      Some of us in NYC, did not sleep on this movie. The weekly feature Drive In Movie presented a preveiw of Dirty Ho for next week @ 2:45pm. At 2;30pm that Saturday, my friends and I said goodbye and we will meet right back here at 5;30PM.

      I watched it because I found the name very silly. It ended up being one of my favorites.

    I remember sitting in the Music Palace and the Sun Sing theaters in NY Chinatown for hrs watching these before they hit main stream America and dubbed. I learned Mandarin Chinese from watching these movies. Many of these were done in the 1950's and the 60's but got here in the 1970's. Lau Kar-Leung their choreographer was filming in 1950's. These movies will always be classics. RIP Lau Kar-Leung. Lo Lieh with the Kwan Dao - Dragon Head, The rest with what looks like a half of a Monk Spade [AXE] [My bad its a metal bell weapon. And a 3 section Bo staff. Even thought its step Gong Fu, it took a while to get this fighting scene down pat.

      Two great legends I’ve got many movies from Lau Kar Leung (Legendary Weapons of China) one of my favs with Gordon Liu (36 Chambers of Shaolin) Lo Lieh is another great from the Shaw Brothers studio. I grew up with them in England in the 80’s as a child with my cousins having them on VHS.

    I am so surprised that Shaw Brothers never considered doing a movie about Guan Yun Chang with Lo Lien playing the part, considering his overall skill with the use of the guan dao.

    Lo Lieh must have spent many hours being coached on the use of the guandao to almost make it as impressive as Guan Yunchang himself.

    Play it at 1.5 speed and it's more like the realistic speed of reacting to an attack. Wonder why they filmed the scene with pauses. Probably real weapons being that it was made in China, from what Chinese actors have said.

    • @sdjslkdjlsskldjslkdjsl8262
      @sdjslkdjlsskldjslkdjsl8262 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      They used some real weapons, and fight choreography from this era tends to be "beat-based". that's just the rhythm of peking opera-infuenced performance arts (which is where kung fu choreography in movies largely comes from). You can see it much more egregiously in movies like Sammo Hung's "The Victim". In comparison this fight is pretty fluid.
      Also keep in mind a fight scene with 5 people has a lot of "visual noise" for the viewer to decipher.

      you can't just cut though wood if merely because its metal and sharp, otherwise kungfu masters in ancient times would have time fighting with staffs

    • @cruciferousvegetable
      @cruciferousvegetable 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, in the street. No rules and gloves to protect them.
      Not too many left today. Kung fu will unfortunately die out. It takes too much work, too many years for too little glory.
      But Chinese gong fu is more fun and any of the others.
