One of the greatest and hippest bands ever in the world of jazz. 100 people are there. No wonder things are the way they are. So glad and so blessed to have been able to play so much of the Thad and Mel book and to have met Mel! A vey laid back cat.

I got to hear and record this band live in Chicago both before and after Pepper Adams split. He was a very important part of the band. He and Thad go back to teenage years in Detroit, and co-led a fine quintet for years. I LOVE watching Thad conduct, and listening to the result, both of his own band, and of the Basie band. He was a musical monster -- great player, great writer, great conductor.

This personell stayed with us in Munich for an entire 3 weeks. What an experience!!! We had enough time to get acquainted with all the band members. I was hanging with Jerry Dodgion, Pepper Adams, and Ed Xiques.

70s NYC sound and beyond. Thad took Big Band to such a high creative( not imitated) level which has not been surpassed to this day. 🙏🙌

Just a great (Danko/Reid) piano/bass intro of the lovely/sensitive ballad “Love Walked In”. Perfect choice for an fantastic lazy Sunday-afternoon and performed by a top band! Sadly folks we don’t seem to have this kind of passionate big-band music, and those pure ”innocent/carefree” days anymore .... So relax and lets Dig this fabulous Jazz band and those long lost playful days, thru the legacy they left behind for us to saviour. Enjoy & Cheers!

Sad to see those empty seats. Nowadays come on to Toronto’s Massey Hall -folks would pay hundreds to see a band this amazing.

This is one of the greatest hard hitting bands ever, still travelling soon to Japan , as the Japanese are quite adept at copying Western music of all types !
