Jordan Peterson: The FULL Interview

  • This is my FULL interview with controversial psychologist Jordan Peterson.
Protesters tried to shout him down, but they failed. Now millions buy his books about finding meaning in responsibility.

Why do people -- especially young people -- eagerly buy books about responsibility?
"There's just an absolute starvation for the other side of the story," Peterson says. "There are no rights, technically speaking, without responsibilities. And all we've had for 60 years is a dialogue about rights. Well, that leaves a hole ... in people's hearts," he says.
More of Peterson's philosophy -- and some tough questions from me -- in the video above.

When I was a kid, my dad would get us a candy bar to split. When my mom got a candy bar, she had a rule that whoever broke the candy bar in half, the other kid got to pick their side. There is difference, on average, with the way mothers and fathers teach their kids. With the rise of single mothers, micromanagement and collectivism dominate childhood, so people are looking for the self-reliance and independence point of view they would have gotten from a two parent household. This is the actual reason Peterson is popular with men, not because TH-cam is mostly men. This is also the reason SJWs are mostly women, genetics.

Overall he is a positive influence, but he is wrong about somethings and afraid of others. He clearly demonstrated that he does not really know what compassion is in this interview for example. Someone asked him about the influence of Jews and the Israeli lobby and he freaked out and ran away from the question. He said someone who shoots up a school is weak, and that is too easy an answer. It is an answer designed to please, and to make a more complex issue overly simplistic. It reminds me of when leftards say "rape isn't about sex, it's about power." A horse$hit easy answer, designed to please low IQ people so they can say "Ah! That's why."

Let's just make sure we're not so opened minded that our brains fall out. That seems to be a common occurrence here in America anymore. Hey if it Feels good, do it. I have to admit Jordan Peterson hits the nail on the head as far as I can tell, but it's like this interviewer is exposing to everyone watching he (the interviewer) is "open minded".
Being open minded by terms of Liberalism is anything goes and accept everything as long as it gratifies sexual urges, greed, lust, anger, rage, and violent vengeance towards anyone who disagrees with the Liberal party, or just repeat themselves over and over again over another's voice like a crazy person or just raise one's voice over another, or just make claims of bigotry, sexism and racism. They seem to think by making these claims towards someone who disagrees with them is an automatic victory after the accusation is made, but rather to someone who's brain hasn't fallen from their skulls from being "open minded" we can see the psychosis of the person behaving like a young teenager or again.... a crazy person.
I've come to notice teenagers and crazy people seem to follow the same pattern which is interesting to say the least. To me a crazy person is one who is immature and never grows up, or of course has a mental problem. Of course I could go on all day about puberty, hormones and life changes in the body and mind during that process but it seems some never leave that stage of development and are cursed to be psychotic and narcissistic. And yes I am saying that teenagers fit that bill. We all go through that stage in life, however some just remain in that stage stagnant and lost in a stage of life that's not meant to remain.

Everyone always asks you what you want to do or what you want to be not realizing that it's a pointless and confusing question to ask a child, be they in elementary or high school.
Kids are already searching for so much of themselves, how are they supposed to give a decently true answer to those questions? They don't know enough about the world or themselves yet!

The wars we aged are on the Conservative/Right side of the USA house, they have always been the pro-military side. Dr. P NEVER talks about the bad of that, the effect war has on Men. In fact he praises the MIC's Phycology tests as he references them in his lectures positively. I always wanted to ask Dr. P, How do you go to War with a tactic (War on Terror) and do you think the pendulum should swing over to a society where men join the military for "purpose" and "shared sacrifice" and my FAV I would here in the military alot "They died fighting for the person next to them". @@j.jasonwentworth723 I'm trying to understand how to formulate what you guys are saying myself. I suspect JP is in the process of articulating what we all know in our hearts as true. The trouble is that truth hurts and we all look to different ideologies to see if we can change the reality for the better. I see that as a good thing overall because it's a worthy goal to make life better. It's extremely difficult though and in the short term a lot of those ideas that seem good have terrible consequences over time. What I think Jordan is doing is bringing the conversation to a more respectable level. To the people who are trying to rationalize ill conceived solutions Peterson is a huge threat. Realistically if you've spent your lifetime trying to eliminate what you see as inequality in the pay gap for instance you're not going to like expanding your empathy to those you think are the enemy. I have no doubt sexism plays a role but as Peterson suggests there's a line the left crosses that goes too far. He's drawn it at "equality of outcome" and makes a very good case for why that is. I think the bigger problem might be that "equality of opportunity" can get very close to looking like it's pushing towards the equality of outcome ideal. As soon as we start thinking in terms of groups it then corrupts to the core.
I don't know how to escape the rot other than to follow the idea of thinking in terms of individual sovereignty and value the careful discipline of speaking the truth to the best of my ability.

      Exactly! It's quite shocking.
I have heard Jordan say something like this before (and I am slightly paraphrasing) but "There is nothing more dangerous than a person who puts their life together." Hence the "clean your room." And when you start to put your life together (see his talk with Curator of the Toronto Art Museum on the "Psychology of Creativity.") you begin to see why beauty is shocking, because it illuminates all the things that are ugly in ourselves and highlights our own insecurities. And sometimes that insecurity is a reminder of something we need to work on. For me, after listening to his talks, I knew I needed to get sober. Almost 2 years sober now. Take care, Dan!

I started listening to his book, "Maps of Meaning" narrated by him and IMHO he has been in training for this time in history for most of his life.
As a very young man he was fascinated with Socialism, but early on recognized how performative the "compassion" was. Instead of jumping on any band wagons for a right way to think he seemed to have challenged himself with learning how to use his mind to actually study and think things through.
I can attest that in my time in Academia just 4 years ago at age 56, 80% of the instruction is geared toward Social Justice and "What" to think rather than how to engage the mind with the material.
I recieved a disciplinary action for class disruption by sending a private email to the instructor questioning her personal bias in lectures..... in an Argumentation and Debate course.
As I found myself immersed in so much crazy I countered the gas lighting primarily with Professor Peterson and James Lindsay. Those who were specifically able to think through and speak about how we got here and where here is.
