I see that there is quite a lag between moving the camera gimbal and the on 10" screen display. I would have liked to see the 10" screen as you moved the Mavic by hand.
Michael Mansell: Thank you! This does help. I adore FPV but as time has gone on I've become totally against full immersion goggles simply because they cut off all view of the local world, which is bad for SO many reasons while you're flying $1K+ worth of drone gear. I fly basically as a renegade so the perfect, "Chilling at the club" experience is not happening for me. Mainly, anyone can creep up on you and you won't even know unless you keep your drone aiming at you most of the time, which kills all the fun, and you can't relax unless you just don't care about what happens. A monocle is THE thing, as long as it has good image quality, and you can easily know where you are, where your drone is, and where everyone else is around you, including creepers, drone haters, police, aircraft, even and perhaps especially wildlife and scenic details in relation to your drone. I've done similar things in the past but only with composite video gear. HDMI is exactly the thing I wasn't thinking of, so HELL YES. Now I just need to petition congress for the funding, lol.
Samsung Galaxy series and note series phones have MHL output it takes an adapter that connects the USB on your phone and outputs HDMI. MHL stands for media hub link. Other top of the line Android phones also have MHL abilities also try this.
I had a Motorola razr that had a slim line HDMI output. It was really nice. No one does this anymore. If you want a small device with HDMI, you need an iPhone or iPod touch and the HDMI dongle. I plan on doing this with my Spark when it gets in.
William Decoteau ok, I thought that hdmi dongles for iPhone there is a lightning port only to charge the phone ? Have you tried it before like what you said?
Hi Micheal ! Great video. Is there a way that can both outputs ( the lateral one that goes to the phone AND the USB that goes to the tablet ) work toghether ???
Don't need a hdmi on drone or mobile device or a tablet to use any fpv goggles .I use my headplay goggles . I know its an old video and hope you managed to find out the easy way 👍
Purchased one of the tablets using your provided link. The latency is really bad. (using the mavic pro platinum). What tips or tricks did you use to get the onscreen display of the tablet to work?
Whould a Raspberry Pi 3 work with a portable powersource? That has both USB and normal HDMI, with a HDMI to mini-HDMI converter it should work right? Just an idea.
I'm trying to get into DJI's Digital FPV system for race drones. But I cant use their new goggles... Do you recomend any super low latency HD monitors that I can use as a substitute for the DJI FPV goggles?
Hi. I bought the recommended tablet Dragon x10 ultraOcta A83 Android 5.1.1 and it does not work well. The video is all with cuts. Almost always black screen. As if the processor would be exceeded. The error seems a cut by a broken flex, but when changing an Apple device everything works correctly. Any recommendation?
Hi there Michael Great video , how did you find the dragon touch tablet flying the mavic pro ? , i have the P3 ,P4 and also the mavic , i use a ipad mini 2 and its faultless and is brilliant , i am looking at a back up tablet and having seen the tablet you are using i looked on amazon and they are not a bad price and the specs are really high , many thanks, phil.
I recently bought the Dragon Touch x10 just for this reason and because of this video. I am having troubles getting the video image, I connect it in the same way to my android phone and the image is there... but not with the Dragon Touch. What am I doing wrong. Tried different cables... reversed them if possible... used both side and bottom ports on the controller. I am guessing it has to be a video setting or USB setting on the Dragon Touch. Please help.
Hi there. I bought the dragon 10 as you recommended and now the image in it is very laggy. How do you do for a smooth image? If I play 4 k movies is smooth but the direct feed from the mavic is laggy please help. Thanks
Question; I have a Mavic pro and have been looking for a decent large-screen alternative to my android cell-phone. Like the X10, but I've read all sorts of condemnations of the Dragon Touch X10, for use with the Mavic Pro. Unfortunately, no details on "why" it's not usable. I like the looks and features on the tablet, but am hesitant to purchase one due to the lousy reviews. What is your overall impression of this tablet, as you're using it?
I have the Avagant Glyph goggles I'd like to use with my new Mavic Air so I'm looking at a similar solution to this. How has that tablet been working? I found another version, the Dragon Touch V10 that has a gps, as the X10 does not.
In my case with the new "Mavic 2 Pro" the X10 Tablet doesnt Work!!! I mean it gets the Data from the Remote Control and i can see it on the Screen, but i get NO PICTURE! The Screen stays black! WHY??????????????? Is the X10 Tablet not strong enough? Is the Resolution to low? Or is the Android to old?
Am looking to purchase the dragon touch x10 to use as backup tablet for my P4 and mavic pro, does this work well with the mavic pro ? Any feedback would be great.

