That four-pack of rachet straps in your video looks exactly like what I bought from Home Depot. I was about to take a pair of diagonal cutting pliers in order to get them out of the plastic case. I then wondered why they would be packaged so nicely and realized there are two clips that hold each strap in that plastic case. You have to look closely, but there are instructions by each strap that tell you how to do it. They are not good instructions but there are small tabs that must be lifted then the plastic holding the straps to the case can be slid away and the straps removed. Of course to get them back in you have to be certain to fold them just like when they came out. If you do one at a time and closely see how it works, in no time you can take them all out, fold them back and they will look just like the package you showed. By now you have either figured this out or destroyed the case to get to them. The socks are a good idea though. Good luck!
I bought a 4 pack of husky ratchet 12 straps & two of the ratchet's do not work properly one ratchet does not ratchet right & two of the four release does not work. Bought tonight will take back tomorrow.
Nice way to contain then in small area, only draw back is the sock will trap moisture and in the mid west you would have rusted/trashed ratchets in short time.
This is fake. We ALL know that if you sort out your straps, roll them up nicely, place them in separate socks or rubber bands, then place them in a storage room approximately 3 feet apart from each other, then place a large bin upside down over each one, then carefully shut the door to the storage room, then the very next day when you go in there to get one, they'll all be in a tangled ball in the corner that takes half an hour to sort out again.
Gumboot Zone Yep. They're sneaky that way. Similarly to their distant cousin the infamous disappearing Philips screwdriver. Don't know why but you can buy 10 philips screwdrivers & within a week 9 will have disappeared.
@@douglaspost5097 That depends whose underwear, I imagine there would be a queue for some nice, well worn, black lacey numbers, though I can't see those storing more than a DIY ratchet.
I found a bag with a cinch string around the opening and a bunch of dividers in it, designed for screws or fasteners. I use it to organize my ratshit straps.
Good golly that was a brutal intro. We know the purpose of a ratchet strap and perhaps the history of the ratchet strap too. I suggest cutting out everything until 2:10 into the video. I do appreciate the time you took to show us this but dayum cut to the chase a bit sooner. Thanks for posting.
I wouldn't use socks if they happen to get wet you can bet it will rust your ratchets out, I just wrap the strap around the ratchet and hold it with an inner tube rubber band. works awesome.
You see ....alls you gotta do is just stuff each ratchet strap into each clear pocket and it might take you a few minutes to stuff idk.....10 to 20 straps BOOM DONE DEAL!!! Where as you might spend a few minutes wrapping up ONE strap around itself...Aint NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT...If you ball it up and stuff it in the pocket , it cant get tangled up either...Also its easy to take inventory(when you have a lot of straps to keep track of)....you just count the pockets with straps or (the ones that are empty) to determine that you need to find a missing strap or 2...( easier than counting zipper bags in a box or such). This comment is in reference to my solution listed below,, Anybody see a problem with this method?????
I was at the Farm Science review in Columbus this past summer and found a guy selling ratchet strap wrappers, I bought a few off of him and they're 100 times easier, here's the guys website: wrapadoodledoo.com/
Why not just get a clear plastic womens' shoe rack with the multiple pockets arranged in rows and columns...with the closet door hooks.... I guess I will have to make a video...probably about 30 seconds long... and be done with the whole mess!!! BTW my company name is CHEAPBEST MOVERS....
I feel like such a dork for not thinking about using socks. my husband has so many socks with holes in them too. ha ha, thank you for posting this.
Truthfully most of my socks have holes in them too ;)
Great tip. I just did this to my ratchet straps. Thank you.
Sir you are a genius.

YEAH......That takes way toooooooooo LOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGG !!!!

Great idea will be using this idea.
Good idea. I put 1 inch thick rubber bands around mine and it works like a charm.
Nice way to contain then in small area, only draw back is the sock will trap moisture and in the mid west you would have rusted/trashed ratchets in short time.
Great idea. I use them to cushion microphones in storage too
Check out the NRS.com strap roll storage idea. No sock required, pretty sure! Bon voyage.
Pretty smart and simple lol

Gumboot Zone I know! I belive they are alive and evil!

Agree and my problem includes utility knives and tape measures.
I use dirty underwear to store mine..Works great! Straps are a little smelly but i just get one of those there air fresh things.
Ray Hinman probably nobody would be likely to steal them either

now that you solved my ratchet strap problem, what do you do for electrical cords
Maybe next video he will show you have to use boxer briefs to store electrical cords. :-)
a sleeping bag.
Get a yard of fabric, like a canvas, and sew a quick rectangle. So it doesn't look like you carry a bunch of old dirty socks.
I am 60 years old and the first ratchet strap I bought I was 26. They have been around a very long time.
Good idea!

if they get wet in your car / truck you have bigger problems to worry about
Can’t get views with rubber bands .....oh. Wait. He got views with socks.
And you got spare socks if you need!
MaximumJonathanosity but tangled straps
I had light ratchet straps in 1992 when I built my house.
Great idea. You could even use socks that have a small hole in the toe. That way you get more life out of your socks.
Friends riding with you *"bro why do you have so many dirty socks laying around in your truck"*
I leave all my straps wadded up in a ball. Sure, it takes half an hour to untangle one but I'm paid by the hour.
I'm just a soul whose intentions are good...Santa Esmeradla. If nobody else has mentioned it.
Over 3 and a half minutes to simply say "use a sock." Do you love the sound of your own voice?
That was funny!
Dumb idea... I use a ratchet strap to hold my ratchet straps together
a ball bungee works just as well
In all fairness, socks are common enough you don't need to spend extra money for them. Granted ball bungee is affordable.
I just use my old socks that have gone religous!
Koko 3052 I go to my buddy's house and get their socks so I don't have to use mine
Don't let me be misunderstood . . . once that got in my head I kind of phased out .
Spoiler alert: Stick them in a sock. The end.
They've been used for at least 40 years.
Brilliant idea. But fucking dude, this could have been a 30 second video.

that socks
He stores them in socks. There, I saved you some time.
I use electrical tape last 15 years it works just fine
I guess I'll keep using a rubber band...
Perfect!
just get some velcro zip ties or just a length of velcro
I'm even cheaper, I use a rubber band.
SMART!
