40 + 4. I really want a completely unmedicated birth, but my doctor scheduled a Pitocin induction for me a week from today because they can't let me go past 41w6d. Is that true of hospital births?
@@amandamcelfresh7417 Thank you so much and you too! I'm hoping to have a natural unmedicated birth too but will be induced next week if baby doesn't show up. 😭 hoping this little one hurries up! ❤
I just want to leave some encouragement; you can still have that natural birth despite being induced. I was 41 +2 and decided to get induced. One because my only favorite midwife would be on shift the day I got induced. Two because I didn't want to push it to far into 42 weeks. Prior to getting induced I did all the things Bridget suggests to naturally induce labor(walking l,nipple stimulation sex etc). I was 4 to 5 cm and 70 %effaced the morning of induction. I got started on Pitocin at 625am upping the dosage by two every 30 min got up to 11. My midwife saw that I was 6 cm at 930 and told the nurse to stop pit at 9 because my body would naturally create oxytocin now as well. Although my baby was head down I felt the contractions on my back and my midwife said baby must be looking up so she did not break my water so baby wouldn't be stuck in weird position. I kept mobile the entire time rocking on the birth ball. In order to change baby's position I was standing directly over the bed rocking. The contractions were very intense and deep breaths plus my husband putting pressure on my back helped tremendously. At 1046am I delivered a healthy baby. I pushed about three times she came out along with a gush of water and everything else. The best advice I can give is to keep your mind focused on your goal and zone everyone out. At time of delivery there were about 3 nurses plus my midwife in the room and I just closed my eyes and listened to my midwife. An induction wasn't in my plans but God worked it out for me. May your birth experience be a positive one as well.
Thank you for sharing. My baby is sunny side up right now and they want to induce me in 5 days. I feel encouraged by reading your story but praying he can do this on his own before then 🙏
In fact induced births have a slightly lower risk of C-Sections than natural labour. So if a natural birth is something you really want then you should ask your OB/GYN whether induction is something you should consider.
For the woman who feel bad about being induced. DON’T! this is my 3rd baby and I’m getting induced at 39 weeks. My first two were spontaneous births but I chose induction for this one because I cannot take being pregnant anymore. Do not feel shame. Your baby will be in your arms and loved and well taken care of and that’s all that matters.
Have you get any complications with your baby so far? I am so sacred I’m 39 weeks and tomorrow I’ll get induce, but I read about the me dicen used cause harm in the future for the baby!! Thank you for sharing your experience as well!
@@Isaby94otz no no complications with the baby. He’s thriving and gaining weight and doing very very well. He was a good weight when I was induced and I never had any history of having problems with my babies. I can say that my labor was harder for me than with my other 2 (spontaneous deliveries) and I feel like because of that strain it’s making my recovery harder. I had a lot of blood clotting after too and they had to manually take the blood clots out of my body after delivery. I’m 6 weeks postpartum and still feeling quite a bit of pain and having extreme pain when sitting for a long period of time. Idk if that has anything to do with it but I didn’t have that problem with my other 2….. As far as my son goes he’s doing great and don’t see any differences in him than with my other 2 boys.
@@Isaby94otz I can say because of difficulty(pain) in labor for me I wouldn’t do it again unless I was over due or had medical necessity but that’s just out of personal preference from the experience. I know many women who had great induction labor experiences and beautiful healthy babies.
To those who came to watch this because they’re getting an elected induction, don’t feel bad for not waiting. I’m getting an elected induction at 39 weeks and 2 days on Friday and I’m so excited. I was so disappointed when she pushed the waiting until they’re “ready.” If baby is healthy, you get the okay from your OB/GYN, and it’s what you strongly feel like you want to do...go for it. Don’t listen to the opinions of others. ❤️. Edit 4/8/20: I had my 39 wk elected induction. Started meds to get everything going on the night of 4/2/20. After only 8 hours of labor and 45 min of pushing, he was born at 1:51pm 4/3/2020. Perfectly healthy, 8lbs 6oz. :)
Thank u so much, I was starting to feel bad that I actually asked to be induced n it wasn’t because of medical reasons 🙈. Edit: had my baby yesterday, turns out it was a good thing I decided to do an elective induction as my cervix was too narrow so baby couldn’t drop so who knows what would’ve happened if naturally went into labor.
