Worst Roller Coasters by Manufacturer

- There are many great roller coaster manufacturers out there. Not every roller coasters is a winner though. Some manufacturers have made a series of duds. Some manufacturers only make a bad coaster every so often. Some haven’t made a bad coaster. In this video, I will share the worst coaster from each manufacturer that I have personally ridden.

I actually like Zamperla Volares. I want to clarify that after multiple comments were asking why I excluded them from this list. I have a whole review explaining why they're fun for me.
Hey canobie coaster for the last time can you go to lagoon and investigate primrodial?
Have you ridden Time Warp, that's a Volaire. I'd like to try it first before I diss it.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I agree - I even marathoned time warp (when it was tomb raider) for a bit. I've always been really good at bracing my neck for rougher coasters. So I don't really get headbanging on Volares.
stunt pilot casually being better than every other coaster on this list combined sums up how incredible rmc is at creating layouts
Pretty much!
Really everything except Gravity Group does apply for this. Switchback is solid though, The only two good rides on this list.
When RMC's "worst" ride is better than the best ride from almost any other manufacturer, you know they're the GOAT.
True!
This could be a hot take but I despise Thunderbolt at Luna Park. When I rode it, not only was it the worst staple I’ve ever experienced, but the ride broke down and I had to stay in the seat. Once the ride started working again. Not only was the seat uncomfortable, but the ride was also rough. I’d pick that ride for Zamperla. At least for the ones I’ve ridden
I'm fine with Thunderbolt (which is the 'best' ride by Zamperla on the other list), but you're not alone in your assessment.
Its not even close to being a hot take I personally love it but I can name off at least 50 people who dont
I've heard people criticize that ride before. It's not a hot take.
If Switchback is your worst coaster, you must be doing something right.
I agree.
It would be better if it weren't so rough
For Dinn, I nominate "Hercules" at Dorney Park; you needed to see a chiropractor after riding it!
For Wisdom, how about "Pirates Hideaway" at Casino Pier? At the least, the pirates did a heckuva job hiding from the riders!
Pirates Hideaway? Don’t you mean “Warehouse: The Ride?”
Pirates Hideaway is comically bad, but not as painful as Tiger Express.
Prior to Titan Track, Predator at Darien Lake was awful, especially when they used to run those PTC trailored trains which jackhammed and shuffled around the track. Now it's much better since they are putting Titan Track on it and are using Holiday Worlds old Voyage trains on it.
Surprised to not see Mine Blower for Gravity Group, but also happy about it. I genuinely enjoyed it when I rode it for the first time this year. I always heard how bad it was, but the RMC track seems to have helped a lot! I absolutely adore that ride, and I'd go as far as to say it's one of my favorites in Florida!
Edit: seeing a ride that's basically the same thing as the coaster I live about 15 minutes from as the pick for Wiegand is kinda saddening, but also... yeah, the shooting is awkward on those lol I'll take their standard mountain coasters any day!
Mine Blower would have made the list before RMC added the steel track.
Thanks for talking about Blue Tornado. Gardaland is my home park and for some reason unkwnown to me people here love that ride and it's easily the second most popular, if not the most popular ride in the park, but I always found it unbearable. Last time I rode it it left me with neck pain for a week. It did recieve a partial refurbishment before this season's reopening, and while I have yet to ride it people say it runs smoother now, but it's still on the rough side.
I'm stunned SLCs are as popular as they are.
me personally when i went to dubai, i loved green hornet it was a fun ride and it wasnt really shaking turns felt like a normal wild mouse and the drop are sharp.
I couldn't find a truly awful Gerstlauer, but that was the worst of the bunch I've done (excluding kiddie coasters).
@@CanobieCoaster In my opinion the worst Gerstlauer Ive done is probably SAW: The ride at Thorpe park. IDK what it is with that ride, but it is just way rougher than any other Gerstlauer coaster Ive ever ridden, downright uncomfortable.
Hurts seeing Mean Streak on here, but I get it. There's a reason it's SteVe now. I just remember how much I loved it during my first trip to CP in 1999. It was my first "big" coaster, and i left with it as my favorite ride in the park. That only lasted a year until Millennium was built, but even when it got rough, I still loved it just because of the memories. Rip Mean Streak ❤.
