The most important thing about this Renault it comes from the 1990s the absolute best decade for motor vehicles and this Renault was very well put together and l do myself own a 1997 Toyota Hilux Australian version and all l can say it's also very good because commercial vehicle its ride is very rough and it is GVM is 2700 kgs and the Hilux ute is only 1200 kgs and there is nothing wrong with 90 hp in a small coupe after my Hilux has about 97 hp and the engine is 2.4 litres with a carburator and a distributor and no cat converter
When I was quite a young boy, cars parked on our street were few and far between. However my friend from the top of the street often parked their peculiar looking and sounding rear-engined yellow car outside their house. One day I even had a little ride in it to somewhere. They referred to it as a cgh-wren-oh which I thought was probably one of those adult words that children weren't really supposed to know. Fast forward many years and somewhere on the internet I see an ugly yellow car that sparked a memory from the depths. It turned out to be a Cgh-wren-oh Dauphine. Well butter my bottom I thought, that car wasn't a dream! Today's video, featuring a yellow Cgh-wren-oh has brought it all back! Now I need more therapy!😄
It’s taken me a few attempts to get to the end of this video, the people who give me money have expected me to do stuff in return, but I made it now and I’m honoured to have had a mention. I have a French friend who lives in France, in the Cognac region which is very lovely. A couple of years ago I picked him and his wife up from the airport in my BMW, which was an M Sport version which meant hard suspension, big wheels and thin side walled tyres but thankfully no run flats as they had worn out and been replaced with normal tyres. Dunlop Sportmaxx if you’re interested, they were pretty good. Anyway my French friend remarked upon the appalling state of the British roads which is perfectly understandable to anyone who has headed from Manchester Airport towards the M6 along the laughably bad M56. He then remarked upon the choice of wheel on my car with some incredulity. ‘Mon dieu, why do you British have these big wheels and hard suspension when your roads look like they’ve been abandoned?’ he asked me, or words to that effect. He has a Renault, I don’t know which one. It’s a newish SUV one which my friend doesn’t have much to say about and I don’t care enough to remember or to try and find its name. It’s pleasant enough but in no way remarkable apart from the use of some weird yellowy metal trims. I know a man called Neil who had one of these Megane Coupes 20 or so years ago, a red one. He never said anything about it so it feels like for Renault it’s plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose.
Many memories flooding back of my mothers 1.6 RT Sport from 1998 on an R plate. She's never owned a car as long as she owned that car (8 years) we loved it.
The 1.6 went well, I’d love to try the 2.0! Great to drive and cheap at the time. Modern hard suspension and seats is a ploy to keep people out of their cars. Under the pretence of sportiness.
I had the 2.0 IDE model of this car. It was a lovely metallic silver, almost pearlescent in the right light. Lovely car to drive, but had a habit of "tram lining" on motorways where there were grooves from the lorries.
Good cars those meganes! I had a 1.6 5 door and that was fun to drive!

I remember these being very popular in the 90s and seen as being modern.
Then you realize it’s a very clever reskin of the 19.
I went that colour once, I had jaundice

I always thought of this as the Mégane Coupé but the 5-door model was badged as Coupé in Finland🤔
Had a Y reg in the silvery blue with full leather, the 1.6 also. Was a great car until someone rear ended it and wrote it off!
Mustard in a Mustard Yellow Renault in the snow.
