Definitely getting the Bow Xtender Fence
If only these guys knew there sales were gonna jump big just from a 731 interview
@@wakeofman I think I gotta get one too, I have that same dewalt portable tablesaw and the fence sucks. Cheap aluminum that pushes inward, not ideal for straight cuts. Crazy the fence cost almost as much as the saw cost when I bought it 4 years ago but not even gonna bat an eye at the price tag
Dude, I gotta say - this channel is really turning into a news channel for woodworking, and I’m here for it. No one else really does this
Honestly I'm not sure of the last time he made something. But I enjoy the content and news. Filling a niche.
@@rswearing tool reviews and news content get more views in general I think
That and I like how he gives businesses the attention they deserve, like how he does here and on the Etsy videos. More videos like these would be great!
Belts and boxes has entered the chat.
Thank you for going to shopsmith!! The new owner is doing great at getting people to know about the 70 year old company!
Great to see that Shopsmith is still alive and kicking. After over 40 years my Mark V is still my go to device for tablesaw, bandsaw, and most boring and disk sanding functions. I still vow that I'll use it for wood turning before I die, but I haven't had a need to turn wood yet.
Thanks for stopping by our booth and speaking with us! It was great to meet you and we appreciate you sharing our story! 😃
My dad had a shop Smith! He passed a couple years ago and it now lives in my brother's garage collecting dust which is sad. But man that thing just keeps on ticking!
A shopsmith 10er was my first "big tool." Im so glad the brand is continuing and cant wait to see what the next iteration of the mark VII is. THe 250-10K rpm motor is a HUGE improvement
I've had a Shopsmith for over forty years. I still love it. It's the best drill press ever made. Hands down.
Great job getting the word out Shopsmith! Way to show up!
I've got a 510. GREAT tool!
Dude! Shop Smith improving there setup is awesome
The guy who bought shop smith is doing crazy things. Love to see it
What crazy things? I haven't seen anything interesting yet
Thanks for bringing us along, Matt. I wasn’t able to attend this year, and of course this would be the first year that Shopsmith would attend! I’ve been happily using my Shopsmith tools since 1987, and as my space has grown I’ve purchased a few older Shopsmiths, with my oldest dating back to the 1940s! The machines they make today are far superior. Thanks again for sharing. Scott
I had a Mark V I bought around 1985 or so and used it for many years. Very powerful and versatile machine that is very underrated. Perfect for a small garage/workshop like I had at the time.
Thanks for visiting ShopSmith.. love my Mark 7… enthusiastic & innovator owner ..
That Shopsmith contraption is something ...
Shop Smith Mark V was probably my first look at woodworking. I didn't own one but I loved those old commercials.
I'm glad to see the Shopsmith! I have been using this machine since I was a kid (my father had one) and I absolutely love it.
Love the shopsmith, I could see the military or humanitarian/mission organizations picking up some good contracts with that
Love my Shopsmith Mk5 520
I wish to thank you for your instructional videos, I joined the Marines in 1976 and became a COMBAT ENGINEER. Many of my jobs back then involved wood working when building up a NEW Camp I have forgotten many of the tricks to good wood working your videos bring back so many memories... I am finally retired now and plan on setting up my own wood working shop just for some fun and extra income building whatever I am able to make... planters, cutting boards, some wall decorations and such small items.
Thank you for visiting BOW!! I am so excited for the new dog and t-track clamping system!! Great videos as always!
Thanks for sharing Matt! It gave an opportunity for those of us that could not be there to see some great woodworking innovations. I’ll be checking into the crocodile cloths for sure. Also, thank you for stopping by the Shopsmith booth and recognizing a company that’s been in business over 70 years. I have 3 of the older Mark V’s and love using them.
Crocodile Cloths seem like oversized baby wipes...
Which, isn't a bad thing because baby wipes do a damn good job of cleaning sh¡† off...
If the price is within that same price ballpark as baby wipes (adjusting for size difference and quantity of course..) then I could definitely agree it'd be a great product for those larger messes!
That Bows extra fence looks great. I bought a compact saw recently and didn’t realize I’d need to buy twice as much worth of accessories to make it useable for woodworking.
My first big tool was a free shop smith. Used the crap out of that thing. Taught myself how to turn wood with it.
Glad to see someone is trying to keep it alive. Even if I don’t personally have a use for one anymore
Live that new power head for it. Mine had the old dial system
Got most of the way through restoring a older shop smith years ago that I was given. I ended up passing it along. I was not super fond of have to do setup to change everything. Cool tools. I remember watching them do demos in our local mall as a kid.
Some cool ideas I remember of seeing the shop Smith in wood magazine pretty cool video
I've had surf prep for years and love there stuff- I use them mostly for cabinets and profile edges on doors
Wow, it was like I was there with you at the show!
Well done, Sir!
ShopSmith was truly innovative. My dad has a Mark IV and I remember the time he nearly lost some fingers….way too small of a table to handle large boards. Maybe they need to team up with Bow for their fences
You can add tables to all 4 sides. Want an 8' infeed? No problem. Want a 36" wide table, no problem.
