Man Michael! Babe I'm Gonna Leave You? Thank you. That took me back to the early 90's and living in my first apartment. I purchased that box set and wore that song out! Have a wonderful rest of your week. Blessings.
Beautiful guitar and a lovely warm sound on the neck pickup. Incidentally I have almost the same guitar but at the opposite end of the spectrum being a Squier Affinity Tele in Butterscotch finish. It plays and sounds amazing for the money to be fair but this '68 edition is a beauty!
My first good guitar in 1971 was this exact same style Tele! Sadly the high E nut was messed up, no one knew how to fix it, So I traded it in for a 1972 brand new Sunburst Strat like Ritchie Blackmore's in the Deep Purple Machine Head inside photo, that pretty much set me as a Strat player till today, plus I've been a tech since I couldn't fix that Tele. Also build my own Gold Leaf Strats now, n blessed to be a tech thru the years for a few high class guys, mainly thanks to meeting Zeke Clark after a VH show in 88... awesome long tech, Zeke's in Nashville now too ❤️
Love me some Telecaster! Lemmo, sounding great as usual! My freshman year in college started in the fall of ‘68, and there was a guy who lived upstairs from me in the dorm who had a Tele just like that, along with a big Standel amp and a Crybaby wah which he used all the time, never turned it off! And he just worked it four to the bar, regardless of what he was playing! Enough to drive ya nuts… he’d come and sit in with my band occasionally. Wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah… turn that thing off already! I shouldn’t complain too much-he did turn me on to the Chicago Transit Authority album. I did play his Tele a couple of times-might have been the first Tele I ever played at gig volume. I played a ‘67 Gibson SG Standard then, and to this day Teles and SGs are my favorite guitars.
The last song I played before I put my guitar up and came to bed tonight was Babe I’m going to Leave You. I learned it flatpicking a long long long time ago and I’ve always wondered if I should learn how to finger pick it, now I don’t think I’ll bother. 😁 thanks Mike! I might borrow a couple of those little flourishes too 😁 nice Tele and great playing as always! Nice “capture” Jen!!
Notice the top of the "F" on the logo on the case is missing. This is something you often see on the cases from this period. My tele is from 1973 and it looks like my case.
It’s a Lemmo original, though not sure if it has been released yet as a full song. Give his new album a listen and see if you can spot it: Michael Lemmo - Blue Comet.
Who led da dogs out? Who? Zep Lynn playing with George Harrison? Norm, you could have had George's Gretch! At least Marlene saw that and was impressed ! And you sold a Beatle a 1959 sunburst Les Paul! Wow! One out of 3 ain't bad. Norm , Lemmo, and Jen is da goods. Long live rock and roll. Tele choose day. Had the '72 version of that guitar but it left me baby. Stay cool!
The middle toggle position - both pups together - is where funk lives. James Brown, Prince, and Steve Cropper. Teles with the “dark circuit” can’t get that sound, but when you hear those chord stabs in the recordings of James Brown, it’s Tele Time. Prince took so much from James Brown. And the greatest Soul of all time, from Memphis and Muscle Shoals, relied on the Cropper sound. The Telecaster is the ultimate Soul guitar.
By the way, the dark circuit wasn't phased out until '67. So the early 60s Tele Steve on all those records still had the dark circuit unless he clipped the caps to bypass that setting.
Remember when Mark would do this and it was straight forward, simple rock and roll demos every time…. That was really good…. But Lemo is next level. I always appreciate they effort that goes into the layering and looping and how he makes everything his. Great job brotha!
Really depends on the material used. Celluloid will definitely shrink (and off-gas and ruin stuff like hardware plating, nitro finishes, case interiors, etc, beware). Older guards can get brittle over time (thinking the Bakelite super early Fender pickguards.)
wooooooaaawwww this guitar is to die for.... The interpretive bassists dancers in the background are to die for.... The couch has got to go, it is too low off the ground, there is no such thing as a performing couch.... also, no more 60-70's classic rock Classics, as it is to jump out the window for, pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaase.....
Great sounding 🎸 guitar. Its got " it " thee "mojo"...prediction...this one will be gone quick. Outstanding playing as always 👏 👌 👍 🙌 Marvelously done !
Not any different than my cheap lyx telecaster maple neck vintage bridge I'm so glad I have my inexpensive nine guitars I have and all made left handed I had all the vintage guitars back in new York years ago mo big deal than the inexpensive guitars today
@@mattrogers1946 .. possibly👍🏼.. There’s many types of “plastic” .. I guess the earlier plastics were less stable than the newer types.. In any case,Time is relentless..!
A Telly is a Telly a Strat is a Strat etc but a man's talent adds another dimension to the equation. Great playing.....
Thanks to all of you, beautiful people, for putting a smile in my face in these most trying times. Cheers, saudações do Brasil.
I don’t play guitar but I just love the sound of this ‘68 Telecaster. It is freaking fantastic!

