I've been pulling my hair out over ratchet strap how-to videos that used too much jargon without explaining and just confused me even more, this is the first one that actually made sense and clearly shows the process step-by-step! Thank you so much!
One of the best how to videos on TH-cam (not even just ratchet straps). Simple, clear, no fluff but still some good extra tips and tricks I didn’t consider. I tried using these straps in the past and got a set so tangled I had to throw them away. This video took that anxiety away and now I can use the straps no problem, so thank you!
ratchet straps are so useful for so many purposes - I use them for woodworking also- (clamping) - clamped a water heater to a hand truck and haul it around the back of the house- vice - versa with old leaky one- couldn't live without them - the video was very instructive- and easy to follow- well done
Awesome HOW TO tutorial that took the frustration out of setting up the rachet n operating it for years ! Mine prior were either too loose the straps or bundled up in the rachet !!! Kudos for upload. Peace
Many thanks bro for showing this video straps, it helps me so much, I have so much problems until now it makes sense, appreciate your time, never able to use properly strap in the past.
This really did it for me. I've been doing it wrong. Out of three people we where all doing it wrong. The trick is to pull up the slack first and then should only need to ratchet a few times like it says in the video. I thought it was like a spool, like how you treat fishing line, that you were supposed to ratchet up a whole bunch of slack, WRONG.
The one safety tip I would add is to have the ratchet on the passenger side in case you need to adjust tension while traveling you will not be on the traffic side of oncoming vehicles.
All the available ratchets on the market are still basic and simple. Tons of room for improvements. The open hooks on the ends are hazardous. If the load shifts or moves at all and the strap loosens; the hooks come unhooked and the whole strap assembly can fall away. Snap carabiners on the ends would be much better. I've been cutting off the hooks lately and adding carabiners. Also some sort of Velcro or rubber strap to bundle up the excess strap. And yes; I've seen all the TH-cam videos on various ways to store the excess.
I've had many instances in the past of threading mine incorrectly and having a bundle of webbing in the ratchet, but in this video it made sense to me when I saw the two parts laid out flat with each other then how easy it was to thread the strap webbing through the windlass, pull up the slack then ratchet the strap tightly.
I'm thinking some kind of velcro/hook & loop strap for holding the excess webbing together, rather than a cable tie. No need to cut & waste the cable tie and just loop the velcro onto one of the hooks when not in use.
Thanks for the demo. I have several rain barrels and eventually a vertical crack appears, but leaks only when full because of the expansion. I'm going to gird one tightly with a ratchet strap and see if that helps. First a couple of layers of silicone caulk on the crack.
gr8 vid, I’ll guess this ‘it’ that you ‘pulled up’, with you hand blocking view, was that same lock release wat-evr-U-cald-it lever gizmo a 2nd time? 🤔
I don’t think it’s right to suggest a cable tie be used ever time, and then have to be cut off. A small nylon and Velcro strap should be supplied that can be used to secure the excess, and it can be reused over and over again. Probably about 2-3 cents each.
You were doing great until you got to the zip-ties... Watch these videos to learn a better way to deal with the excess strap. Small Straps th-cam.com/video/dC9CS1ewrOA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=G7IumZSAn3DajQBu Large Straps th-cam.com/video/oJ3hwv9YY_c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OaHnaZcQ2jVONAa0
The zip tie idea is the dumbest thing ever. You're wasting zip ties and now you need to make sure you have something sharp to cut it or you're SOL. Harbor Freight is a joke.

I’ve always struggled with these sets. This video was literally like a video game cheat code for me. Now I love using these sets. Thanks!
You had the best instructions by a mile
THANK YOU!! I’ve watched 4 other videos and this is the only one that worked for me!
The best video demonstrating the correct use of the ratchet
THE ABSOLUTE BEST NO NON SENSE INSTRUCTIONS..... THANK YOU
I have seen many of the other videos, but yours stands out as the most complete and comprehensive. Nice work.
Been doing construction for 15 year and these damm straps have always been my enemy!!!
Yes
why
😂😂😂
Thought it was just me!
I throw my straps, used ropes instead.
One of the best explanations on how to use a ratchet strap that I've seen on You Tube. Great job.

