality tool. Other times it just means multiple layers of middle-men and a tool that's exactly the same (or in some cases worse).
@@ImOnAJourney And it always has been. Survivorship bias means we tend to romanticize how good tool quality was in the past. I've gone to a lot of estate sales over the years and for every vintage tool that's worth saving, there's usually a box full of low quality junk -- and that's just the stuff that didn't wear out or break the first time someone tried to use it.
I purchased the knockoff grr ripper on sale for 22 bucks on temu. I absolutely love it. As a hobbyist I can't justify the higher price of the grr ripper. To each their own i guess.
731 Matt, thank you for graciously, taking the bullet for us. I never would’ve done it. But you were very gracious to go ahead and do the research and do your due diligence and pointing out the screamingly obvious if there was no way this would be a source of quality tools, or ethical tools.
Thank you so much for this video,I was about to try Temu for the square and ruler's and well as my late Father always said 9times out of 10 you only get what you pay more for,and you have just proved it 👍💯
I bought several of the things he showed, like the shoulder square, and they have been dead on. The iris tool was horrible, and some of the items were smaller than what you think they are. Overall though, I definitely will keep buying temu
I have a lot of different hobbies, so I have a lot of tools. I started with less expensive tools to get started. If you don't know if you are going to like a new hobby, then it makes sense to go cheap to start then upgrade later. However, from what I've seen even before this video, Temu is not the place to buy tools no matter what. Yes, they might have a gem stuck in there but that is like going to the casino. You might get lucky 1 time and have a winning hand, but the house is going to win the other 99 times. In my opinion it's not worth it. Keep making and stay awesome.
Loved this video and can't wait for the next one, Matt. Absolutely no reason for you to apologize. You clearly stated there were some hidden gems in the beginning of the video. Your video was based off your opinions and you showed us why you had those opinions. I appreciate you for your time and effort, and the quality of your videos. You bring a lot of expert value to us for free. Don't change!
Folks need to understand that within Temu’s offerings for woodworking tools, they’re not “knockoffs” of what’s being sold on Amazon, many are the SAME tool; Temu just bypasses the middleman importers.
There has been reports of Temu using knockoffs and harming other businesses that put out good quality. Just look at the comparison Matt showed and how similar they look but the quality was not there.
@@brendasmith1533 As I said, MANY are the same product selling on Amazon, but NOT all. There is unquestionably a lot of crap on Temu, but there’s crap on Amazon as well. Caveat emptor.
Thank you for sharing this video. I am sure there is some things worth it from TEMU. They have so much available, but I just do not feel comfortable ordering from them. I was given a couple rolls of the same tape. You are absolutely correct, in removing it is a very hard chose. I had to make some repetitive cuts on my Mitre saw that was outside of the rulers limits. I used it to secure a stop block. Went to remove the stop block and it removed a chunk of the melamine top. Just to see if it would work, I used it to secure a 20x20 metal babinet to the wall. Full strip from side to side, across the back, top and bottom to a 1x4. To see if it would hold the cabinet to the wall. It has not come loose yet. Is did also put 4 screws in slots, to catch it in case it did. But had not come loose yet. This stuff might be stronger than Medical tape. Everyone stay safe, happy 😊😊😊 and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
I completely agree with you in regard to the inaccurate tools that would cause you to have errors in your work however where I disagree is on items like the Gripper. I actually have 2 of them and I love them, they greatly increase my safety using a table saw. For someone that wants to get into woodworking but can't afford the higher end versions I would still encourage them to get one of those items because I would rather they have it and be safe than not buy it because they copied someone else. Some people don't have the budget to buy the Festools, Woodpeckers, or Sawstops and that should not stop them from being able to enjoy woodworking.