Part of my birth plan is to have my OB I’ve seen this entire time deliver my baby. I wouldn’t be comfortable with any other OB at the hospital I have to go to, I’ve met them all and didn’t like them nearly as much. I’m getting induced Tuesday as she goes out of town on Thursday. And I am also in so much pain being this big. I agree!! If your OB clears you and you’re comfortable- go for it!!!
I love this comment I'm getting an elective induction but also to easy my fears with group b strep and make sure I can get my antibiotics before my baby comes since my first labor was pretty quick (7-8 hours) my doc just totally agreed with me and mentioned she usually offers them to her patients who have had a vaginally delivery before. I'll be 39 weeks. I'm so excited 💕
Don't feel bad if you're getting induced for a reason that is not medically necessary. There's some good research that shows getting induced at 39 weeks is actually a good thing because the placenta starts to die/reduce function @ 40 weeks. and also just because its completely YOUR CHOICE.
Completely agree! Also, what if the baby becomes to large after the 40th week... Delivery will be more complicated and even could end up in an emergency Csection
This is why my ob is recommending that we can be induced at 39 weeks! I am looking forward to knowing when it will happen and have a schedule for my other kids too! I think if we go in with a positive open mind it will be a wonderful birth either way! No matter what happens our baby’s will be here with us and that’s the greatest outcome of it all!!
I was induced at 39 weeks 4 days because of preeclampsia. They started me with the pill that softens the cervix, then the foley bulb, and eventually Pitocin. I was still able to go Med and epidural free with these tips and your meditations 🙏🏼✨
Thank you for this comment!! I am now at 38 weeks and my doctor wants to book me in this Friday to get induced. They are worried I might have preeclampsia because of the level of protein in my urine… however I have no other symptoms such as high blood pressure and etc… I am very skeptical of them wanting to give me induction as I feel very perfectly fine and capable to have a spontaneous labour on my own…
I was induced yesterday with artificial rupture of waters and pitocin drip. I felt so defeated as I had so wanted a spontaneous birth (having also to had been induced with my first child due to high blood pressure). Fortunately my midwife spent time listening to what my original wishes were and was on board with helping me get as close to as natural an experience as possible. From the beginning I kept lights low, used swaying and rhythmic use of a stress ball banging against the bed. When I was feeling overwhelmed my midwife would help distract me by changing my position (birth ball, laying on my side in bed) and used breathing techniques to help focus my energy. My midwife would let me know when she adjusted pitocin levels and when the contractions became too close together she lowered the dose which was enough for me to get a rest between contractions. I was able to achieve an unmedicated, epidural free birth with my second little girl in just over 4hrs.
This is encouraging! I'm getting induced on Monday 39+3. And my doctor normally starts with artificial rupture of water and pitocin. How ready was your cervix?
I go in tomorrow to be induced. I am 41.4 weeks and already at 4cm. I'm going to deny the rupture of my water though and see how I progress with the pitocin. I'm very excited!!
Tonight I go in for my elective induction offered by my doctor! My baby is HEALTHY and I do not feel ashamed whatsoever. My husband is fully supportive! I am so excited. This is my second baby, my first baby was 8 years ago and I was able to experience my water breaking, this baby is much more snug. I can’t wait to meet this angel! Even more exciting that we don’t know the sex! Big surprise!!!🎉
I just had an induction a 36 weeks for severe preeclampsia. Definitely not apart of the plan! But she's here and healthy. Born on the 4th of July weighing 4 pounds 7 ounces 👶❤
@@inpeaceharmonywithp8202 the weird thing is that I never had any symptoms. The only thing I had was dangerously high BP's up to 196/120. I had IV magnesium to prevent seizures and a stroke. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still on BP meds. I'm just so grateful I was able to make it to 36 weeks
Given this video was meant for mamas on track to be induced it was disappointing to hear the “wait til the baby’s ready” philosophy. I’m sure most of us are worried, but listening to our practitioner. We’re already feeling some level of guilt but trying to do what’s best.
Sometimes the baby is never ready and they can die. Happened to my mom, she was sent home 2 times by the time she came back I was not moving and she was half dead.. All because the nurse had said baby was not ready....