Your dad was doing it wrong.
The Bow fence has been a game changer for my small shop. Thank you so much for bringing us this information!
Great Job Matt. Excellent selection of new products. The branding Iron, Bow and the new finish was most excellent! Thanks again. Well Done.
By watching events like these trade shows, you come to a profound realization that the joy once reserved for new toys in your childhood has seamlessly transformed into a genuine enthusiasm for discovering the latest and most innovative tools.
I bought the 36" Bow extender bundle. Looks AWESOME!
Thank you Matt, there are a couple of things I would like to have and they won't break the bank for my small shop. Great video. God bless!
Nice!! Lots of cool stuff Mighty Matt
I got a shopsmith mark 5 as part of a trade a while back, but I've never set it up. That newer model definitely looks much nicer though. If I hadn't already had all the tools that this can become, I might have actually used it.
The Bow Products table saw fence is already on my list. Thanks for the tour. Nice stuff.
Nice overview... Thanks!!
That looks like a fabulous show Matt! I kind of envy you being there. You highlighted many interesting new products! So many, in fact, I believe I'll have to watch this video several times to digest it all. Your content is some of the best there is, and this is one example of that. I thank you so much for all you do, and not just in the shop! I wish you and Amy a fabulous and safe week ahead. Thanks again! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
@@731Woodworks You're quite welcome! 😁
I’ve always wanted to try the Surf Prep sander. I do woodworking but also refinish furniture. I love my Festool Sander. But a lot of the content creators I’ve watched use the surf prep.
Just got a mag switch for my bandsaw. Love it.
Hey Matt
Awesome video priceless content.
Congratulations to you and your wife for all the hard well done work.
God bless y’all.
Thanks 👍
Some very great tools
It's funny I'm a guitar builder so almost every one of these products sparked my interest, specially the surf prep and hard oil. That looked like a pretty cool show!
I'm a fellow Guitar 🎸 builder. And I agree 👍
I am also an instrument builder/repair tech, and I highly recommend the Shopsmith. Once you get the hang of it you'll wonder how you got by without it.
Why is that funny
These tool videos are motivational. I have to get busy making things to sell so I can buy these new "toys".
Same here! I am trying to get started and 731 has been my go to for getting me off my butt and into the shop.
1×3 clamped to the fence works just fine
I love Crocodile Cloth. Keep it in the shop and the car. Great product
The Bow fence came back in stock and got the 46 inch version which just arrived yesterday. Can’t wait to try it out. Going to be very helpful for jobsite table saw
Bow products are really impressive with their products. Nothing groundbreaking but they just know how to make current concepts better. Big fan.
Great Job thanks. I wish I knew about that show, I would have definitely taken a trip there.
I SO wanted to attend this conference. Thanks for covering some of what was shown.
Surfprep sanders are fantastic. They work especially well for furniture restoration. They're smooth on edges & sand where traditional sanders can't
Great video and info. Pretty awesome when Matt knows more about the products than the reps do.
🤣
That little flow control thing is going to be great for my little garage woodworking shop! So glad I watched this. On the flip side 2k for that little organizer is incredibly overpriced and "it doesn't come with any accessories" what?
Some cool stuff! Thanks! 😃
All good stuff, thanks! However, I don't think Festool has anything to fear from these particular items.
Definetly want those Bow clamps for the cnc
Excellent camera work with your phone!
I got the Bow extender kit. It’s awesome!
Where did you find it? It seems sold out wherever I've looked....
I got it as soon as 731 put out his video on it. Got it from Taylor Toolworks.
Love my Bow fence. I made one for the table saw, but use the Bow on my band saw for resaw. Bow should partner with Magswitch, maybe their new stops/workholding devices would work well on a drill press, I'd give it a go.
I passed the crocodile cloth in home depot about 6 times this week. I debated the purchase but now I'll be using your link, thanks.
Man that Bow products extender fence makes me want to go out and buy a table saw...that thing is very cool. Great design and looks well made. A lot of very interesting products and it would not be complete without the Shopsmith demo at the end. I had a Mark V and it was an awesome machine. Thanks for sharing brother !!
This was a great video again and thank u for all the input on the tools!!
Glad it was helpful!
Yes sir
I like that PWN cnc
Who else is running out to get a new shop smith? 😬
Suckers. They are cheap used
Good Job Matt
I’ve got a couple of Gearheart electric brands and I absolutely love mine.
Andy Klein is awesome. I have his twin turbo vise. Excellent vise.
I use the Bow fence extender on my Dewalt jobsite saw and highly recommend it. I feel much more in control and safer.
I can personally speak on Gearheart Industries branding irons. Their customer service was the best that I've ever seen from any business ever. Seriously. They were great from beginning to end, and the iron is really nice.
Great video! Love the SurfPrep. I'm looking to get an orbital sander. This maybe a direction to go. Thanks!
Another great video. Very well done.
Glad you enjoyed it
That sander was amazing
festool is not afraid 🤣
I have the croc cloths, they are awesome
I love SurfPrep. Great for polishing Meganite.