Matt, I've got to be honest, while I agree with the others about "missing the mark" to an extent, what sticks out to me the most is that it seems like about half way through you appeared to be entirely "over it" Now, this is not unreasonable, especially if it was garbage item after garbage item, and while I won't pretend to know the ins and outs of video production or scheduling, with all due respect, it really seems like you should have taken a break and gotten out of the shop for a bit. The frustration and negativity, which is exceptionally rare for your videos and while clearly valid (the circle jig that wasn't round for example) was definitely palpable. Again, I mean no disrespect to you or your editor. Maybe it's just how the footage was edited, the order each tool was placed in or maybe I just haven't had enough coffee myself (always possible) - I'm not sure. With that in mind, the criticism of the Micro-Jig clone is 110% valid! As for the tools themselves, I have a few observations: - Those adjustable jaw pliers appear to be clones of the Crescent or Irwin versions (which are very similar to each other) - they're a little different than the Knipex - The squares & protractors are not a particularly fair comparison to Woodpeckers unless it's a direct clone of a Woodpeckers tool. I think a fairer comparison would be to Empire / Swanson / Husky / Kobalt tools off the shelf from HD / Lowe's (they're much closer in price). I bought my first Woodpeckers tools based on your reviews, and I do love them but again, with respect, it's not a fair comparison between a sub $10-$20 tool and an $80+ tool - With calipers you have to be VERY careful where you order Mitutoyo calipers from and should only buy them from a reputable known distributor (meaning Grainger, McMaster-Carr, Fastenal, etc - a real industrial supply house who ONLY get their stock from the OEMs - definitely 100% NOT Amazon! Knock-offs ABOUND and some are VERY hard to spot if you don't know what to look for) - That said, for woodworking, even cheapie calipers are "good enough"... Personally I prefer the cheap ones because at $20-ish a set, you don't care as much if they fall and hit the concrete. Also, you should not leave the batteries in them as they tend to drain much faster (it's the circuit that "wakes" them up when you slide them apparently)
Thanks for the feedback. It was originally one single 28 minute video with good and bad. I split them so it wasn't so long. More info on my behind the scenes video I released earlier to my Tubafour Nation members here th-cam.com/video/v9cNqCAi0Vw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Cp0Hy3Eq-kQ512SA&t=62
I bought a digital caliper from Temu and ut came with the battery. It also measures heighth. Its amazing. 96% of what Ive purchased from Temu is amazing and continues to be.
I’ve gotten some useful stuff from them. Mainly coat hooks, cutting board feet, the closest thing to a tool was a gauge to check the blade and fence to the miter slots. I was actually impressed with the quality of it. I always wanted one but couldn’t bring myself to buy one at those prices. Some have actually come down since but either way, I probably not going to buy any tools but they do have some decent odds and ends to complete projects
I guess they do have decent odd’s and ends. But you have to go through a whole lot of garbage before you find anything decent. This is the new age “wish” You maybe might find something usual every now and then, but generally speaking, all junk.
The biggest issue with Temu is not poor quality but the data harvesting and security problem with their app. They had a news segment about it recently.
There are reports from businesses saying Temu has knockoffs of their products but with much lower quality. And Matt showed us one. I take those businesses' advice and won't buy from Temu.
I watched that segment on youtube and just like others who commented on it I have given the same information to Walmart, Amazon, Bass Pro, and every other online vendor that I shop from. You take chances no matter if the company is foreign or domestic.
I absolutely despise TEMU and hate that people enjoy dumping money into Chinese ripoff companies. But to each their own. I do rather enjoy these comparison videos though!
I hate people that support intellectual property laws. What you're doing is gatekeeping. You're protecting mediocre products with patents. You're saying poor people can't have access. Imagine if only Kreg made pocket hole jigs. We would be stuck with their mediocre design revisions and cheap plastic. I much prefer the armor tool jig.
@@mrniusi11 Actually, companies like Temu harm poor people by manufacturing easily-breakable or functionally useless junk. Tools that require repeat purchase will often cost someone more than more durable products. Temu is just as, or more, exploitative than other companies. There’s a lot to be said about lowering the barriers to entry into a hobby or profession like woodworking, but it’s a little naive to suggest that Temu is somehow a benevolent actor here. Also, I have no idea what IP laws have to do with it here, since in your second paragraph you acknowledge that different companies make different versions of tools that perform the same function. IP laws have nothing to do with Temu’s cheap, non-durable products.
