What are the differences in the lower units between the C and D models? The new D model lower units look like they have a lot less meat on them than the older C model ones?
The D model has a totally redesigned lower unit, where they did manage to cut out quite a bit of the "bulk" and weight, while maintaining the durability.
Hi Chris - Tohatsu's 40hp motor is a part of a different "family" than the 25/30. We are currently on the A model for the MFS40, weighing 209 lbs at the lightest version. So we're close!

For the MFS30D, with electrical start - you would be looking for the MFS30DETS or MFS30DETL (short "S" or long shaft "L") and then you would order the multi-function tiller handle separately.
That is extremely sexy, and so is the new motor.
this might be first so-so portable 3 cylinder 4-stroke engine out there. The weight is really impressive with all this tech.

A lot of new features from Tohatsu , I have an older 30 that still runs very well!!
Ive got a 2014 MSF20 and it runs like new😊
Is Mercury going to get this model as well? I dont have a Tohatsu dealer close to me.

Tohatsu.. With proper maintenance, and even a small amount of common sense, these boat engine's seem to last forever. Smooth INDEED..

What is the fuel consumtion at max RPM/speed ?
The 30D fuel consumption is 2.7 gallons per hour or 10.3 liters per hour. The 25D fuel consumption is 2.3 gallons per hour or 8.8 liters per hour.

Our MFS50 is completely built by Tohatsu at the Tohatsu Marine Corporation plant in Japan. No on "co-builds" it.
