My MS170 is my go to saw too. Heck was using it today on my property, but my favorite is my vintage craftsman 14" electric chainsaw. That saw has cut literally 10's of thousands of board feet of timber. No carb, plugs or fuel to mess with and I can cut in my shop and weighs nothing. Not portable though. Also have a late 70's early 80's sears craftsman 18" gas saw. I've fallen 30"+ trees with it and my 170. I've been eying those battery saws too. Pretty much the same concept as the electric saw, but more portable.
I did a review on the DeWalt saw. I recommend them. If you already have a battery choice in your garage by brand check that brands saw out to have batteries on hand. If you don’t already have a brand I can highly recommend the DeWalt. It has continued to impress me. I even got the pole saw shortly after.
I just bought a 661cm last Wednesday, and an 044 last month. I like to use either my 200t (14")or 201tcm (16") for limbing and small bucking because they are much lighter. I'd recommed a 261cm as a great all around saw.
I got a 661 and a 391. The 391 I'm going to sell, and invest in either a 462 or 500i. I also have an 028, but I don't use it very often. It's more of a sentimental thing, as it was my grandpa's saw. Edit: I'm also going to get an 880 or 881.
I’m thinking of taking my 661 down to a 28” bar. It’s just a little too big at 36” for a lot of what I’m doing and then I’ll have the 36” hanging around if needed. That 880 is a beast. Got to man handle that thing.
I have been thinking about this lately. Been watching the Tractor Supply County Like 20 ton model. If it was to go on sale just a little cheaper... But of course it depends on your usage and how much power you will want. They make a 40 ton that should split anything but I’m pretty sure the 20 ton would work for the duty I would need it for. www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/countyline-25-ton-log-splitter-126151799--1

Thanks buddy. Now I’m going to go spend money
At least you’ll know which saw you need. 😁

What is your recommendation for a log splitter?

What do you think about stihl 291 ? Good model ?
I think it’s a good saw but I do wish it had some oiler adjustment. But I haven’t had any problems with it. Good power to weight compromise.
I bought Ms 291 with 20 inch bar two day and have ms180 full size 16 guide bar 😏
Right on