Thank you, Matt. I have thought the same as what you posted. But I have found that some things are not that bad. Dremel sanding drums are pretty good, just use a real Dremel drum. the ones that came with the Drum papers were wonky, that is the tech term. The Dremel bits I got are not that bad, with the prices being really cheap, they don't have to last as long as the Dremel branded ones. The biggest thing I found was the lack of info on descriptions. So buyer beware on getting things from them
Are you sure your Woodpecker square was actually...square? It seems weird that most of the ones you compared to it were "off" in the same manner. I have bought a few woodpecker clones from Temu and my experience was completely different. They were ALL perfectly square! The only issue I had was the measurement markings were consistently off a little.
I don't even own WP's tools, but they mill them and use optical data/CMM to ensure precision. Safe to say WP's are VERY square. Tolerence is like 0.001" over 30" or something crazy.
You talk about paying extra and getting from a US firm. I live in Europe that is not an argument that I find very convincing. Why, as a European, should I pay a massive markup for a item just because it was made in the US? The microjig is a good example, you say that the cheap chinese one is the same in almost every way, but microjig is twice the price in europe and dificult to find.
I only just heard about Temu and I’m just about to get into woodworking. I was going to try and use Temu to get some starter tools that wouldn’t break the bank so I really appreciate this video! I don’t like to buy knockoffs but until I can afford the American made, it’s the only option. Looking forward to the hidden gems!
I bought a bunch recently off Wish and so far they all work really well and I have zero issues. Best of all, it was all just under $50. Just don't buy a power drill and expect it to have any torque ;)
Great video!!! Looking forward to the next. Thank you for investing so much back in the channel. Keeps me coming back. Keep the awesome videos coming..
Thanks Matt, been tempted by Temu’s tool offerings. I use the “beer principle”, if you’re going to buy disposable items & buy them often you need to find the best value, like who’s got the best price for your favourite beer. If you only buy it once (or not very often) then buy quality, you’ll be happier in the long run. I did buy some drawer handles from Temu & now I get bombarded with special offers!
Oh man, I wish I'd known about the pocket hole clamp (or what ever it's called). I REALLY could have used one of those this weekend. My usual setup wasn't going to work for the situation I had this weekend. I made it work, but having one of these clamps would have solved the problem... I guess I'll add that to my Christmas list.....
This may be a dumb question, but did you check to make sure your woodpecker squares are square before comparing??? I mean, they may be “square” to one another, but that doesn’t mean they are actually square. You’d need to get a precision instrument to verify squareness. Maybe the woodpeckers are all off by half a degree
A Florida journalist uncovered that the TEMU ap drops spyware on your devises. I have not and will not download their ap no mater how enticing they make their pricing. I support our US companies.
You didn’t test the tools. I understand that a lot of times we can just look at something and tell it’s junk but sometimes the junk works. You tested the squares, but not much else. In case you didn’t know, this site has had tons of complaints and even worse they are talking about security issues with it as well. That alone should keep people from using it.
I understand your point on the gripper, but honestly, 100$ (quick change between €) is a lot for a peace of plastic. For a hobby, I rather be safe than to be right. I think this a point that comes for all the tools, if you are a pro go ahead, it will save you money on the long run, meanwhile, if you are a hobbyist, you don't want to spend a lot in something is not making you money and also you are just trying tools, maybe is not a good fit or maybe you don't really need it. This kind of tools, despite being garbage some of the time, are a great intro that may develop into buying original tools.
I bought a track saw square from Temu, and a miter slot bar. The track saw square is outstanding, especially for the $25 I paid for it. The miter rail is too short to be very useful on a table saw
I've bought a few things from them. I try to stick to things that are hard to screw up: some bulk sanding discs, triangle stands for staining, or simple tools like a cheap spoke shave. That worked out ok for me. Oh and I have this weird mortising router jig coming, we'll see if that's a total waste or not lol
I bought a Mitutoyo caliper, which lasted about a month out of the warranty. After trash canning that pair of $150 calipers, I bought a Husky brand from the Home Depot for $39. Those lasted about 5 years. But they have a lifetime warranty. Home Depot did not hesitate to give me brand new calipers.