I’m in the same boat! I am getting induced at UCSD and their research shows that letting moms go past their due date doesn’t help mom or baby. In fact csection rate is higher and can be hard if unexpected. (not knocking csections, i was a csection baby!) i think it comes down to being knowledgable with pitocin and giving very low doses. My dr said its wrong when someone other than your dr (like nurses, MAs) administers it and to high a dose is given to speed things up. UCSD has the lowest csection rate in San Diego yet they prefer to induce at 39 weeks if possible. Dont feel bad about inductions mamas, just be informed!
This is a very late comment but I have to tell you that your video gave me so much peace and I was able to have a positive, pain med free induction and our baby girl (born in March) is doing great! She's my third kiddo and first induction and my least intense labor despite needing cervical ripeners, pitocin, and them breaking my waters.
I’m being induced at 39 + 2. I’m very happy with this due to severe pelvic and back pain throughout nearly my entire pregnancy. I am also looking forward to having the epidural after my waters are broken and just before the pitocin drip is commenced. This plan helps to decrease my anxiety. In saying all of this, I’m a registered nurse and am well aware things don’t always go to plan so I am making an effort to keep an open mind.
I had an induction 3 weeks ago. It was great! Honestly I didn't realize that I asked for an induction until after everything was over. Like the word "induced" was never said and it didn't cross my mind that that is what was happening. My water broke at 36 weeks, but contractions hadn't started so after 5 hours waiting in triage I got bored and asked to go ahead and get things started. I opted for a foley balloon and they went ahead and put me on pitocin. Labor started instantly after that and I labored for 10 hours. It was intense, but I did the whole thing without any painkillers and baby came after 10 minutes of pushing.
No one should feel pressured to be induced because of the Covid situation. Whether you get induced at 39 or wait for natural labor, the sick people will still be in another part of your hospital regardless. This is your birth experience. Don’t let anyone ruin it for you.
This is was so comforting, thank you Bridget. Waiting for my induction and trying to stay calm. Felt so disheartened when we had to change plans, wanted so much for a natural birth, but I understand it’s what’s best for baby. Your videos have helped to ensure I remain calm and in control. I am determined to still have a positive birth experience, my body was built to birth.
Im with you, being induced on Sunday morning. Still working towards and hoping for my baby and body to do it on its own. I'm not losing faith! Good luck to you
I had my 3rd via unexpected induction (pain med free!) 3 days ago and watched this as it was starting. Your videos really helped me prepare and get through it and have the empowering birth experience that I wanted to. Thanks SO much!!!
I’m getting induced tomorrow at 41 weeks + 4 days because my placenta is not as strong anymore and I don’t have so much amniotic fluid left. Due to the pandemic, my husband isn’t allowed with me during labour until I am about to start pushing and he can only stay with us for two hours. All I pray for is the moment they put my baby boy on my chest 💙👶🏻
Thank you so much for this video. You are so sweet. I am now 41 weeks, my plan was to have a natural spontaneous labor, but after trying many of the tricks to induce naturally, nothing has worked. I will likely have an induced labor because of this, so I am trying to be strong and accept what I have to do.
Getting induced tomorrow, 40 weeks + 3 days . Was hoping baby would come on his own but was diagnosed with macrosomia . This video definitely helped get some tips on how to handle the pain
39 weeks and 5 days today, getting induced tomorrow morning! I am 4 almost 5 cm dilated and am having symptoms of cholestasis so doctor suggested it at my appointment today. Thank you for this video!
Thank you for this Bridget! I’m 42 weeks in my first pregnancy and am having to be induced the day after tomorrow due to how overdue I am. So far from my plan for an unmedicated birth. I’m so nervous but I’m trying to mentally prepare. Thank you for all that you do!
I'm in the same boat. They said I'm 41 weeks 4 days now, But I keep refusing to be induced. I really wanted an unmedicated birth. And I feel like my due date is off.. How did the induction go?
I've had start and stop contractions for the past week, and they went from not painful to absolutely painful and then back down. I had them all day long, and I was mentally and physically drained. My doctor suggested induction, and I was on board at 39 weeks. I was so grateful I just wanted to cry because this will be my last baby, and I felt like the ending of the pregnancy was completely ruined.
Scheduled for an induction tomorrow. Currently 41 weeks 1 day. At 37 weeks 1 day, I was dilated 3cm 100% effaced and cervix noted as super soft. At 38 weeks 2 days, same as 37 weeks 1 day. At 39 weeks 4 days, everything was the same except I was 4cm and baby was at zero station. Praying I can simply be put on the lowest pitocin possible to kickstart labor and then get off of it.
