It's awesome to check out something different from you and very refreshing to see some hopper footage of an Aussie truck again, probably not a great deal shown of the pendulum compared to the paddle either. Also get to see both the packing and some lifting action in one view here! Watching this makes me miss driving SPAKs, something about the blade going up and down like it does is, but just how cleanly it handles the job and everything else about it. I know which council you got this in, not hard to pick! Glad you had a decent driver consistently doing the lifts, gotta admit I was getting impatient during some of the longer driving shots waiting for the next bin to get tipped haha Looks like pretty decent recycling quality overall, always the odd few who clearly don't give a shit, and then there's the ones at 12:30 who do know what's actually recyclable, but they've got that extra item they need to get rid of that week lol That bin load at 5:15 was significant, you could really see the hydraulics working the blade to push that material through an already filled body. Spewing for him at 9:16, bloody bastards putting it too close, a frustration of side arming. Always bugs me how many people bag their recycling and don't realise it's probably going to get pulled out on the primary sort and sent away with all the other contamination to landfill... then there's the mixed recycling that's put into cardboard boxes and does the MRF process no favours either. Wasn't sure if I was going to sit through the whole 23min at first, but I did in the end, fun to watch =) I wanted to grab a hopper video of Fairfield garbage, attempted it on my final day there, but camera failed me as it usually does. Also had a crack at Blacktown recycle in one of the SPAK/Dennis years ago, would've been epic footage, but again the camera failed to record, such a shame =/
That's very cool how you are in Australia picking up recycling! In the USA the garbage truck have the hooper on the other side to pick up trash or recycling. I heard that a lot of garbage and recycling trucks have different metal pushers inside to push trash and recycling to the back of the truck.
One way to put trash into a garage/recycling truck is to have a flap to separate the trash from recycling. In the USA the trucks are made to have 2 capartments for trash and recycling. It's much faster to have one trash/recycling truck instead of having one truck to pick up trash and one to pick up recycling.