This has been the most useful tutorial ever! I’m a female that had no idea how use this. Thank you!!

this is by far the best instructional video on the topic I have seen. Very clear straight to the point. The best thank you so much.
The one safety tip I would add is to have the ratchet on the passenger side in case you need to adjust tension while traveling you will not be on the traffic side of oncoming vehicles.
Good point!
Beautifully explained, thank you so much!!! Took me 5 videos to finally find one that was simple and easy to understand. Glad I found yours!
Just bought a package of Haul-Master ratchet straps, and have never used one before. This video made it easy. Thank you!
Best demonstration on the web - thank you!

See what you mean, Velcro to hold the extra would be great
thank you. All the info I needed without any extraneous chatter to confuse the issue. Nicely done video.

Best video on ratchet tie downs. Thank you
I’m trying to tie down my trampoline… had to pause to watch your video so I could continue with my project. Thank you so much!❤
Thank you. I was getting so frustrated. Your video really helped me.
That toss of the webbing at the end was a beauty
Great video. Very informative. It really helped me tackle my issue with them coming loose.
Great straight forward explanation how to with slack with zip tie.
Useful to people who bought their first truck or suv.
Without sarcasm
Thank you for a concise and clear video- you saved me!
Love these straps. Alway have a few on my truck!
Brilliant presentation 👏
Thank you for making this so easy to understand…
Thank you, Thank you, after I watched this it was so easy...
very good, detailed just about enough no more no less-thank you
I couldn’t do this to save me life thanks so much
Very clear and helpful thank you!
Perfect, well done, sir!

Good description for a beginner.
Good job you went right into it
Excellent tutorial tyvm
Well done, THANK YOU!!!
Fantastic demo thank you somuch
That's all well & good. Now, how do you properly stow it so it is easy to deploy & use next time?

Great video.
Thank you so much for the video. I made a mess of mine. TWICE🤣🤣
No need to zip tie, there are numerous creative ways to secure the excess strap.
rubber bands, shoelaces, etc
I've used ranger bands to deal with the excess straps.
Outstanding!
Well done
This is a good video thanks a lot
Awesome. Thank you
Good show
Another well rated video went too fast in middle of explaining yours however was perfectly explained beginning to end. Thumbs way up
The ratchet strap was innovative when it was introduced. I use it mostly to install smaller tires like trailer tires
No mention of edge protectors, tie-down angle or friction mats and how to estimate the needed DaN rating and number of straps?
Arbor Fright
coming soon to Australia
I always put one twist on each strap so that they don't give you that wind noise and vibration when hauling in an open bed.
Nice 👍 thanks
When daughter was young, always pointed out to her all of your straps along the roadside. #garbage
Harbor Freight, wanna collab keep up the amazing work
Great except the zip ties. Look up video by “Dirt Road Therapy” on securing excess ratchet tie down strap. No zipties, no knives.
These things piss me off way too much
at 4:38 "pull it up and keep going." and then "ya hear that pop?"I'm not sure I understand - I don't want to break the lever.
thank you
Open it then go straight through so it doesn't roll up on its self & when you pop it it comes straight out. Flatbed driver here.
No don’t pull it through!! Now I have to watch the beginning again 😂
This is clear and concise, but it fails to tell me how to identify the back of the ratchet.

How bout not deleting negative reviews posted by purchaser.
Your arm was blocking the part of release
A zip tie is not a good idea because you are tempted to use a sharp object on your strap to remove it.
Can’t believe he used a zip tie
I know right? What do you use?
I just tie it
So I don’t have to worry about wasting a zip tie
Or even looking or going to get one
Just ratchet it down
Tie up the slack and move on
You were doing great until you got to the zip-ties... Watch these videos to learn a better way to deal with the excess strap.

Terrible design really

Guy gets to the part I need to know and he blocks the fucking camera.
Did it Wrong Got Poo on my Finger!
Hate them!
Video to long
I guess I learned something today.
Thank you