Got induced Saturday 8pm had my baby on 4/5/2021 at 5:14 a.m Healthy 7 pound 9ounce baby boy 💛Watch your video same day as induction love your tips and added more as a first time mom who’s intentions was to deliver completely natural I watch your video same day as my induction to prepare def helpful posting my story soon
In the UK you cannot choose to be induced unless it’s medically necessary or overdue by a week! Agree with her, it’s the best to wait for the baby to decide as to when to come, unless overdue or there are underlying medical issues! Thanks for the video !
Right?! I was shocked hearing that, as a Brit. People just give birth when they give birth unless a medical problem arises. It baffles me you'd want to induce so your baby is born before Christmas or whatever.
Yup. Im American and I choose an unmedicated, natural labor. My son was almost 2 weeks overdue and I went into spontaneous labor. He was breech which is why he was so overdue but he was fine and so was I. I understand interventions when it’s medically necessary but then those women get offended and shit on women who choose not to get an elective induction or not use labor pain meds. They think women who choose natural methods and who are able to trust and wait- think they’re better than them and so they project their insecurities into others. It’s really upsetting.
Anyone who is over 40 is encouraged to get induced at 39 weeks here in the US. With my first son, I was going to be induced at 41 if he wasn’t going to show up by 40+3 days. His due date was right before Christmas and if he didn’t come by Christmas I was going to be induced right after Christmas.
thank you so much for making this video! Im supposed to be induced tomorrow and I felt super apprehensive about it but thank you for going through everything it made me feel better!
Where was this video 3 years ago when I had my first??! So helpful. Everything that happened the first time was exactly what I didn’t want to happen. My water leaked for 26 hours, no contractions, so they started me on Pitocin at 3AM, increased the amount EVERY 15 MINUTES, and told me I had to stay in bed because of the drip and fetal monitoring. After 2 hours with no natural buildup, I felt like I got hit by a bulldozer and asked for an epidural, which I didn’t want. I write this not to scare others, but to stress: education is power. I’ve since found out I had a lot more say than I was led to believe. Thankfully labor progressed and in a few hours I had a healthy baby girl vaginally. Thank you for working to inform and empower mamas everywhere!
Thanks for the tips it reassure me not to worry to much my OB-GYN will induce me next 2days praying for a safe and easy labor for me and my baby ur tips helps a lot and of course God will make it everything perfect ☺️
I know everyone always says "our body is made for this" or "let the body do what it is supposed to" .. but in my case that would've killed me and my baby. Of course I would've preferred labour to start by it's own without inducing, but on the other hand I am super grateful there are medical resources nowadays to help save mums and their little ones. Despite my birth 3 weeks ago being negative and traumatic, I have made my peace with it. For me it helped to not have had a birth plan, it made it much easier to accept and move on after such a short time. Now there is only love left for our beautiful baby girl.
I was induced at 39weeks 3 days bc I was 4cm dilated when I went in for a regular Dr appointment. had no idea lol. they said I could have the baby that same day if I wanted so i said sure! they gave me pitocin n the epidural, easiest labor ~
I never make a birth plan. I'm getting induced with my 5th baby on Thursday. This will be my 3rd induction. I just know that I'm never in control and so submitting to God's will is easier for me than trying to make it MY perfect birth. My OB is amazing and she never takes for granted my situation and how I feel. She has always been my biggest advocate (next to my husband).
Have to get induced today because of my babys heart beat being irregular. I'm really scared/worried but im going to watch and hear all your videos during the process. Wish me luck.
@@yamiletmartinez9297 I just got my vitals checked and I'm seeing your comment. I figure I can come back and check on you. This is reassuring 🙏🏾🙏🏾 I am getting induced due to preeclampsia and I was very fearful. And I know all our bodies are different but again your comment just encouraged me. Any more updates? Sis any arrive?