I definitely prefer Steel Vengeance.
@@CanobieCoaster well yeah, it's an objectively better ride and not by a small amount. I just wish there was a world where OG Mean Streak before it got rough and SteVe exist at the same time. Mean Streak was also a really good first ride of the day after it got rough; no line, and everything felt smooth after(even Magnum).
The Calm Music in the background is such a Nice touch :)
Thanks!
Probably first time I ever see Blue Tornado being mentioned as the worst SLC, sadly it's from my home park :D the pain and the rattle used to be tolerable until 10 years ago, didn't mind multiple rerides at all, then after covid times it became so unbearably rough I couldn't tolerate more than 1 ride. Apparently some minor improvement have been made during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, but haven't tried it first hand :D
I heard they improved it slightly, but I haven't been since 2019.
It’s surprised that vortex at carowinds didn’t make the cut here. It’s still a standup and it’s the only b&m that’s ever left me with lasting pain.
That one is tolerable with my riding position.
I don't think Underground at Adventureland isn't too bad, but that was my childhood ride
It's not as bad as many on this list, but it is weaker than CCI's other big coasters.
Out of the ones I have ridden:
Premier Rides: Runaway Mountain. I've only ridden this and Mr Freeze from Premier. While Runaway Mountain is fun in total darkness, Mr Freeze just outclasses it in every way and both broke down when I went to Six Flags on Memorial Day Weekend.
RMC: Tie between New Texas Giant and Iron Rattler as they're both solid.
Vekoma: Probably the Boomerang at St Louis, was slightly rougher than the one at Fiesta Texas from what I can remember.
B&M: Batman, only one I have ridden.
Giovanolla: Titan (only one I rode) but I have heard Goliath is worse because the mid-course brake run brings you to a full stop on that one but not on Titan.
Schwartzkoph: Shockwave, only one I rode again.
Intamin: La Vibora, fairly rough and was closed when I went.
All fair choices.
13:39 there is a clone of this ride in Cornwall, UK called 'hornet' and has arguably more severe braking. However I personally really enjoy the coaster myself so I suggest riding it if you ever get the chance!
I'll wear a cup for safety then.
Flambards...had to name check it on this channel. The only non kiddie coaster for hours from where I live.
Mind you, I live near the beach. 😆
The hornet is faster, in so far as it only really hits the brakes ridiculously hard on two of the brake sections.
Other fun fact, the hornet is the UK's most southerly rollercoaster..
Before I watch, I'm gonna take some guesses...
B&M: firebird
Intamin: Green Lantern
Mack: Tulireki
Schwartzkopf: Knightmare
Gerstlauer: (idk some sort of eurofighter)
RCCA: Coaster Express (obviously)
S&S: Screamin squirrel
Vekoma: Blue Tornado
GCI: Roar
CCI: Pegasus
PTC: Wildcat (Compounce)
Gravity Group: Mine Blower
Chance: Toboggan
Quite a few of those were correct.
Pegasus is probably the worst coaster I've ridden out of 307. There might be something worse but I can't think of one off the top of my head.
I remember riding Switchback at ZDT'S amusement park back in 2021. As far as I can remember, I remember getting off the ride 2 or 4 times with a headache.
Same, it probably hasn't gotten any better since
It got worse between my 2020 and 2023 rides.
My 2021 rides were rougher than my 2018 rides. I still enjoyed it a lot, but Mine Blower literally tried to snap my neck in half. Maybe the trackwork on it will lift it up, but it's my current least favorite coaster of all.
3:20 mean streak knocked the wind out of my cousin and I in 2009. It hurt so much lol
Ouch!
Bradley & Kaye: Magic Flyer at SFMM is inferior to Timberline Twister because it’s a single oval
CCI: Zach’s Zoomer at MA is my current number one but is the only CCI I’ve ridden, so it’s both the best and worst.
Chance Morgan: Woodstock Express at MA is decent, but the weakest I’ve ridden by the manufacturer.
Miler: Great Pumpkin at KD is also their only one I’ve ridden.
Zamperela: Back at the Barnyard Hayride at MoA is just an oval, but if you don’t count that, then Road Runner Express at SFDK.