..the HDMI capability is in the tablet. Any cheap goggle with an HDMI input will work. Why bother with a single eye display for $199 when you've already invested in a tablet that you'll need to run the app and can look at with both eyes?
Very nice, informative video, Michael; I asked earlier, but didn't hear back from you, so... Question; I have a Mavic pro and have been looking for a decent large-screen alternative to my android cell-phone. I like the X10, but I've read all sorts of negative reviews of the tablet for use with DJI Go4. Unfortunately, no details on "why" it's not usable. I am hesitant to purchase one due to the lousy reviews. What is your overall impression of this tablet, as you're using it? Thank you!!
Yep; have been told that a few times, (might go that way) but.... "no HDMI out" which allows a 2nd "view" and is the attraction to the Dragon-Touch X10, and NVidia K1 Tablets. Thanks!!
There was noticeable latency using the cheaper tablet that I had. It got the job done though. My guess is that if you went with a faster tablet such as the Nvidia Shield tablet then it would be almost zero latency.
Dont work with the DjI Fly App because its newer i testet on a Dragon Touch K10 u cant install the .apk from DJI so this just work for old Drohnes with the older DJI App
Yes, but latency might be an issue. You will also need to use the controller buttons while in flight to operate camera and RTH etc because you will not have an operative OSD.
Quite terrible is fact that DJI is not supporting the simplest solution, standard HDMI out and you have to buy their shitty wireless helmet style goggles instead of using some proven solution or put together TV, two mobiles and god knows what else to get AV signal out. Unfortunately this behaviour is supported by their dominant market position.
I bought this tablet and found that it will not work as it locks up and is no good for the vidio as the processor is not enough for the app. What I did find was an adapter for my Ipad Mini that works as it converts my Lightning connector to HDMI plus gives me another Lightning connector for the remote and it works great with my Fat Shark V3.
I see that there is quite a lag between moving the camera gimbal and the on 10" screen display.
I would have liked to see the 10" screen as you moved the Mavic by hand.

NightRunner417 that’s awesome! As tempted as I’ve been to buy the DJI goggles I haven’t for that very reason!
I’m wanting to do exactly what you’re doing but fly my Mavic off of my gps screen of my boat.
I’m sure this is the right direction
Samsung Galaxy series and note series phones have MHL output it takes an adapter that connects the USB on your phone and outputs HDMI. MHL stands for media hub link. Other top of the line Android phones also have MHL abilities also try this.
thats great but how then do you connect the phone to the mavic controller ?
I had a Motorola razr that had a slim line HDMI output. It was really nice. No one does this anymore. If you want a small device with HDMI, you need an iPhone or iPod touch and the HDMI dongle. I plan on doing this with my Spark when it gets in.
William Decoteau ok, I thought that hdmi dongles for iPhone there is a lightning port only to charge the phone ? Have you tried it before like what you said?
SC Tjen HDMI adapter will not do data and the HDMI at the same time you need the data for the remote control connection
BRILLIANT!
Hi Micheal ! Great video. Is there a way that can both outputs ( the lateral one that goes to the phone AND the USB that goes to the tablet ) work toghether ???
Innovation in the making love it
Don't need a hdmi on drone or mobile device or a tablet to use any fpv goggles .I use my headplay goggles . I know its an old video and hope you managed to find out the easy way 👍
Sorry, I know this is an old video, but how does the tablet know how to display the data coming from the USB connection?
Hello, could you please check if DJI Go app recognize HDMI output under HD settings group? Or mirroring only is supported?
I believe only Mirroring.
I’m thinking about splicing a lightning to hdmi adapter into the lightning cable for my iphone and using the airplay function.
What about running Litchi and a plain AR/FPV holder for your phone? That works for the Phantom.
Cavu uses your phone camera for a view out of goggles to see your drone while using fpv. picture in picture view
Purchased one of the tablets using your provided link. The latency is really bad. (using the mavic pro platinum). What tips or tricks did you use to get the onscreen display of the tablet to work?
What HDMI cable did you use? You're link it to video description when to a tablet holder. Thanks
Great idea. Thanks for all your help!
Can It's tip get HDMI clean output?
Great Video... Your link to the HDMI cable comes up as the Tablet Tripod Mount...
What cable was that ???
Very interesting. But I tried to find the proper cable or adapter (Male mini HDMI to Male micro HDMI) no success !
Whould a Raspberry Pi 3 work with a portable powersource? That has both USB and normal HDMI, with a HDMI to mini-HDMI converter it should work right? Just an idea.
Hello what is the mark of your tablet?
Recently started getting errors related to iPad tablet overheating in 90+ weather... does this "cheap" tablet overheat at all in high temps?
Bro how awesome is that you’ve basically got all screen and controller is hidden... usually people seem to do the opposite lol
Freakin KAT yep! Lol
I'm trying to get into DJI's Digital FPV system for race drones.
But I cant use their new goggles...
Do you recomend any super low latency HD monitors that I can use as a substitute for the DJI FPV goggles?