I seem to have gotten luckier with one of those shoulder squares. Had some good results with a square that makes center lines on square or round pieces. The circle things nice when it works but I had the glue holding the case together fail resulting in me having to rebuilt the thing and glue it back together which worked out but it was a very annoying and fiddly process even if you put aside getting a nice finger cut in the process. I suspect the glue holding the case failed on yours too causing the blades to slip out of the tracks. Also had good results with the really cheap plastic caliper. Accurate and I can keep it out on the bench without worrying about my nice one getting damaged.
About the Gripper copy. Why wouldn't I want to buy a complete ripoff of that for a fraction of the price? I mean, the speed square is copied by everyone (even if the quality is a downgrade at times), yet I shouldn't buy this Gripper copy because it copies the design? Seems like its a better deal to me.
I can vouch for pica pencils, mines been through some stuff (ran over by multiple tractors with 15 tonne loads, and multiple concrete drops) i’ll admit it doesn’t work as well as it should but i works
The squares I got from Temu were pretty hit or miss too, but I did get a different digital caliper as a "toss around, don't care if it breaks" one for $5-6 from Temu and it's almost dead on accurate to my $40+ iGauging. I think it's 0.02mm/0.01in off at max extension or something, which is way more accurate than I need it for. Other than that I actually thought the pencil was fine. It's a pencil, and it works. $20 for a plastic pencil to me is bonkers.
Matt i think you are being a little bit negative about what you wasted your $500 on 😅😂😳🤣. I can't believe just how many TH-cam maker's keep making these videos on Temu. Oh by the way Matt i couldn't do anything but laugh each time you mentioned the made up name of this Chinese rip off company, its like the flightless bird but with the letter T infront of it. So Emu becomes T..Emu Temu. If we are going to be putting a rating on how crappy their products and services are we really need to get their name correct !!! 😂🙄🤣 as always brother 💯% 👍 🇬🇧. P.s I really am sick and tired of TH-cam shoving the T.Emu adverts down my throat nomatter how many times ive been told by them that they won't show me anymore of their adverts!!!🤯😤
5:40 you gotta lube those up with a dry lube, and theyre only good for copying something you can put inside it. They do ok for that, but you cannot use them to fabricate a circle. You must copy a circle.
Fowler dial calipers are a good quality for what you pay. Their cx service is great. I bought a couple and one has a skip in the teeth. Fowler had me send it back and they replaced it. No fuss.
Good video Matt. Agree with most apart from the pencil. I have one these granted was an Amazon but was still very cheap never had issue with it. I have bought few things from temu. There resin moulds are actually pretty good and cheap future video! 🏴👍
You are starting to sound arrogant in your videos. This one in particular I was cringing every time you tossed a tool to the side because they’re cheap. I’m sure you would have appreciated these prices when you first started your woodworking journey. Congrats on making it this far and being able to afford the higher quality tools you have today, but not everyone can ride the same boat you do. Don’t forget who your audience is (myself included) Or something like that
I appreciate the feedback. I don't have any issues with lower cost tools and use a bunch in my shop. These weren''t good and a waste of money IMO. I have a bunch of videos of tools under $30 that I recommend. Even have a video on cheap tools coming out next week. I messed up on this video, TBH. I originally filmed it as one video with good and bad tools intermixed but it was nearly 30 minutes long. Full explaining posted to my Tubafour Nation, I'll share here th-cam.com/video/v9cNqCAi0Vw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zY7dts3gPcz0v4VR&t=62
That digital caliper's battery looks like a LR44/A76 1.5v battery, that are commonly used for various small electronic items one might find in a home. The tool looks identical to one that I bought from Aldi some years ago, which worked quite well. At least here in Oz, they can be readily bought in supermarkets and 'big box stores' (to use an Americanism).