@@keshnadonia I had cervidil as my form of induction. I had it in for 13 hours and it did nothing but give me contractions. I didn’t dilate at all. They’re waiting for contractions to calm down to give me another dose of it. Still no arrival & still only 1cm dilated. I hope your induction goes smoother than mine is.
mayra galicia it went good! 😊 I got my water broken at 3 cm and dilated quick after that, but had the worse contractions😭 I ended up getting the epidural at 6 cm, it was the best feeling ever! And pushing was the easiest for me🙏🏼 best feeling in the world once they’re in your arms🥰💘 Total labor was about 14 hours!
Had a forced induction that led to c section. Terrible experience overall. What bothers me is that they don’t state an issue as to why labor isn’t starting or why it’s delayed. Medical community always has something to throw at a problem but never a reason for the problem and a solution or prevention method
Yes! My induction reason is for an unfavorable cervix. She’s very low and has a high chance to come on her own, but I wanna know WHY my cervix is unfavorable.
I went in for an induction this week at 39 weeks with my third child. I needed 3x gels, ARM and the drip .When contractions finally started after 2 days of waiting and 2 false starts I was excited to get going. I listened to the birthing meditation audios, you made for each stage Bridget. I worked on my breathing throughout with the help of my birth partner. For the first time I had a positive, hassle free birth .I used no pain medicine and delivered a very healthy happy wee baby girl. Thank you for your advice and audio files. It was a great resource on the day and on the lead up.
I'm 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I'm getting induced in 7 hours. I'm a first time mama that didnt plan on getting induced or having an epidural. I was dilating on my own, from 0 to 1 to 3 cm. And then it stalled at about 4cm. My mom said she did the same and was induced and had the epidural. So my doctor and mom kind of pushed for the induction and I kind of wanted to wait. I was told by so many that I wouldn't be able to do it without an epidural, but I've always handled pain pretty well... thank you for this video, it helped me feel more prepared for tonight.
All went well. After being induced I started having contractions that I couldn't feel but showed on the monitor. When they broke my water, I started feeling the contractions. I didnt last very long before I asked for the epidural. That was a pain I'll never forget. I'm so glad everything happened the way it did though. I went from 5cm to 9cm in a hour or so. The nurse asked if I wanted to try and push and see the head. I did and she was right there. She ran for the doctor and everyone came in getting ready. About three rounds of pushing and Claire was here . I had a lovely experience and I'm so thankful.
Chewbacca Chewy thank you for updating! I was going to ask how it went 🙂 I’m with you on that pain though. It was definitely more bearable after the epidural! Congratulations on your new little one🧡
I’m getting induced just because I’m 39 weeks and I’m not dilating and I’m touching 200 lbs weighing 194 when I never in my life been over 145. She has to come out lol
How is not dilating at 39 weeks a reason for indiction? Cervix dilation is not an indicator or labor. Some dilate over weeks before labor some minutes of few hours before labor start...
I’m 212 rn never been this big before either 39 weeks n one day. N I haven’t dilated at all cervix not soft 100 percent. Idk if I should schedule n induction or just wait some more time I don’t wanna wait to long n end up getting a c section
I’m getting induced at 39 weeks and 2 days. My baby is huge and my body can’t physically or mentally handle it anymore. I’m nervous but excited to meet my baby boy finally💙
My baby was 8lbs 7 ounces at exactly 37 weeks on the ultrasound. I have gestational diabetes. I realize this number could be high but...with my first I was measuring large and they estimated around that weight at 38 weeks and some days. He was actually 9lb11ounces at birth (less than a week later) and I seriously believe this will happen again. Still won't induce me until week 39. I'm a little upset about it and I know they're going to try to push a c-section bc they're doing another ultrasound right before the induction...he's likely going to be more than the cutoff weight...they say my gestational diabetes is under control enough but it's still getting high and Im seriously not taking insulin for the last week of my pregnancy...they can just induce me, damnit...wth
I was induced with Pitocin after it had been over 24 hours since my water broke and labour slowed. It was very intense for me and I had to request they lower the level of pitocin at one point as I couldn’t get a break between contractions, yet my body wasn’t ready to push. They listened and after a few more hours of laboring I gave birth to my healthy baby boy (now 7 years old)! I was able to get through without an epidural (the only part of my birth plan that worked out) of course :) This was my only time giving birth so I can’t compare to a non-induced labor but I’m very curious how it would compare. Thanks for the great info! ❤
I'm in the hospital being induced a few hours now. Haven't planned this, but as I'm in my 41week and the amniotic liquid is low this is the procedure. I'm scared and don't know what to expect, but everything will be ok. Thanks for your videos ❤
I’m scheduled to be induced on the 10th of this month so I’m here for all the tips to make the process quicker and easier. I got induced in 2019 with my second baby and had a very long labor which resulted in me getting an epidural so I’m hoping and praying we can avoid that this time around. I want to go as natural as possible and experience the whole process. 💗🤞🏽
Hi! I am just wondering how your birth experience went. I am going to be induced I the 21st due to my baby having heart issues. I just want to learn about other women's experience. Tho, I know every birthbia different. Thanks!