Zirrer: Cobra at SFDK is the only Zirrer I’ve ridden at the moment.
Definitely worth trying some larger coasters.
Flight Deck is rough. Time Warp gets alot of hate too. Their days are numbered. Enjoyed the video Canobie, thanks.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks!
1:52 lol nut pain. Iron Wolf at Six Flags Great America was horrible for the nut pain! My buddy got it worse than me and it was bad
I have a technique that works on most stand-ups, but Apocalypse was simply too rough.
5:21 - Quick question, did the employees balance the riders on Green Lantern? The parks in Europe do that (as they should instructed by the manufacturer) thus making the experience much more tolerable, but in the video it looks like at least the latter car is severely unbalanced.
I don't remember too well if they did. I didn't ride it many times.
How was the bottom of the first drop on Wild Train
Fine
You nailed the Intamin Green Lantern right. That ride was hardly operational when I was at Six Flags because it kept getting stuck, so they had to close it all the time. Currently we have one at Kings Dominion it's made by S&S Sansei Technologies. Also if you ever took a ride on the Grizzly roller coaster made by Curtis D Summers/Taft Broadcasting, you might not feel safe if you're in the front row.
I don't find any of the Grizzly coasters painful.
Canobie, what is your opinion on the city of Quahog?
From Family Guy?
Speaking of Togo, they updated the restraints on the New York, New York coaster in Vegas and the last time I rode it was extremely painful.
I didn't mind the old restraints, but the new trains look like an upgrade.
@@CanobieCoaster I remember getting slammed on the first big drop (after the initial drop) and I had bruises near my ribs for a few days after
Skyrider.❤❤❤❤❤
Maybe rank each of the best & worst in lists by which one is you favorite or least favorite. That could be a twist towards these kinds of rankings
Goliath would be many manufacturers best coaster so that's no1 definitely
Maybe I'll do that next time. Thanks for the suggestion.
I think the only manufacturer for whom I've ridden enough coasters to have a reasonable opinion is Arrow. And the objectively worst Arrow I've ridden was the infamous Drachen Fire at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The frustrating thing was that it was a *great*, exciting layout--but the execution made it a pain machine. When I was a young man, I could take this. If it existed today I'd give it a miss.
The worst PTC at parks I've visited is almost certainly the Compounce Wildcat--but I haven't ridden it, because I'm just not enough of an enthusiast to waste time on coasters that are universally considered bad. I frankly have not ridden a bad PTC. Mr. Twister scared the hell out of me the first time I rode it, but that was entirely its intention.
I was morbidly curious of Drachen Fire, but didn't get on it before it was removed.
9:35 I assume you've never been to Montezum. I went on it a couple of weeks ago and got bruised on the leg because of the amount of jackhammering, that is the coaster that needs the rmc treatment the most
When I rode Coaster Express, I didn't think it was rough, but just boring, but again, it was after the retrack, for me, a plain 5/10 would be a good score
Correct, I have not been to South America. I've heard Montezum is terrible.
“Nut pain” took me outttt 😂
Took me out too.
I personally enjoy backlot stunt coaster because its one of the good starter coasters at canada's wonderland but yeah i think they need to fix the theming and maybe bring the effects back
Premier hasn't really made a bad coaster, but that was the worst of the bunch.
I only rode these once each, but my ride on Texas Giant was easily worse than my one on Mean Streak. I honestly think that Zambezi Zinger is my least favorite GCI, just behind Roar. I only rode Gotham City Gauntlet once, because it was closed during most of my visit, but that one ride was excellent. I don't think any of the brakes hit, and it was truly wild. Maybe that's why it was then closed the rest of my visit.
Gauntlet is frustrating because it can give good rides, but it doesn't always. I am not surprised Texas Giant was rough in the end.
Great video but you forgot Giovanola. Flashback/Z-Force their first coaster, that got worse with every relocation. 😂
I didn't ride that one.
I'm surprised you didn't put Hades 360 or Mine Blower for Gravity Group. Also, I agree that the Ski Lift Shootout Coaster is kinda awkward.
Mine Blower would have been the pick before it got some RMC track. It's now tolerable again. Hades is extremely rough, but I'll tolerate it for that amazing layout.