Great video. Very relevant to my interests. Glad I didn't buy any squares on Temu. Regarding Grr-ripper, it costs about 80-100 eur in Europe without shipping. I wish I can justify spending this much on a push block. While it's a premium product and looks amazing, I'm gonna buy a chinese one in gray or a grabber pro.
I have heard of several people whose bank account was hacked and the common thread was temu. Also BBB has warned against the site. I’m staying away from the site buyer beware
I have a few of the items you showed here and haven't been able to fault any of them. The squares in particular have all been spot on - I mean how hard is it to get that right? Until I start to do a lot more projects, their stuff is a great compromise. It's a lot like my Ryobi battery tools - sure Milwaukee would be nice, but for now I'd rather have 10 Ryobi tools than 3-4 Milwaukees I'd get for the same price.
Your awesome Matt!! Thanks for the great content. Ands I almost fell for Temu's woodworking crap. But I ended up not ordering.. and after seeing this video I don't regret my decision at all. Anyhow nice work. Can't wait to see what's next.
I have a super small area to do some woodworking so I have to be very selective on what equipment I buy. I need things that serve more than one purpose. Have any suggestions??
I always assumed the probe meters worked by putting an electric current through the wood and basing the waster content on the feedback or something. When I say that, I mean that I've never actually stuck the probes into the wood more than tiny, tiny dents. Hardwood or softwood. Now I'm questioning my life. Edit: I always get results though. Maybe I just lucked out and bought an OK one? lol
I used to make fun of the way you used to pronounce Temu. After seeing the Temu commercial during the SuperBowl, I realized you are the only person who pronounced it accurately. My boyfriend says I owe you an apology. So, I am sorry 😞.
I bought that micrometer and had to go back to order the batteries. It uses a slightly odd voltage. Seems to work fine for my uses so far. I bought several router bits also. They will be throw aways when they start getting dull but for the price figured I would give them a try. As I find ones I really use I will head to TayTools or Bit&Bits for a more quality permanent bit. Doubt I'll be buying much of anything else thru them, the odds and ends I ordered were more curiosity, got about what I figured I would so I'm not going to complain.
I've bought cheap tools before and do some work to make them better. That means that you need at least a reference that you can trust. I can't afford hundreds on tools but I can spend some time to improve the ones I have.
Love your videos!! As a newbie, aspiring worker, invaluable. Thank you! On this video though, I wish you had also shared the “gems”. I knew most was going to be bad. Last, does the push block work? I know we don’t like knock offs, but that’s not the question… I did the same experiment, and 80% was bad stuff. The few hidden gems made it worth it because I got them under an initial offer of “buy 13, pay for 2”. But a lot was trash. What was not, was probably worth the
Thanks. I had originally put both the good and bad in one video but it was a nearly 30 minutes long. Full explanation I made a video to the Tubafour Nation behind the scenes explaining it here th-cam.com/video/v9cNqCAi0Vw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zY7dts3gPcz0v4VR&t=62
Bad quality video.. just basically dismisses stuff out of prejudice.. Does everything expected is just "ok", "dont have battery, aint gonna test probably sux..", and the circle maker thing is obviously damaged by shipping (or from factory) and jammed.. . Not standing up for chinese quality.. but this consistent prejudiced snobbery kinda almost feels like racism with a different feel.
Please don't use TEMU. While I'm not a fan of the monopolies that Amazon has and the fact that they also allow for knockoffs, they at least employ US Citizens. Also, the reason why TEMU can send such inexpensive products all the way across the ocean without paying for shipping is because China uses a UN style loophole and claims they are a 3rd world country, which forces the US to foot the bill for shipping. So, in summary, TEMU has low prices because: they tacitly promote IP theft, their products are made from forced/unethical labor, and they cheat the US into to paying for shipping. With all that said, thank you for sharing, Matt. I have really enjoyed watching your videos.
11:09 The patent on the Gripper has expired which is why you're suddenly seeing so many very similar products. I have the Milescraft version which is excellent and much more reasonably priced. My main objection to this Temu one is that they chose to copy it right down to the color.