Watching this during my cervidil period of induction at 38+4. The night before I had a mild but annoying headache and my partner noticed my face looked swollen; I took some readings with his cuff, called my midwife with the results and she suggested we start lab work to rule out preeclampsia. She said my labwork was "shockingly good" so with gestational hypertension they figured it was safer to get her out than not.
Getting induced tomorrow at 37+1wks due to chronic hypertension. Excited and nervous! Hope I will progress. At 36wks, i was 1.5cm, 60% effaced and soft.
Thank you so much for that video! I'm 35 weeks pregnant and my doctors just prepared me for an induced labor because i have gestational diabetes. I feel so empowered after watching your video! ❤ thanks for making such an impact on all of us mamas-to-be! Greets from Vienna
Two different female Obgyn's offered a social (elective) induction only to avoid a possible precipitous labour and birth. I told them no and they were surprised and shocked. I now told the third doctor that did the pregnancy follow up that I refuse an induction for non medical reasons until week 42. I hope they will not pressure me until then and that I do not go over 42 weeks. Afterwards I do not know what to do due to the small risk of stillbirth, but also due to not wanting to force baby out. It is not an easy decision to make.
You seem like the best Doula ever! I love your videos they help me so much! I am 40 weeks and 2 days and might need to get induced so this made me feel much better about it! Thank you
@@BridgetTeylerthank you! my daughter was born yesterday morning at 8: 40 and it was a natural birth and i went into labour the same day as i was to be induced so everything worked out perfect! Thanks again and keep up the excellent work!
My doctors are inducing me at 41 weeks and 1 day of being pregnant. I am not doing it out of tiredness at all. I believe my baby can take all the time she needs. But my doctors suggested it as the safest and best option because of risks. So I agreed to it only to keep her safe. I don't think that is a bad thing.
Why do you live sooo far awa???!!! I would have you as my doula in a heartbeat! I live in Salvador da Bahia where there a huge culture of delivering by C-section, both Doulas and obstetricians are poorly informed. No one spoke to me about breathing and this time around, I’m getting myself informed so that I can manage labour more efficiently and your videos have been extremely informative and inspiring. Thank you!!!!!
I'm 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant, just turned 40 a few days ago. All my bloodwork, genetic testing, etc came back super healthy for baby and I, everything in the uterus and placenta look great, and baby girl is measuring in the 60th percentile in size which is beautiful. But because of my gestational diabetes they want to induce me right at the end of 39 weeks... that's in just 4 days! Hoping I go into spontaneous labor before then but if not, I'm grateful for this video and my medical team (and great insurance coverage lol) to keep me informed as possible.
Brenda Thats the case for a lot of women - c sections I really don’t understand why some ppl are advocating Inductions. But I won’t judge them for their decisions
FTM here! I’m 30 weeks and 4 days. I’m being induced at 37+ 0 because I have ICP (cholestasis). I was really excited to experience the entire process naturally but this is how it’s got to be. I want to give birth vaginally and hope I’m able to avoid a c-section so I’m trying to learn as much as possible to see if I can help the process move towards as much of a natural birth as possible. My doctor says because it’s a mechanical way of getting the processes started that c - section is definitely most likely. 🤞 😩 Congratulations to all of you ladies!!
