What an absolute hoot. Thank you lads. There was Paul, happy to give us the long version (complete with futons and pashrashes), while Richard was desperate to ensure only an an expurgated version reached our delicate ears. It would have been nice to also see a c1993 photo of those fresh-faced lads in their first flush of youth. Maybe next time.....😉🌞
Merry Christmas Paul Richard do you know what I just love you 2 I suffer from depression Bad every dull day I just watch you to you always make me giggle thanks again Craig and daughter destiny Warwickshire England
I think you and I both felt similar in the early days Richard - you jumped into a cab and after an evening of misadventure I told my flatmates I definitely didn't want to see Mike again. What happened? It could have been so different! Love the image of you threatening to throw Paul's decanters out - I got so angry with Mike I broke up several Weetabix in his bath - yeah - he wasn't laughing then, especially when they stuck to him as he tried to get dry ....... Aaaaaah - happy days! Lovely to hear a bit more of your background. Thank you!
So hilarious you recalling your romantic meeting. Paul was so enjoying relating the whole story and bloody Richard stopped him in mid flow. Love you Guys. Happy New Year. xx
Ah, a single bed and a radiator roasted bottom. That does bring back memories of being young, in love and broke. But we didn't care. In 13 days, I will be 70. If I can get through next week without frozen pipes (in my house!) I'll be happy. Cheers, chaps. ~ Jon in rural BC, Canada
Thank you for sharing that lovely story you both are so comical it is really enjoyable to listen to you two. I still think though that Richard should have gone into theater would have been marvelous & Paul I think loves to push Richards buttons at times. I think you both make a lovely couple and thank you for sharing your life with us.
hi guys, to sit there and share your personal past like this with the world is something else thank you , have a lovely christmas look forward to your next video.
Just watched this video and spookily you met the same year as me and my husband we met again(we were at school together in the 60’s) in April 93 and moved in together in May (12 days 😂) still together ❤ take care 😊
Well, all I can say is that no one I knew had two pennies to rub together throughout the eighties and I spent the best part of two years unemployed as did most of my friends in the North West. We were very poor at one point and actually couldn't afford to feed our electricity meter let alone eat. So from my perspective there were a lot of people outside of the cities that were very poverty stricken. R.
I 'ran away' to London briefly, aged 17, in 1986. Didn't have a clue. I remember making my way along Praed St in Paddington when a bloke I'd say in his twenties, came up to me & said "come with us, we'll look after you". I decided to look after myself.
I was lucky as I had a friend who had contacts and accommodation was sorted for us and we had already secured work in advance....I was still very green and not terribly streetwise. R.
Merry Christmas to you both, what a lovely story . I worked for Going Places back in the 90's, we sold the Ticketmaster product. Brought all the memories back. And I lived in Leeds in the 80's, also very poor , nothing like it is today. Gay years Richard, I was crying with laughter ! Have a lovely day both xx
In the mid eighties I worked in a travel agency in W2 and my manager Bob ran the bar in the Palladium and use to get me free tickets all the time. Fantastic memories x
Happy Holidays Paul and Richard, it’s been a pleasure getting to know you through your vlogs this past year. Thank you for all the laughs and adventures. Wishing you both a very Happy, Healthy, wondrous New Year.
Great story guys, but when did you realise you liked each other alot, did that take long, and what do you most like about each other? I think you are very yin and yang 😊 we love watching your vlogs xxx
I KNEW there was going to be a standing-on-a-box motif haha OH - I lived in East Finchley for a year in the late 80's! A little mews house next door to Liz Burn, who was cookery edit for the Womens Weekly.
Having gotten to know you through your videos, it's easy to think you were destined to be a couple, but meeting the right person is pretty miraculous really, and I'm so glad that miracle happened for you both. Thanks for sharing your uplifting history with us. :)
Prisoner Cell Block H and Neighbours big in America? Or did you do something I tend to do any muddle places with the same first letter (I think those are both Australian shows... only because that's where I'm from). Love the story... you are such a lovely couple and I love listening to you both.
Oh, now t h a t was truly priceless: such an absolutely fabulous saga, told and recounted so absolutely fabulously 😄...! i too, rather semi-vividly, can recall those heady days back in the 80's - during the dictatorship of "Attila the Hen: The Iron Shady" ( ...may she rest in pieces 🙂.... ) - when London was indeed a far "edgier", grittier and more marginal place than it may-or-may-not presently remain actually, but it really did seem to have been a hell of a lot more bloody fun 'back then'; or might that be merely the revisited wistful memories of ones' ( ... at least r e l a t i v e ... ) "youth" speaking there 🤔...?! Of course by then i'd already well finished doing my 'BFA' at St Martin's College of Art ( ... whilst 'twas still ensconced in the Charing X Road, ever so 'hard BY' St Martin's Lane an' all, in fact, and before having been re-branded: Central St Martin's/Uni of the Arts LDN, at its'/their current - sort of King's X Area - bare posh, 'new-ish' location.... ) Well, at any rate then - simply marvellous, lovely and fun video, this; actually, as they ALL truly rather tend to be 😁, brilliantly enough: well done, **Darlings** 😊...!!! ~With much love 💖, ❤ / ❤, 💖
I remember during winters in the eighties sitting with a group of friends in a pub around half pints of lager and a shared packet of crisps, making it last the evening because we couldn’t afford more and at least the pub was warm. That was in York, it was poor in the north of England. Thatcher and her cronies hated the north of England. On a brighter note you two are very, very funny and this was great as accompaniment to our Christmas morning croissants 🥳
@@paulsavident It involves a loud thumping soundtrack, you sitting at a bar going through your seed packets and Richard dancing over to see what the hell you are doing!! LOL! But seriously, I know that's not quite right.
When you recommended people to watch this video, I didn’t expect such humour, honesty and all round entertainment that everyone should take time out and watch. The love between you is clear to see and that’s why we all join you every week. At times I had tears with laughing so much, as did my daughter, Louise, who watched with me. Thank you!

I'm afraid finding photos like that would involve far too much digging around in storage boxes!
I would like to see old photos too
Please dig for your adoring fans!

A bath tastes better with Weetabix!
Paul reminds me of a grown up version of Peagreen from the Borrowers x.

Well I come from Birmingham and I can tell you it wasn't poverty stricken in the 80's !!

Ah, during the late eighties and into the very early nineties, I considered the National Theatre my second home. Lovely story, guys.
I 'ran away' to London briefly, aged 17, in 1986. Didn't have a clue. I remember making my way along Praed St in Paddington when a bloke I'd say in his twenties, came up to me & said "come with us, we'll look after you". I decided to look after myself.
