    Can you really call it a secret of life and death if it is in a public library 🤔

    • @shimp_
      @shimp_ ปีที่แล้ว +40

      "The common knowledge of life and death" just isn't as gripping. Dwarves have a busy schedule of drinking, socializing, and beating invaders to death with their bare hands, so a catchy title is a must to capitalize on their limited reading time.

    Necromancers writing books about the time they wrote books is like a Vtuber reacting to their reaction to their debut.

    In the world I generated earlier today in preparation for my next fortress, there is a scroll titled "Spoon". It's described as being a poem about nothing in particular that isn't awful but not very good either.

    I had one of those slabs delivered to me by an angry giant. She was using it as a weapon and had 3 other artifacts with her as well. It’s clear she only knew the secret of death however because she was put down by our speardwarfs pretty quickly. One of the other artifacts was a dwarfbone war hammer. Fantastic video as always and thanks!

    weirdly enough this is just a more aggressive version of the library of alexandria. They would tax anyone passing through of their books, make copies, and then return them the copies and keep the original for the library

    She may be stealing all the books but an Erin strolled in with the secrets of life and death carved on a slab that I’ve hidden in the walls of my fort SHE WILL NEVER FIND THEM

    I think Tarn should sneak some kind of FUN in the secrets books. "I had so much fun writing this tome. Best days of my lich life."

    I never tried raiding a tower for fear of bringing its Fun inhabitants to my fort... And because the "not very good" essays my own dwarves were writing were already making my artifacts screen completely illegible. A kobold-owned tower is an amazing thought, also... I have to try a library fort now! Maybe a tower of my own design.

    I always start my libraries with the books from abandoned monasteries. Almost all filler, but I was quite surprised when a necromancer's slab came from one a few forts ago.
    And since you mentioned tribute, can books be part of tribute? I used to always get recurring tribute from all nearby settlements 5 to 10 per season, but I don't remember ever getting anything named.

    I highly recommend making an underground river and using it to flood excessive farming space, makes it easy to pump out pigtails and plump helmets in abundance