Lindsey!!! I’m praying you see this!!!! I’m 36+2 today and I’m a ftm and just found out last night they want to induce me at 37 weeks as well for ICP! Could you share with me how it was for you? I have been an emotional wreck 🥺😭🥺😭🥺😭🥺
I’m due tomorrow but I got my labor induction scheduled for Tuesday the 19th. I’m nervous and really wanted to labor at home. But I’m accepting the fact this is needed for my baby. I’m gonna be 40 weeks & 3 days this baby needs to come out lol
My husband and I are going to the hospital for an induction tomorrow evening. If I actually get notifications on this comment (I usually don’t get notified when I get replies), I’ll answer any questions or share my experience. I’m dreading it but I’m also super stoked to have this pregnancy be over with. My baby is already big lol 40 weeks
After my water broke I stayed at home, the contractions were moderate. As morning approached the intensity built up, like I couldn't walk when the strong waves came, it just stops you. Then we went to the hospital, they induced me and did some other formalities and my surges kind of stalled for like 30 mins. And then they increased my dose. In total it took 7-8 hrs for the delivery.
Omg! Good luck! I’m due this Wednesday and looking at natural ways to induce labor- the hospitals are changing there policies on labor and delivery by the way we want to have our baby before the hospitals overflow with covid patients too
@@monicaduconge293 i actually got a call Sunday afternoon asking if I wanted to come in at 5pm because they had space. I took the spot and so far they have been attentive and super friendly. I was nervous because I wasnt expecting to come in a day early but its been great. When seen by the nurse she told me I was actually contracting already. I'm praying that by monday afternoon my baby boy comes. Feeling the contractions stronger and cervix is dialated 👍 everything will go great with your delivery! Congrats on your pregnancy
I'm getting induced tomorrow morning because of the coronavirus. The hospital I'm laboring in is currently dealing with a wave of covid patients and my doctor understood the need to not wait until the hospital is overwhelmed. I've went late with both previous pregnancies and this is my 3rd. I'll be 41 weeks Friday. My second child wasn't born until after 42 weeks. I'm not risking waiting an entire week.
I wanted to wait until baby was “ready.” So we waited. 4 days over my due date. Baby was only getting bigger. If I didn’t have my induction, she would’ve been an emergency c section because after pushing for 2 hours, both my heart rate and baby’s heart rate fell. She got stuck and we needed a vacuum assist. She was born vaginally, no epidural, 8lbs and 8 oz. B baby girl! I’m glad I chose to be induced when I did. Besides that one scary moment, I loved my labor. I was able to move and labor and push the way I wanted to. I had my doula with me and she was fantastic. Now I am pregnant with mono-di twins, which means there are two babies sharing a single placenta. I will be induced at 37 weeks if they do no come before then. I really hope and pray that they will! But if not, I know an induction is the safest option for them.
I really appreciate the tips❤️ pregnant with my first child & I didn't necessarily plan to get induce. My due date is November 8th & they had to induce me a couple days early due to my baby having low atomic fluid 😢😓 so now I'm here at the hospital praying 🙏 & hoping all is well for both me & my baby
I am about to get induced this Wednesday which I don't want and feel very bad about it. I am 39 weeks pregnant and wanted to wait and see if I get into spontaneous labor but my husband doesn't wanna wait as my bp sometimes goes up. I am praying and hoping that my labor starts spontaneously before that. Please pray for me😢
Getting induced tonight! I’m 39 weeks 2 days and this is my first. I didn’t think I’d have to be induced but I had high blood pressure the pass two weeks. Excited but also a little nervous 😬
Thank you for the tips! I'm getting induced in 2 days and I'm feeling stressed about it, not only because I'm nervous about the whole situation but because I also suffer from panic and anxiety attacks and I know it can get on the way of me feeling comfortable or even being in a good state of mind at all. Any one go through a similar experience, if you did, do you have any tips on how to handle induction while having an anxiety disorder? Thank you!
I'm in the same boat. With my 1st 2 kids my water broke, and this time I'm being induced so I'm anxious about the unknown. I'm going in tomorrow morning and I don't think I will sleep tonight.
Im 38 weeks and 6 days and I’m getting induced tomorrow because of my severe edema. My super painful swollen legs and my numb ankles and feet. This is my 4th pregnancy. I am very uncomfortable and can barely walk. However i am a little bit sad that i won’t go into labor naturally, even though I have experienced natural labor before. My first son 16 years ago was a natural birth with no epidural at 41 weeks. My second was a 40 week exactly on my due date, 4 hour labor with epidural. My 3rd was scheduled to be induced and I went into labor a day before the scheduled day, I was in labor for 16 hours and eventually was given epidural because I was given some potossen and the contractions were so intense but I wasn’t dialating. As soon as I got the epidural I was able to relax and dialated within an hour to 100%. Now I hope that my 4th labor will go easy and smoothly.
