    When I was younger, I wanted a Vypyr 3, I even got to try the Vypyr 2 from a friend. Ultimately I went with a BOSS Katana MK2 but these Peavy amps are great for metal

    Great review! I've got VYPYR MK1 30W (80W output) and can say, considering the reviews and my own experiences, that they sound more like Bandits with lots of modes. They are extremely loud for practice amps and best used for metal with enough of a 5150 taste. Wish You good health and clear mind man!

    Its so traditional to down pick & move the fingering hand positions accordingly. we hit a root note & quickly get the other fingers where they need to be while moving smoothly across the strings with the pick . 90% of playing is done that way. ...Ive been trying to play backwards. hit the higher notes moving my pick upward towards the fat string just in time for the root note.

    I pair my vypyr x2 with my 6505+112 with loop effects and they sound magical together. Also a slaved amp out of the di for more movement around the room. I'm very very pleased with this amp and haven't really turned on any of my other amps or headrush after getting it.

      I'm basically using this amp as another reference speaker to see how close it sounds to the real deal and I'm surprised to hear it stacks up well. I also use it as another monitor with a classic aby pedal on your setting. It's great for clean to dirty switching between the vypyr for clean and the real thing for dirt! The precision drive is the best pedal to use with the vypyr BTW. Cheers

    I'm trying to decide to buy the Peavey X3(100 watts) or a Hughes and Kettner combo of some sort. I had the Blackstar Black Spirit 200 it was an awesome amp but the amp had a problem powering up when it was below 68 degrees.

    I have the Vypyr VIP 2. I'm just a beginner player, so for me it's been a great amp. I don't do too much loud high gain stuff, so the Tube Screamer hasn't been an issue for me. I'd say if I had to upgrade I'd probably still go with the Peavey, although I also like the Fender GTXs as well.

    😊please advise or tell me peavey vypyr x2. 1. Question: This combo can be used for recording, and the second question: how do you think if you buy the noise reduction separately, it will become better (thanks sir).

    • @ChilledGuitarReviews
      @ChilledGuitarReviews  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In theory it should be usable for recording but honestly if it was me I'd use one of the affordable modellers like Headrush MX5, Valeton GP200 etc. Far more flexible than this amp. With a noise gate it should be much improved!

    Clean ut does sound great 👍 but no gate boy does that hurt. Shame it could have been pretty great for the price... And those extra features with only the pedal which is more money??? If any new guys reading this for the new croud look at the Katana and measure everything else you try to compare it to. Fixed un-adjustable noise gate was the main reason I got rid of my 1st gen Vypyr Tube 60 (yes, they had a tube Vypyr!). It was so aggressive, that at the room volumes chocked note tails. I believe the only version with adjustable noise gate was Vypyr Pro 100, discontinued. Regarding this X2 - mono effects only, even through USB, is a disappointment. I think, though, that looper can be controlled with Sanpera 1, which is ~130 USD, much cheaper than Sanpera 2.

    • @ChilledGuitarReviews

      @@ChilledGuitarReviews I'd assume they still have something fixed built-in. But with fixed, it is either too much or too little. Overall, I don't understand why noise gate is such a continuous issue for all generation Vypers. The $100 Zoom MS50G has an adjustable noise gate, for god's sake.

      I had this same issue with the original Vypyr. The Guitar Center guys gave me a hard time when I returned it saying that I was the only one who had ever returned one or complained about the note tails fizzling out. It sounded great otherwise so I'll probably pick up one of these new ones but I can understand how the lack of an effective noise gate would be an issue for someone who plays high gain stuff.

Also great video. One trick I found to help with saving presets is to make sure you are saving your new preset to a channel you are not currently on. The amp sounded great but I felt like I was missing the tightness, clarity and punch, but I have been wanting another amp that I can have as a backup. I had the peavey vypyr X2 and sold it. The amps for metal are just great but all the rest is pretty much unnecessary. Even conected with the usb in the pc it acted as an audio interface but you could not split the audio to hear it in the studio monitors. As for all the bass/acoustic/effects, just rubbish. Peavey should had focused on making the ultimate metal amp for practice improving the desktop app and also making the amp more versatile for shaping tone. Maybe in 10 years they will realize it....