Great song by Anne Bredon. Covered by Joan Baez and later stolen by Led Zeppelin. Took a couple of decades to get credit corrected.
this is by far one the the best tele tuesdays
Zeppelin played in Memphis in the early 70’s. What a show! Lemmo shredding it, Damn!
Rock on Lemmo! Lol! That was so cool! I wouldn’t miss a Guitar of the Day! It makes my day!
I am not a tele person, but I have to admit THIS ONE sounds exceptionally great on all positions. 🤩 I would buy it 🥰
Led Lemmo
I so want THAT guitar. Awesome sounding tone and beautiful workmanship.
Ahh the sweet sounds of a beautiful Tele. Fantastic GOTD! Kick butt Michael, loved the Zeppelin song. Great job Jen catching Norman's ballerinas!!
1968, the year of my high school escape. This is a beautiful Telecaster! Good Times by All!
Wow. Great sound. Beautiful neck. Isn't it great how music makes us want to dance and laugh? Well done crew!

I love the song. You are extremely talented and I love that 1968 Fender. Telecaster, just like the one my father had in 1968
Once again fantastic playing on a beautiful guitar

Awesome. Love these old Telecaster pieces and Michael Lemmo really rocks this one! 🎶🎶🎶🎶👏👏👏
What a fabulously sounding Telecaster, and covering a Led Zeppelin Song too, life really doesn’t get any better does it.
My birth year! I want even before hearing Lemmo play it
Way to go with the Clapton shirt!! Play more Clapton!!
Lemmo that was rocking it 👍🏻🖖
Today's choice of songs kicked ass...great songs, great guitar, great playing. Congrats dude.

Green Onions was cut with an Esquire.
@@mattrogers1946 Hardly the point
@@larrypower8659 Um, entirely the point. James Brown's guitar player Jimmy Nolen, played an ES-175 and a ES-5, so what's your point?

Feel like it's been a little while since we had a tele on here. Thank you
I wish the TH-cam algorithm let you know when viewers hit the thumbs up. Mine came at the first notes of getting the Led Out
Bellissimo! Who doesn’t love a Tele? Does AP live at Norms? 👍🏼

Great playing, nice guitar and the neck joint looks good. Unlike the recent CBS era example.
Love the telecaster

I thought backup dancers were supposed to be in the back! Hence the name BACKUP DANCERS 💃
Michael and jen🤘🏼
The playing is amazing but I wish Michael would give a little more history and context about that guitar. I have 2021 version

Question do people need a detailed comment to win 🤔
Anyone know what the first rift he played was?!
Pickguards crack cause people tighten screws too hard!
OOoh that is a great guitar .. I was born in 68' been looking for 68' guitar ..hmmmm :) Price ?? If you ask , you can't af.... hahaha lol .

Cheers everyone! That guitar sure is purdy. No idea what that first tune is but I was diggin’ it.
Hahaha u already know the dude at the guitar store wearin a Clapton shirt is gonna rip

That descending run in the first tune was as a smooth as a sprinter on a track
It’s not so much that the pick guard shrinks.. it’s the wood that moves with the air conditions…FYI…
