I'm looking to do exactly what you've done in this video. I took out the fiur screws on the insert, but how do you dislodge the tabs? I'm a little tentative about removing them.

Hey man thanks for the video. I just got a 2016 tundra platinum (the grille insert is just like yours) and I want to change the grille insert but decided to paint it. How many bottles of each of the 12 oz bottles did you use in the insert (paint 202, clear coat and primer)? Also, did you sand the grille insert? Looks like you just cleaned it with a prep wipe and then started the paint job. Great video!!
I scuffed it with a 3m red pad. I had one can of each ,

Bobby Thanks for watching! Sorry about the Bumper wrap video, i haven't uploaded it yet. I'm Still editing the Video. The holidays have had me really busy . Its Next, not much of a How To Guide, more like a Watch Me Figure Out How to Wrap a Bumper lol. I bought the Wrap on Amazon, the seller offers it in all kinds of sizes. so i ordered one 5ft x 1ft piece just to see what the color difference would be. That One Piece was 13 dollars and wrapped the two rear bumper caps. Well worth the Gamble . The Front Wrap was a bit bigger and i spent 30 $. TheLateModelTech yes, I have the 2018 super white SR5 with blackout TSS package. Don't like the chrome at all and would like to replace it with the white, but keep my honey comb grill and paint it Black like you did
It might be hard to find just the grill surround by itself.Toyota doesn't offer it . I have seen some cheaper options on eBay, but I'm not sure of the quality . I'm pretty sure the honey comb grill will transfer into any pre 18 surround.

I have a question. I want to paint my chrome grill surround inferno orange and the inside black like yours. I actually have 2 questions. Where do I get the factory cans of spray paint? And second question, did you just prime, paint and clear it? No prep work?
The grill was just stuffed then painted.
Did you really have to take the emblem off to paint the grill? Just saying... RESPECT ✊ for the attention to detail!
Probably Not. The emblem comes off really easy from the back. Fyi the sr5 emblem is different than the platinum.
Did you use automotive touch up for the spray paint and did you sand the chrome? What primer? Self etch?
Yes automotive touch up supply's. Urethane primer. I didn't paint any of the chrome but maybe the old emblem . Scuff , prime ,paint.
It seams goofy the wrap color being different than the body paint but that was just my first impression and now I'm glad I didn't do that.
Just swapped mine on Saturday, got rid of the chrome one

How is the 2k clear holding up on the grill?Any chips or bubbles since your initial install. Thinking of spraying the chrome bulge and grill frame w/ super white on my sr5 18.
Holding up way better than expected. The paint seems to be more durable that the OEM toyota parts paint.

Can the 2018 honey comb grill insert fit on a 2014 ?
Yes. Any grille within the 2013 - 2019 range should be compatible. 2012 and prior are not compatible with 2013 or newer.
Can I use my sr5 emblem on the platinum grill that I bought without one ?
Nope

Prep sanding? Yes. Holding up fine, my last two tundra videos you should be able to see how it's been holding up.

Painting over chrome is always a bitch because of future easy chipping. How has the chrome painted parts held up over time?

When rattle cannin it I use this primer amzn.to/2qcpIEW and some base from touchup.com . When I use the HvLp gun I just head to the paint store and depending on the budget what brand I'll get.

Bumper Looks good. but there no point in blurring your plates. I always think it's funny people do that. Thousands of people can write down ur plate number every day.
Those thousand people you speak of are in my area where I live and work, and yea they can write down my plate. But having your plates on the internet gives out my information to the entire freaking WORLD sitting in front of a computer. Ever post any thing on Craigslist? How many scammers calls have you gotten. I have my reasons buddy. Think a little bigger.