I have order from TEMU and also found a few jams myself, also so trash too. I see you had in your pile the “Woodworking Rounded Corner Chamfering Template Tool Quick Change R Angle Arc Right Angle Bevel Angle Electric Wood Milling Trimming Machine Model”, I was wondering if you have tried it out and can give me a honest opinion on it. I like that it is aluminum and not poly. Love watching and learning from your videos, as I just started out into woodworking as a hobby and can’t waiting to start making stuff
You are acting like you are working with thousands of an inch! I have spent forty years in the airspace manufacturing industry, and I love wood working! however, I never try to cross them together! You are knit picking a sliver of light, and yes, it is nor square, but your wobble in your saw is way more than that few thousands of an inch! The glue you use is less accurate than the squares you are complaining about. I like your content, but let's keep it real, we are not making airplanes! With that said, go ahead and hate on me. :-)
Your mind was made up before you opened the items. Granted, alot of there tools are tat which anyone sensible would automaticlly know by price & description but there are some great bargains for non essential bits & bobs. No woodworker worth his salt wouldnt even be looking at this app if precision tools were needed. Some people are not fortunate enough to recieve gifts and have to use there own money. They have to budget wisely. Time you invested in judging tools was laughable. Very unfair video i think.
Actually it wasn't. I found some good stuff. Originally I had both the good and bad in one video but it was 28 minutes long. So I decided to split it into two videos, bad and good separately. It was a mistake. I should have mixed good/bad in one video and either made 2 videos or picked the "best" and the "worst" and made a shorter video. Lesson learned. Thanks for the feedback.
Can I just say thank you. I have ordered from them twice and didn’t feel right. So I don’t order from them anymore . I just wonder what is our values are worth anymore.
I enjoy watching your Videos and I enjoy your livestream. Shows and the things that you build. You and missus seven thirty one have taught me a great deal and Im grateful. It is nice to be able to go buy expensive tools, i can not. I wish i could go buy al US TOOLS, but can not aford them. However, you do realize that most of the tools you buy off of Temu are they same tools that you buy off of Amazon and other places. I don't have the money to go to rockhart and spend hundreds of overpriced dollars for a tool I can get cheaper. I am disabled and on a supper tight budget. Sorry i can not aford ROCLER...
have ditched Temu since finding out some shady practices about them. but have got some good stuff from them. not everyone can afford $100’s of dollars for the top end stuff. but in saying that if you buy something that’s not square you’ve wasted your money 🤷♀️

shame on you for sending money to a company that uses slave labor to produce stolen ideas, just for youtube views.
I’m a full-time mailman, and Temu is taking over everything lol
We see it in our mail lady van
the first piece in your video you screw together needs to have a square held to it as you tighten the screws.
@@timtuckercom
You’re exactly right. It’s a crapshoot every time.
@@timtuckercom
Yep. Right again!
Respect to you sir. Thank you for reply👍
I appreciate that!
Folks need to understand that within Temu’s offerings for woodworking tools, they’re not “knockoffs” of what’s being sold on Amazon, many are the SAME tool; Temu just bypasses the middleman importers.
So, they're just ripping off other people's IP.
@@PSjustanormalguy If eliminating the middleman and sourcing directly from the manufacturer is “ripping off” that middleman, so be it.
That's true. Many of Amazon's offerings are from China.
Matt, I've got to be honest, while I agree with the others about "missing the mark" to an extent, what sticks out to me the most is that it seems like about half way through you appeared to be entirely "over it"
Now, this is not unreasonable, especially if it was garbage item after garbage item, and while I won't pretend to know the ins and outs of video production or scheduling, with all due respect, it really seems like you should have taken a break and gotten out of the shop for a bit.