Honestly for pinfari, if defunct coasters would’ve counted, I would honestly have to go for tornado at scotlands M&DS amusement park
That ride looked awful.
For RMC I think the raptors could grow to be terrible problems at their park due to their designs
Agreed. And the prototypes are rough
Fr
@mattyorshin you just got bad rides btw
@@HugeRMCFanBoY-bx3od na wonder women was super shaky last year
@mattyorshin My rides from 3 years ago were great so it just depends on the year
The great escape needs to scrap ethier the canyon blaster or steamin demon for an SLC with the good harness like at six flags New England
I just got my 500th coaster on Range lol. It lived up to the rough hype
That was my 750th coaster just this past Saturday. It certainly was something 😂 on a side note, was sad to see Super Gyrosphere was gone
That's a milestone lol
Tennessee Flyer was actually my favorite mountain coaster out of the 4 I rode last week lol
Was it still rough? I haven't been on it in several years.
@CanobieCoaster oh yeah it's rough as hell lol, it felt like it was gonna derail at some points 💀 but at least the layout is super fun
13:56 The change of tone in your voice made me giggle for some reason
Had to emphasize the doom.
Your voice is relaxing 😌
Thanks!
I nominate Alpengeist when you ride its bad train. It's a good ride when you get the two good trains, but regardless of what Busch Gardens does with it, that third train has a horrific rattle. This is why people say it's rough.
I really like that ride myself.
its kind of the same thing but, you should do manufactures most boring coasters
Possibly in the future.
I haven’t ridden many coasters, but I can say with 100% confidence that Wildcat at HersheyPark was the worst GCI. I rode it twice and my gut felt like it was pummeled by a martial artist. That’s how rough it was.
You guys are made of paper and glass. It wasn’t bad at all
@@Nick_J_ Either you rode it after a refurbishment, or you have tougher guts than I do. Because it wasn’t pleasant when I rode it in 2019.
It's a shame since the layout was actually good.
The fact that every RMCs are still good rides just shows how RMC focuses on quality and substance.
I agree.
- I was surprised that I didn't see a looping coaster when Arrow came up. Never rode an Arror so I can't comment on that really.
- I kinda love Underground just because of the unique choice to use a wood coaster as a dark ride. Never rode it, thogh.
- My worst coaster from Gerstlauer is Mammut I think. This wooden coaster.... exists. Nothing exciting on it.
- Switchback I think needs some empathy. GG sure didn't have a lot of choice with the available space. It's stunning to look at offride.
- Mack Wild mouse coasters are awesome. This is why I honestly choose blue fire as their worst. I don't get much forces on it, no airtime. Only the last roll is great.
- Maurer's worst for a lot would be Freischütz, but I choose Sky Dragster because of it's awful capacity and short ride.
- I hate Pinfari. Even though their "newer" coaster run with the Interpark name now, the Wild WInd is the most painful ride I've been on.
- Reverchon is easy for me: Drifting coaster. Never got hurt so bad on a coaster before that I had big blue marks on my hips before.
- SBF: The standard spinnig coasters from them were hurtful to my legs. I think the new SBF family launched coaster at Skylinepark could be my new worst SBF.
- Can't decide on Schwarzkopf. All I've been on were perfect.
- I'm very based when it comes to Zierer (in a good way), so no comment :P
Steamin' Demon almost took the spot from Canyon Blaster. That one is rough, but I do like the drop and loop.
@@CanobieCoaster That's fair. The loops are superb.
I can't help but feel that Underground was the wrong Adventureland coaster to put on the list when Dragon was absolutely horrid in the roughness department.
I actually liked Dragon. That prelift was oddly shaky, but it didn't hurt me.
Pinfari RC-48 as WORST????!!!!!! I think you mean the RC-70, as in TORNADO AT M&D's!!
I didn't ride that one, which is why it isn't on the list.
Hades 360 is the worst jackhammering I have experienced. Dunno who made it though.
That ride is brutally rough, but the layout is strong enough that it'll tolerate it and take an advil after.
I rode blue tornado a couple years back, and i personally didn't think it was that bad. I would say goudurix is the worst vekoma
I genuinely like Goudurix.
