In 1967 and before, Fender was doing rosewood necks, with the "cap" of rosewood on the maple back. When they came back to making maple necks, the maple "cap" was added over the maple back. It makes the guitar really sweet-sounding, not toppy and bright, just a little smoother than other Tele's. The only Tele's I like better are the early blackguards from 1952-54. But the maple-cap 68 Tele is a killer Fender.
Greg is one of the best players I've seen or heard! He can play anything from rock to jazz and everything in between, but he also plays all genres at an extremely high level. What he doesn't know is not worth knowing.
For gods sake, these awesome guitar riffs are amazing. Wish there was tab especially for that riff around 3.28mins in, just beautiful! Magic, masterful, fantastic!!
Lookin good Greg, I've watched a lot of your videos, and your playing always makes these beautiful guitars shine,, but you really seemed to have a special union with this tele, you two seemed perfect together 👌

Late 60's teles.....Some of the best.C.b.s. hadn't gotten around to ruining them yet.

You just can't get better than an original tele.
I love his grooves. Forget the leads for a moment; Mr. Kochery plays phenomenal rhythm guitar.
As always with this channel, the guitars are beautiful and I'm always blown away by Greg's masterful playing
It sounds amazing, a joy to the ears.
This guitar sounds better than any modern Fender Tele I've heard!🙂 Great playing, Greg!👏
cant beat the real fenders
I was thinking that exact thing. Modern guitars will take you directly to, Mud City.
Too much fucking about and not enough playing I tell you gentelmen
these new videos are magnificent
Great guitar, amazing playing.
this mother lover could sell me any guitar he wanted
Liked even before watching. Please do more vintage demos!!
In 4 minutes he comes up with more creative licks and music than I have in my entire life.
But you could be 3 minutes and 30 seconds old only? 🤔
@@malthus101 rats I'm already 131,000 minutes by now!
Got one just like it and its a monster, wish i could play it like that! The thing is a great blues guitar and rock nirvana... so powerful, buy it!!!
Absolutely amazing guitar concepts and personality plus
Sounds like the modern custom fender which is really great on our part lol
AAWH! No more TONE KING Imperial? Loved that little beauty.
I know, just not too impressed with the Friedman...although it sounds alright on the clean...
the Wildwood lair looks a little different...
did you guys change the carpet?
WICKED Chicken Pickin Brother .... gorgeous!
Tele Tuesday!
Gregory Kochery is the Chuck Norris of the Telecaster!
Even a cheap soap box guitar would sound great in his hands
a wildwood ten CANT FREAKING DO THIS....TREMENDOUS VID
4:07 what a right hand!
in case you were wondering how Charlie Rose would demo a guitar
If only I could get my 68 to go that fast
I learned on a Squier
Proof the Tele bridge pup Is NOT “a ice pick to your eardrums” if you know how to use it.
I have to steal that lick at 0:53 .... :-)
Were did you get your guitar licence a lucky bag
7.25" radius - where to find one??
You using light Guage strings or 10 guage
Did they change the set? Why are you floating above a precipice of tonal harmony in a black hole?
Joey wants a nice and Squishy neck pickup too.
here again , I just haveto wonder how much better this tele would sound thru an old twin

I'd pay the asking price just to be able to play those two wild turnarounds
Greg uses the dark arts to play guitar at the level.
Still my dream axe.... plz Santa find me one....
Real 60's telecaster sound.. raunchy.. steel and bells..
Uh-oh, Wildwood is encroaching into the vintage market eh?
Kills it then says “right...lets go to that bridge pick up” .
the third chord at 0.06. please someone tell me which it is.
{x 0 5 5 3 7} A Minor 11th
Dave Bishea god bless ya
Dave Bishea And the other ones? Lol
Fishguit that one was particularly sweet
Soul chicken!
Doesn't sound like a vintage tele to me
IT SURE DOES,,,BUT YOU ARE THINKING 50S
Okay?
This comment is funny on many levels.
manna got skills
grandpa is a maniac
That guitar didn't want you to play any of that stuff...
non-original Fralin pups ... ah hem ... that's not vintage in my book but they do sound good ... truth in advertising please!???
Carl Wolf says right in the description that they're non original pickups. That's truth in advertising. Have a good day.
but not mentioned and having played a bunch of late 60s teles the fralins made a huge upgrade!
"tastefully scooped with a sweet eq "
so you changed the sound
WTF..!!!!
I’ve just been reminded of how awful of a guitarist I am 🥺
Way too much compression on the bridge pickup.... Kills the balance of tone on this Tele IMO..
no compressor was used