As for the tools themselves, I have a few observations:
- Those adjustable jaw pliers appear to be clones of the Crescent or Irwin versions (which are very similar to each other) - they're a little different than the Knipex
- The squares & protractors are not a particularly fair comparison to Woodpeckers unless it's a direct clone of a Woodpeckers tool. I think a fairer comparison would be to Empire / Swanson / Husky / Kobalt tools off the shelf from HD / Lowe's (they're much closer in price). I bought my first Woodpeckers tools based on your reviews, and I do love them but again, with respect, it's not a fair comparison between a sub $10-$20 tool and an $80+ tool
- With calipers you have to be VERY careful where you order Mitutoyo calipers from and should only buy them from a reputable known distributor (meaning Grainger, McMaster-Carr, Fastenal, etc - a real industrial supply house who ONLY get their stock from the OEMs - definitely 100% NOT Amazon! Knock-offs ABOUND and some are VERY hard to spot if you don't know what to look for)
- That said, for woodworking, even cheapie calipers are "good enough"...
This is the new age “wish”
You maybe might find something usual every now and then, but generally speaking, all junk.
@@alexorhuxleyyou beat me to it. Well said.
@@mrniusi11 Kreg did not invent pocket holes or pocket hole jigs, they are actually an example of taking existing concepts and improving on them.
@@mrniusi11So you support counterfeiting?
Yeah, I'm sure they are square. I think it's just a mixed bag on what you'll get from TEMU.
I don't even own WP's tools, but they mill them and use optical data/CMM to ensure precision. Safe to say WP's are VERY square. Tolerence is like 0.001" over 30" or something crazy.
That is not how to even check to see if a square is square
If that is the only square that you have how will you check it
@@gillicous11do enlightenment me. How does one properly check for square?
I’ve had a very good experience with squares and a miter gauge from Banggood, a more reputable source from China.
You make my day so much better when i can watch your videos keep up the good work
I appreciate that!
be cool to see a video on types of work pants you like/use
Truewerk. It's all I wear. I've bought them in both shorts and pants.
@@731Woodworks awesome thanks, ill check them out! using the affiliate link from your website of course
9:41 spotted your Milwaukee Fastback, I love mine, I use it more than I thought I would.
They are square
Looking forward to the Temu gems
I bought a track saw square from Temu, and a miter slot bar. The track saw square is outstanding, especially for the $25 I paid for it. The miter rail is too short to be very useful on a table saw
If already ask, I apologize! Will the colored lead refills fit into the Pica Pencils? Thank You for your time and videos.
9:20 Its a splitring plier, mainly used for fishing, to change hooks etc.
I'd say for most folks some of those would work. I work with metal alot and that ain't cutting it for me
I've bought a few things from them.
There are a lot of knock-off Mitutoyo tools out there and I suspect that's what you got. We have several that are still good after 20 years.
@@SimonPEdwards63 I don't think W.W. Granger was selling Mitutoyo tools.
I’d never order from them, just due to their incessant ads on the weather channel, I ended up deleting that app.
The squares were all off by the “exact same amount.” Suggest you throw the woodpecker in the trash, where it belongs.
it's okay that you're wrong. 🤣
I too purchased quite lot of things from Temu recently. I think it's time to check how accurate they are. Thanks
Another good pencil is the pica fine. I'm running white lead for fabric in mine. Works great with dark woods.
You must copy a circle.
lol, the difference between objective and honest reviews and a paid ones is abyssal (we are still looking at you, Taylor).
Don’t forget who your audience is (myself included)
Or something like that
I appreciate the feedback.
It's a lot like my Ryobi battery tools - sure Milwaukee would be nice, but for now I'd rather have 10 Ryobi tools than 3-4 Milwaukees I'd get for the same price.
love my I-gaging caliper use it allot, almost every day very nice.
Your awesome Matt!! Thanks for the great content. Ands I almost fell for Temu's woodworking crap. But I ended up not ordering.. and after seeing this video I don't regret my decision at all. Anyhow nice work. Can't wait to see what's next.
Which moisture meter would you recommend please? Would you please check out the Temu Corner clamps. I would like to know what you think about them.
