Now if Six Flags does the rest of the coaster with Titan track, it would be a great coaster again.

Skyrush restraints seriously suck. No, they do not hurt every single time.
My first painful experience started fine. I didn't think anything was wrong at the station. By the time we got to the top of drop hill I knew this was going to be painful. This was at night, so I didn't know when the next turn was coming. Every motion simply increased the pain and reduced my blood flow. When the ride ended I stumbled off the ride because my entire right leg was completely numb.
I am not exaggerating. The ride staff did not blink either, so I believe this is way more common than it should ever be.

In 1988, at a mere 4 years old, I rode Shockwave at (Six Flags Over Texas) for the first time (back in the 80s the height restrictions were rarely, if ever, adhered to. Additionally, my mom was made to pay an adult ticket for me, which she later argued had made me eligible to ride). It was my first coaster and the one that made me fall in love! A short two years later (1990) I rode the Texas Giant. Nearly died. I was so small -in age and size- that the lap bar didn't even touch my legs. After the first drop while ascending the second hill, I went airborne, literally. Had my mom not quickly reacted and jerked me down, Lord knows what might have happened. Turns out, the rest of the ride was more likely to kill me from a neck-breaking whiplash than my superman trick...talk about painful. I've not rode it since it was re-done.

I laughed when I saw Steel Eel in the intro! I just rode that a couple days ago and agree with what you said about it -- even though I find the rough valleying to be a bit more bothersome than you seem to. And it seemed to happen after every hill when I rode it! Each time I rode it, though, I rode towards the back, so that very well may have been an influence towards my experience.
The coaster DOES have good airtime, though! That first drop, especially, is surprisingly good!!

    My most painful moments:
-marathoning Millennium Force in heavy rain at night. Looked amazing going up the lift hill against the lights of the ride and then it felt like being stung by 1000 bees the rest of the ride. Still did it four times though.
-riding Steel Vengeance behind a lady with really long hair and getting whipped in the face the entire ride
-on the Beast when we entered the last tunnel for the first time and that turn comes, my friend’s head smashed into my shoulder. I now brace myself every time we start tearing down that hill.

Well, some things you do to yourself! You can't go that fast in the rain and not have it hurt! I did one ride like that on Magnum and could barely open my eyes. My most memorable was waiting for first car on Millennium and getting on around sunset when all the Lake Erie bugs start swarming. It wasn't painful...suspiciously so....until we exited the ride and I had to pick numerous pieces of bug guts off my partners face. We went this last weekend and I was SO ok with wearing a mask!
The first time I rode the beast, I was young and probably around 4 foot. I was trying to be brave and hold my hands up when we hit the helixes and I smashed my cheek right into the side of the train and got some light whiplash and a good headache before declaring it THE BEST!

I have chronic migraines, so being able to ride the roller coasters with head banging and STILL have fun is a blessing. Those head banging add little to nothing since I already have my head aching prior, so I learned to simply enjoy the rides even if my head is about to explode. For Gravity Group, it is by long and far Hades 360, but i bet your ride in it made that fact known. It is quite imfamous for how rough that ride is. Light trains, long high speed sections, and terrible matinence make it the perfect storm. In fact it gets so bad in the tunnel I have a theory they keep it rough in there to earn it's name, makes that tunnel feel like the god itself is shaking the train as you run through that pitch black, deafeningly loud tunnel

Just rode The Scream machine at SFOG for the first time in eighteen years last weekend. It is borderline unrideable in the back right now. I literally have bruises from it. Took three rides on it (front, back, middle). I remember crying in line for it when I first rode it as a four year old in 1982, because it was massive and I was scared. I remember crying in line for it at 42 years old last weekend for my third ride through because I knew it was going to hurt me more, lol. I hope by all that is good they retrack that thing completely for it's 50-year in 2023.
P.S. Honorable mention to Blue Hawk in it's former life as Ninja before they put the new trains on it several years ago. It USED to be the roughest ride in the park and that is saying something considering it was next door to the Scream Machine. Now it is an absolute joy to ride over and over.

I agree that the restraints on Gatekeeper can make it hard to breathe, especially when trying to take a deep breath. Magnum's lap bars were painful on the thighs when going over the bunny hops, though I didn't notice that so much last year when they put extra padding on the bars. The pretzel turn, however, shook my head so much I got a headache. And when I rode the Vortex at Kings Island, going down the first drop my head got slammed into the restraint so hard I had an intermittent headache for the rest of the day, so I don't even remember much else about my visit (other than a vague recollection of riding Son of Beast when it still had the loop). Not surprisingly, I wasn't sad to see Vortex go.

