Riding a Garbage Truck!! Rear Loader POV and Hopper Footage

- Working POV on the rear loader. These cans can get really heavy, especially when people fill them with wood, metal, etc. The hydraulic lifter on this truck is tricky and therefore time-consuming to use; we prefer to lift by hand to save time.
Note: We will use the hydraulic lift when it wouldn't be safe to lift cans by hand due to weight. You can tell that my boss is a lot stronger than I am.

Nice job 👍 i wish we had good people like you. my city's garbage company is terrible, they sometimes leave bits of garbage behind and sometimes break cans. I worked for them as well as a loader and one day we were loading an old cabinet and the hydraulic line busted spewing fluid everywhere. On top of that apparently they gave us a truck that was meant for recycling 🤦♂️

Keep an eye on the cylinder pins. The retaining bolts are missing. Most likely no grease causing pin to seize everytime you cycle sweeper the pin is moving. Don't want one of the to fall out that'll stop u dead in you tracks..
I hear it the same thing from our trash drivers Every day anyway. LOL
@@Joes_Chevrolete yea those grease worms just attacked one of my new 2020 Mack automated side loads. They ate all the grease out of the u-joint in the pto shaft and sailed it through the radiator.
I am watching this as I eat my lunch. Still have no idea why but 12 minutes in and I am still watching. Lol

I know this is a year old but the lid keeps getting in your way. Why not open the cans first and then dump them???

@@johnwatson9967 Not necessarily. In most European countries I only see garbage trucks with lifters for the bins. And no, that definitely doesn't take more time for emptying each bin...

Crazy that you have to lift the bins into the truck..! Seems bad for your back!! Why don’t they have tail lifts on the backs of these trucks?
They do, but this one is a little messed up / bent! We are trying to fix it

Yeah I work as a sorter at a transfer station my boss is a lot stronger than almost everyone lol I'm maybe one of the top 5 stronger ones he makes me look weak I'm 24 and hes 39 tho

So recycling and trash go in the same truck? Because I thought the pink and red cans were recycling.
Funny story on this one. So this subdivision is very far away from our shop, and one of the owners of the company was out delivering recycling cans in Omaha, and decided they didn't want to drive all the way back to the shop to get trash cans that day. So the first part of this route uses recycling cans as trash cans.
First time I ever did this route, I skipped the entire first half of the route thinking that everyone didn't have trash out, and had people chase me down in their cars asking why I was skipping all of their houses lol 😂

@@savagecatz They don't have recycling up there, save for 2 sparse houses who have green trash cans and normal recycling cans, which we drivers have memorized as to not accidentally toss it in with the trash

Oh yeah brother I’m self-employed as well have my own truck new way that’s what I like and it is fun as heck getting all those diapers and shit like that and all kinds of trash

But I got it done and it’s all good now ready for spring but yeah the diapers I collect yeah that’s a different story

just cant get why he wouldnt use the tipper
The tipper has a tendency to yeet the cans into the hopper, we just push the can against it and pivot it ourselves
It is so stupid to give people those big cans and not invest in decent trucks to empty them. Lifting those things like that puts a lot of wear and tear on the body. You can see that they don't completely empty the cans a lot of times and/or the stuff goes into the street. Ridiculous. I give credit to the guys emptying the cans because that is hard work but whoever is in charge of this operation is not too bright.