That folding saw would be great in a bug out bag
Turns out, all the Temu squares were perfect, and it was the Woodpecker square he was using as reference that was out of square. :)
lol wouldn't that be something…..but sadly not true lol.
The permissions you give Temu to use their APP are frightening. Tread carefully.
I have a super small area to do some woodworking so I have to be very selective on what equipment I buy. I need things that serve more than one purpose. Have any suggestions??
😂😂😂 That butterfly pocket saw is a must have 😂😂😂
I always assumed the probe meters worked by putting an electric current through the wood and basing the waster content on the feedback or something.
Mr. Outlaw You Da Man thank you for your efforts in showing us these products and giving your opinion !!!
Glad you like them!
Temu is simply Walmart without the middle man. I like it. Great place to buy junk and turn into treasure 😅
I have ordered from TEMU and love the stuff I got from them
I feel like the Temu flush cut is meant more as a camping saw or something
I've bought cheap tools before and do some work to make them better. That means that you need at least a reference that you can trust. I can't afford hundreds on tools but I can spend some time to improve the ones I have.
What about the Wnew 3-in-1 wood doweling jig. It was features in an episode on Hook on wood episode 42 look at that
Love your videos!! As a newbie, aspiring worker, invaluable. Thank you!
On this video though, I wish you had also shared the “gems”. I knew most was going to be bad.
Last, does the push block work? I know we don’t like knock offs, but that’s not the question…
I did the same experiment, and 80% was bad stuff.
Thank you for this video. On the Grrrriper, what are your thoughts on the Milescraft Grabber pro?
I haven't used it yet.
May I ask you a question please? It is: What online drafting software do you utilize?
I bought two different squares from temu and both are square. I checked them several different ways. My wife likes to get home junk through them.
Watching as a temu ad is right under the video lol
Question, had you ever used Bora tracks for circular saws?.
11:09 The patent on the Gripper has expired which is why you're suddenly seeing so many very similar products. I have the Milescraft version which is excellent and much more reasonably priced. My main objection to this Temu one is that they chose to copy it right down to the color.
Damn, I remember when you could get a 30cm x 20cm CNC router on Aliexpress for $500.
I've had some great things from Temu, but then I haven't had the top of the range stuff to compare it with.
Aluminum ones were good. They'll be in a future video of the gems I found at Temu.
Can’t wait for that video 👍
You are acting like you are working with thousands of an inch! I have spent forty years in the airspace manufacturing industry, and I love wood working! however, I never try to cross them together! You are knit picking a sliver of light, and yes, it is nor square, but your wobble in your saw is way more than that few thousands of an inch! The glue you use is less accurate than the squares you are complaining about. I like your content, but let's keep it real, we are not making airplanes! With that said, go ahead and hate on me. :-)
Nice bambu in the back ground there, on the 3D printing train
Neiko calipers are about 10-15 on amazon, awesome quality
Nice! I'll check them out.
I love the way he says temu
Long time subscriber and love your videos...... that being said this seemed thrown together and paid for by the big brands. Not your best effort.
Thank you. My apology and explanation for this video here th-cam.com/video/v9cNqCAi0Vw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LUzfrXmzKcYdZqqB&t=65
6:25 sounds like a good deal on carpet tape though!
The caliper battery is most likely an LR44 battery.
That's it. LR44 or SR44.
Can I just say thank you. I have ordered from them twice and didn’t feel right. So I don’t order from them anymore . I just wonder what is our values are worth anymore.
I ordered a watch from Temu and I could use that watch as weapon, that was made for 8 foot tall people with arms thicker than my leg.
Reference square is accurate.
bla bla bla, your record is hanging.
@@731Woodworksok but you know this, how?
They're taking all of our information... so I've heard 😂
Thanks for the reviews Matt. Most of us would rather not waste our money.😊😊 I certainly appreciate it.
Bingo! Definitely appreciate Matt and his opinions.
have ditched Temu since finding out some shady practices about them. but have got some good stuff from them. not everyone can afford $100’s of dollars for the top end stuff. but in saying that if you buy something that’s not square you’ve wasted your money 🤷♀️