WOW! Many thanks
Does the tablet have any lag/jumping screen while connect to magic? My table I have now has some jumps if I fly the mavic fast or turn fast?
Have you flown this setup and if so how bad is the video lag? Thanks so much for your time.
Good Old Cop there is a slight lag but it is still usable.
Very choppy with djigo4
Thank you for the video. Does this Android tablet draw power from the remote control?
No, the tablet has a rechargeable of its own.
Yes there’s a Sony Android with mini hdmi output
Does it have lag?
Hi there Michael

The tablet can't utilize the DJI app. The app needs a minimum of 2GB of RAM and the tablet's specifications describe it as having a single GB of RAM!
I recently bought the Dragon Touch x10 just for this reason and because of this video. I am having troubles getting the video image, I connect it in the same way to my android phone and the image is there... but not with the Dragon Touch. What am I doing wrong.

FYI.. all telemetry is there and functions... just not a live image feed from the camera.
Hi there. I bought the dragon 10 as you recommended and now the image in it is very laggy. How do you do for a smooth image? If I play 4 k movies is smooth but the direct feed from the mavic is laggy please help. Thanks
bonjour ces lunette sont vraiment que les dji googles ?
Hi. Do you know if it works if I use my fatshark v3 googles instead?
love this idea. something i will do for sure thanx so much..

Likely the screen is not bright enough, or Android is unacceptably slow. Brightness is the key factor when droning outside in sunny weather.
Hi is there not a Blue Tooth option between the pad and the glasses?
360 Skyline Drone Services no there is not.
I have the Avagant Glyph goggles I'd like to use with my new Mavic Air so I'm looking at a similar solution to this. How has that tablet been working? I found another version, the Dragon Touch V10 that has a gps, as the X10 does not.

Is Head-Tracking possible with the "Vulfine Wearable Display"?
Very nice, informative video, Michael; I asked earlier, but didn't hear back from you, so... Chad you need the latest iPad mini

Hi! i tried that config but i have lag with the signail from the mavic to the tablet
the tablet how compatible is it ?any lag or is it smooth?
Would an iPhone + "Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter" work?
No
NICE VIDEO. CAN YOU USE IN YOU LEFT EYE?
RAICES TV yes you can.
Nice setup. How is the latency from your tablet to the heads up display?
There was noticeable latency using the cheaper tablet that I had. It got the job done though. My guess is that if you went with a faster tablet such as the Nvidia Shield tablet then it would be almost zero latency.
The latency really doesn't matter as you're not really racing with the Mavic, just setting up shots.
is the latency really bad ? that will affect your recording operation ? i am thinking to get either Shield second hand or CrystalSky 7.8....
DJI go 4 in mavic 2 does not work for me, it can be done.
is that tablet running the DJI go 4 app? is the video smooth ?
The tablet can't run the DJI Go 4 app. The DJI app needs a minimum of 2GB of RAM and the tablet has but 1GB of RAM
Dont work with the DjI Fly App because its newer i testet on a Dragon Touch K10 u cant install the .apk from DJI so this just work for old Drohnes with the older DJI App
Does the Dji go4 app work on the tablet??
No, this particular tablet doesn't have enough RAM(the DJI Go4 app needs a minimum of 2GB of ram)
Thanks, unfortunately, they don't ship to the UK, strange!!
360 Skyline Drone Services Sad :(
This set up would work with the DJI Spark as well correct?
Yes
Avagant glyphs do on my k1sheild
Your HDMI cable link is incorrect!!!!!!!!!!!
Try "Cavu" free fpv for Mavic pro that works great!!
Not really convenient... I would go with a kind of raspberry on android (odroid) + hdmi output + usb to the remote and leave this 'huge' display
so you could use fatsharks with this setup
Yes, but latency might be an issue. You will also need to use the controller buttons while in flight to operate camera and RTH etc because you will not have an operative OSD.
es ram de 2gb??
No, la tableta en cuestión solo tiene 1 gb de RAM

avagant glyphs are better
The video lag on this is unusable. Awful.
Google goggles?? O_O 👀
What a pain in the ass! Dji really dropped the ball.
nvideo sheild
Let me know what you think of this Mavic Pro HDMI FPV solution
What is the brightness of this tablet? Did I mean the nits?
Michael Mansell well that I think is. It's a great idea. But "inexpensive" $200. Not what I think is inexpensive 😨
Jandmonline Could you share a link for that adapter?
Jandmonline Could you share a link for that adapter?
I notice you never move the drone to show the horrible lag....very deceiving. Hopefully no one bought that crap tablet.
I have to watch your video at 150% speed just so you f-ing spit out what you are trying to say without taking all day to do it. just fyi.
LMFAO...... I did the exact same!!
Sorry, I know this is an old video, but how does the tablet know how to display the data coming from the USB connection?
Hello what is the mark of your tablet?
Your HDMI cable link is incorrect!!!!!!!!!!!
