Bought my first Mini Excavator.at a auction (wanted something smaller to do slab work on my place then my 580C)
It was sold as DOA. had gas in the crank. Pick it up for just $1000 +18% auction fee and tax. And yes there was fuel in the crank. Shot out about 2" when I pulled the oil cap
Drain the crankcase. added oil and Marvin Mystery Oil. Pulled the spark plug and crank it for a min every 10 min. or so for about 20 times Drained the mix and added oil. Checked the float on the carb and found a bit of trash in the bowl. Clean the Carb, added oil. and it started right up.
I added a fuel cut off valve where it is easy to get to (below the seat outside between the operators legs)
Moved my throttle cable over where I have more moment on the throttle leaver from idle to full power (about 2/3 of the controller)
Added a small fan with a attic fan switch in the engine room as to cut the fan on and off (on about 115, off about 95). Fan is wired to a relay through the Acc side of the key switch.
Add a Hydraulic oil cooler with a thermostat (controlling the fan) mounted in the drain plug of the tank (used a cooled setting T-stat for it is at the bottom of the tank). oil cooler is wired as the cooling fan
Remember you only have 9 amps (or 108 watts) of charging to work with at the most.

Man just wanted to say thanks for posting. Straight forward and saved me much time. Do a DIY hydraulic thumb mod would be awesome.

Your 3 videos walked me through and I had the same issue. Followed your video and it worked great for a week and then began leaking again. I think it may be the seal on the interior side because it was paper like material and hardened. I pulled it off today. Do you have any recommendations on which seal to get? I have a vicsec13 and the carburetor was exactly the same. I’d also like to get a second carburetor as a back up, but I am not sure what type this is specifically.. I’m a novice at this and I’m not sure what make and model to purchase. Thanks in advance

Are you able to tell where the fuel seems to be leaking from? And is it a Briggs and Stratton or Rato engine?

Thanks for this video, my Chinese excavator has the exact same problem. I pulled the bowl and it was filled with gas with junk in it and particles at the bottom of the bowl. I didn't know how to take the carb off, now I think I know :-)
There was some junk in the gas tank, I syphoned the gas out and used the hose as a vacuum to get rid of it. Did you get your machine running good?

Yes it runs perfect. They are a little lean even with a clean carburetor tho I would recommend a bigger main jet.

Maybe you covered it and I missed it but check swing motor bolts. When I got my machine, i could rock the front boom while looking at motor and it would rock. Loose bolts and need loctite. Thanks, great video!

I did not cover that in this one. Ran out of daylight. Thanks for the heads up! I will be making more covering other sections of the machine soon!

I wouldn’t have bought anything manufactured in China before. But I will say this thing isn’t too shabby for the price. As long as you service it as soon as you get it make sure it is running right and do some things to help the engine cool its worth the money.

i got chinese 15 hp engines that start at -10 c no problem but the briggs wont start at 0c. it will with either lol its just like a big hoe. Anyway the main jet is plugged. Anytime you need the choke on to run thats the problem

I know. Watch part 2! Look at the butterfly on your briggs and you will see why it will not start when it is super cold.