I really like my Bow feather board for the Dewalt TS I have. The jobsite model will work even if you don’t have a T-track. I wouldn’t mind having the fence extension, but for now I just use a roller with a long piece of oak attached to my fence using a couple of Woodpecker’s CTS clamps-which works really well in conjunction with Grippers.
Running around my neck of the woods and I didn't know! Maybe I'll catch you next year
Thanks for taking us along with you. You got to meet Andy Klein! He's gotta be one of the smartest guys on the tube and his vises are unbelievable. Thanks.
I’d bet my next month’s salary the Gearheart Branding Irons guy got in trouble setting stuff on fire in elementary school. Definitely going to give them a look - only other ones I’ve seen come from Rockler and I’m not crazy about their options.
Low-Pro is legit. I am running this on a CNC machine and it works great. I also have a Surfprep 3x4 and love it. Next I will probably get the vacuum they make.
I recently got surfprep pads for my festool dts400. Used for a bit on prepping trim for paint, worked well. I would really like to see a video on comparing their 3x4 with festools rts and dts sanders using the surfprep pads. Is the 3x4 worth getting and how well does it work with festool system. Simple things like common power cord can be a big deal. 😊
I use the crocadile cloth and they're absolutely the shit! Im out and i NEED to get more!! Love em so much!
Crocodile wipes are pretty epic. I keep em in my work truck
I really enjoyed this episode.
Ay magswitch!
They do much larger industrial magnets - from talking to their rep I found out that they have a woodworking line of products! Definitely going to check them out for my wood shop!
A tip on the low pro Dust collector: A company called "Chemical Guys" makes shorty Buckets that are thicker for car washing. They are lower but have the exact same upper edge has a HD/Lowes Bucket. They bring the height down even lower AND they don't crush under vacuum.
Good tip. I imploded a Lowe's bucket with my Dust Deputy.
sold on the wipes, guess ill get them on amazon as I have to drive past 2 Lowes on the way to the closest home depo heh
Interested in the CNC clamps
The beauty of the ShopSmith is it motivates the user to build a bigger shop, buy individual tools so he won't have to keep switching out the functions. I get it, the space savings without the cost savings. Every ShopSmith I've seen has been relegated to a single task position or in a garage sale with a high price. I'd like to see the Crocodile Cloth guys have a bucket of used diesel oil for their demonstration, that would sell the product ...if it worked.
Great video Matt, I get a lot of ideas from watching your programs. I was happy to hear the guy representing SurfPrep, he said that he was blessed! Blessings are from the Lord; I had much rather hear someone say," I am blessed'" instead of saying,"I am lucky!" Phil 1:3-6
Make sure you let us know when the Bow Products Bench Dogs hit the market!!! I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out. Those expanding dogs will be AWESOME for making jigs that will attach to an MFT or Paulk bench.
that fence looks great. hopefully its not crazy costly to import to Canada
Love hate relationship with these types of tools. Its great practice to build this stuff yourself (for the majority) but the ease of just purchasing and non of the headace is nice.
That Wall Control is crazy for 2k, and no accessories. It's basically a glorified peg wall. For 2k you can make every wall in your garage a peg board or French cleat.
I can see how the bow product will hold an uncut piece of wood past the blade, but I don't know how the cut end would get held after the cut.
I own the BOW table saw sytem. Its AMAZING. It transformed my dewalt 7485 into a safer easier to use saw. It feels like a contractor saw now instead of a small jobsite saw. Infeed outfeed support is awesome to have. Everything is well made.
If bow sees this, please lighten the fence some. It puts a decent load on the rack and pinion operation.
which could probably be fixed by me with 2x4 supports in the infeed outfeed slots, so a small criticism
Sorry was that 2k for a tabletop and improved pegboard with no attachments to go on it. That's ridiculous.
I like video😊
Hey Matt I'm still working on designing that miter station I emailed you about once a few years back but I've also since come to another brilliant idea to go along with it or stand as it's own thing. I hope to have you possibly debut this to the world.
What is taking so long? It doesn't take a few years to design a miter station.
The extender fence sure looks nice. Problem is that it costs almost as much as my Skil table saw.
I added an Oneida Dust Deputy to a Lowe's bucket. The sidewall of the bucket was too thin and imploded. Just fyi. I had to make a plywood box for dust collection
I definitely thought those CNC people were wearing Pittsburgh Pirates shirts.
Can you please tell the dude at Bow Products to get back to the plant and make the freakin' 48" fence?!? It has been "out of stock" for months....
They can't keep up with the demand lol. Check the link in the description and pinned comment and you can order them now first come first serve. Back in stock April 5th as of today
Holy cow, that is great!!! Just ordered the 46" set. REALLY really appreciate it! @731Woodworks
Can you comment about the precision of the depth of the bow extender fence? 1 inch, 1.5 inches? I ask because we can spend a lot of time dialing in the original fence of the table saw for accurate cuts. Now we are adding something which throws off the table saw fence guide. We can compensate by adding, say, an inch but the actual depth of the extender fence depth will impact this.
Someone bought shop smith… wow 😬