If we’re gonna talk about Premier Rides I wanna mention the gutpunching cramped rides that were Flight of Fear and Backlot Stunt Coaster. Flight of Fear hurt me the most because I couldn’t brace myself at all for what was coming, I had to trust that the Premier Rides Gods would give me a good ride. But oh man, when I say I felt that pain walking over to Orion, I felt that pain. That was a one and done for me. As for Backlot Stunt Coaster, the only pain I really felt was on the first turn up the spiral, but I can brace for it. I rode it twice and my only real problem with it was that I don’t like how cramped those cars are, or the weird lapbar with foot slot restraint.

    B&M: Vortex (Carowinds)
    CCI: Hoosier Hurricane (Indiana Beach)
Arrow: Corkscrew (Cedar Point)- Yeah it's small but it is quite painful.
    Togo: Manhattan Express
Vekoma: T3 (WORST COASTER)- try sitting on the break run for 10 minutes. It was HORRIBLE!!!!
    Gerstlauer: Mystery Mine
Coast Rider was a great choice.
Intamin: Green Lantern (Close second for Worst coaster)

I’d say American Eagle is the perfect amount of roughness. The 3 roughest I’ve ever ridden were all at Cedar Point: Mean Streak (duh), Magnum (major thigh bruising), and Maverick (idk why but I got stapled in so hard that I was in pain for what should’ve been a good ride. It was sad and I think I need to go back and reride).

It may just be me because I have a knee that doesn't like to bend too much, but in general the most painful coasters for me are the ones without enough legroom in them. That said, some of the roughest rides I've been on:
    - Matterhorn Bobsleds (Disneyland, Arrow): Better than it used to be since it got retracked not too long ago, but it'll still rough you up pretty good.
    - Klondike Gold Rusher (Wild Waves, Zamperla): When I looked this one up I thought it was 20 years older than it actually is.
    - Cannibal (Lagoon, one-off built in house): Mostly fine, but the Lagoon Roll element caused my knee to cramp up really badly for some reason.
I also rode Manhattan Express a long time ago, but probably suppressed that memory.

I actually don't find Magnum or American Eagle to be that bad, especially the more I ride them. X-Flight restraints totally kill the ride - I like the layout better than Gatekeeper but the vest tightening on X-Flight puts it well below Gatekeeper for me.

I remember the most painful woodie for me personally, one which left me in serious pain for quite a while afterwards. I was dating a new girlfriend who lived much closer to Six Flag Great America than I did. On one of our very first dates, we ended up back at her house late, after her mom had gone to bed. We started fooling around on the living room couch when we heard footsteps on the stairs and quickly shifted to “Hmm just sitting here focused on watching TV. Oh hi Mom.” position. It was a school night for her and I had to leave (we went to different schools.)
That’s the story of my most painful woodie ever. And the sad thing is we never even went to any roller coaster parks. 😫🤕😉

  • @connorbrechbill6516
    @connorbrechbill6516 ปีที่แล้ว

If the coasters are giving you headaches, it’s probably due to heat exhaustion/dehydration and diet more so than the rides themselves. Especially if you experience these headaches during the summer.
An example for me is this past year when I went to my home park, SFOG. I went once during 4th of July week and once during fright fest.
During 4th of July week, Atlanta was seeing record temps and in addition to this, I was not eating clean at all. I left with the most massive headache, and I only lasted for a handful of hours at the park.
In contrast, when I went to Frightfest, the temperatures were much cooler, and I had been eating relatively clean and was drinking a lot of water daily. When I left the park I still had plenty of energy and I stayed from about noon to night.
I don’t know what your diet is or how much you’re staying hydrated, but during the summers, I tend to break my days up. If I’m at let’s say, Carowinds, I’ll hit up rides in the morning, maybe hit up the water park for a couple of hours around noon and then head back to the hotel to get some rest and get a good meal in. Once that’s done, I return to the park (I have a platinum pass) around evening when the temperature has gone down a bit and enjoy the rest of the night riding rides. If I am feeling a headache, I’ll pop a couple of ibuprofen pills after I eat and that usually does the trick.

I was at Six Flags St. Louis for a special event when The Boss opened. As we were walking off our first ride on Boss for the day a voice in the crowd said "They should tear down this piece of crap. This space would be a great location for a coaster."
The Boss was crap on Day One and it has only gotten worse with time.
Also, Outlaw Run was great before the accident on The New Texas Giant. I did Outlaw Run maybe a week before and then two weeks after the incident. They changed the first locking position of the lap bar so it was lower than what it was before the New Texas Giant accident. When Fred Grubb; the boss of RMC, personally staples you into your seat and crushes your balls..... you know things have gotten serious.

I still make Thigh Crush my #1 priority at Hershey. My legs get a bit wobbly after the ride, but I personally think it's worth it, lol.
Roughest ride experience for me was a Pinfari Zyklon ZL42 coaster, the Python at Playland's Castaway Cove. Looks basic when you're off the ride, but the loops were so tight that I felt like my ears would bleed from banging my head on the shoulder restraints so much. And the worst part is, while it's no longer at Playland, it was just moved to a different park. Should've demolished that thing; it's going to be a rough ride for anyone who wants that credit. :(