10:41 I would personally say that Tidal Twister was worse. I didn’t find Harley Quinn that rough, it was just way too loud and is a dumb idea for a ride. Bad idea, bad execution. But at least it had a sense of speed because of its verticality. Tidal Twister did not have that, and instead just slowly went through its elements while giving head banging. It was such a stupid ride and was long overdue for removal.
Tidal Twister was a stupid ride, but I weirdly liked it for the hangtime and I didn't find it uncomfortable.
Nice video.
Thanks!
5:45 honestly have to disagree. The Goofy coaster at California Adventure was shockingly worse than this. At least I could personally enjoy coast rider.
Did the manufacturers even make that ride? But both are very rough
Goofy can be bad if it brakes harshly for blocking purposes, but Coast Rider is far more uncomfortable to me.
I can live white blue tornad being the worst of the SLC. I do like them if they are properly maintained but that one is just painfull. fortunatly to say i haven't done most of the others sincde i'm not from the states and havn't done azia yet. I do not see interparks Cobra in geiselwind i think that should have a honorable spot since its probable the worst i have ever done.
I haven't ridden Cobra yet.
As a kid, the shin guards on coast rider dont bother us at all
I can see how kids may not have an issue with them. They're awful for adults.
Someone's apparently never been on a Zamperla flying coaster 😂
Even though it's probably gonna cause severe brain damage if you don't hold on with your dear life, i still find them quite funny to ride every now and then
I actually like Volares.
@@CanobieCoasterI don't know if the park i've been to runs it differently than others, but it's usually a very painful experience. Especially on the last brake run, i always end up banging my head because of how quickly it stops
You can't mention the RMC Raptors without mentioning the God awful restraints.
They're not amazing, but I don't find them painful.
CASTLES N COASTERS MENTIONED!
Patriot still slaps tho.
Hopkins doesn't have any really bad coasters.
Never been on a SBF Visa coaster I did like.
That's unfortunate.
I found X2 to be the worst Arrow I’ve ever ridden. It’s extremely rough and unenjoyable
Many consider it one of the best because of its insanity. I think I definitely would take it as one of the best even if it's rough. But some are more tolerable to roughness than others.
That doesn't mean you can't enjoy the layout I personally think its the second roughest coaster I've ever ridden after hades 360 and even I can look past it because the ride is just that good
@@HugeRMCFanBoY-bx3od I couldn’t enjoy it since the roughness was so extreme.
That ride is rough, but I've found ways to tolerate it to experience those amazing elements.
I guess Great Escape has 2 of Arrow Dynamics worst coasters, Steamin Demon is horrible.
Both are bad.
B&M coasters dont age well..Inverts for example,Afterburn at carowinds is unrideable, the ride shakes the living crap out of you,Alpengiest is until the mid-course than it starts shaking and rattling your brain ..Dominator at KD is really rough,Rougaru is terrible..I hope fury 325 doesnt follow the trend in 10 yrs
I find most B&M coasters smooth. Afterburn, Alpengeist, and Dominator are smooth for me.
Imagine if MCC was in this video
Who or what?
@@CanobieCoaster MCC is a Chinese company that also produces roller coasters, they are known for the poor quality in their coasters, and also because they are very painful
W video as always
Thanks!
you should add clickable timecodes to the video.
I do that for offride videos. I typically don't for ranking videos.
I'm stunned there is no Zamperla Volare in here
Well technically a Volare is North Korea’s best coaster
I don't hate Volares. I have a whole review explaining why.
Stunt Pilot > Wonder Woman
I disagree.
Hi buddy generally a great video but come on a non spinning wild mouse looks like El Toro compared to a volare. You say you enjoy but it’s just not believable
Non spinning mice genuinely hurt.
@@CanobieCoaster I’ve had concussions that are more enjoyable than a Volare
Do you like cabbage
Its literally just bad lettuce
Not really
bot
Huh?
Why’d you heart my post if you don’t even know what I mean yet
blue torbnado is pathetic or worse
It's atrocious.
See in RCDB, but Harley Quinn Crazy Coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, which was short lived, looked like a disorienting thrilling ride.
It was very rough though.