I’m experiencing the same symptoms as you and may also need labor induced😮 can you please update here after procedure and or make a video? Wishing you a fast healthy labor and delivery and beautiful happy baby!🎉 You got this mommy!
Thanks for the video! I have a history of fast and early labors so my doctor will evaluate the condition of my cervix at 38.5 weeks to determine if he recommends inducing at 39 weeks so I don't have a mad rush to the hospital (30 minute drive)! If I even make it to that appointment! So I'm trying to get informed and mentally prepared for that potential discussion!
I am getting induced today and I’m scared because I didn’t with my other 2 but life is so different now that I feel like it’s better to be induced with my life style I’m am 40 weeks today also. Nothing can prepare you for birth but thank you for this video it was knowledgeable.
How do you advocate for yourself when you don’t want an induction but your OB is pushing it bc of a “just in case” scenario? I’ve tried explaining that my BP is never taken correctly at the office and it’s always low when I take it at home the proper way, yet my “elevated BP” is the driving factor behind them telling me an induction will be necessary. I really don’t want to go through another unnecessary induction, especially when I know whole heartedly that there is nothing going on that would necessitate one.
I had a similar experience but it was with my baby’s heart rate. I truly believed that it was the equipment that was reading my heart at times when I moved (for example when I went to the restroom) rather than my baby’s. So they assumed my baby’s heart rate was dramatically dropping randomly. I explained what I thought was happening but I just got dismissed. I had to argue with one of the doctors at the hospital to lay off of me. She was really pushy about me being induced.
I'm getting induced because my nurse (I only ever saw a Dr. once who told me about vaccines I should take while pregnant to protect my baby) thinks that waiting 42 weeks is "too long," along with my husband, who is worried that I have not felt any contractions or Braxton hicks even though I am 41 weeks today. I know I have a choice, but the pressure has beat me, and I gave in. But I hope to do my best for my baby and do what I can, even though induction was not part of my plan.
Can you make a video/ or just explain if systemic medications are a safe choice if we don’t want an epidural? Will this affect the baby, will it interfere with the mommas breathing? What medications are available? I know it won’t be as effective with relieving pain like the epidural but if it can take the edge off it’s an option, I’m terrified of getting an epidural!
Getting induced in the morning, exactly 40 weeks. I'm 37, and having my boy! My little girl was induced at 42 weeks, when I was 32. Wasn't a horrible experience, but I definitely learned from it! He is measuring a little bigger, than my daughter, but he could be more. I'm glad my midwife, is looking out for my vagina. I had no rips or tears with my daughter, so we are being precautionary. Cant wait to spend the rest of my leave with both my children!.
For anyone curious about the value of early induction as a preventative measure, you can look into the ARRIVE trial, which randomized pregnant women at 39 weeks to induction or following expentant course of care. It found that elective induction resulted in a significantly lower risk of cesarean birth and no significant difference in neonatal complications. Don't feel bad about choosing to do an elective induction - there is evidence to back it up!
Being induced tomorrow!! Cholestasis has made it that way. First child and hasn't been easy at all. But I'm excited to meet my little man. I'll be having my water broke then pitocin!
Thank you Bridget. I am currently 40+3 days over in the UK, expecting our first baby at 41 years of age. Induction has been recommended due to my age however I read ‘Why Induction Matters’ an evidenced book about induction and decided having weighed up risks and benefits and listening to instinct that I wasn’t ready for induction just yet.... I am a healthy fit 41 year old! However sometimes I do get anxious (impatient as well!)and think maybe it’s a good idea.... So what ever direction I go your videos are really informative and supportive. I love the breath work too which compliments the hypnobirthing I’ve been doing. Many thanks 🙏😊
This video helped so much. I've been induced before but it's been a while. I know what to expect but I did need the refresher. Thank you for your videos
thanks so much for this video @bridget! one of the permaculture principles I live by is to Creatively Use and Respond to Change. Should I need an induction I now feel like I have more tools and agency with which to advocate for a smoother process. Also, I love the affirmations of “My breath is my baby’s breath” and “my relaxation is my baby’s relaxation”.
@@Dreadybear.Ichode my kid is now 22 months and i ended up with an emergency c section. I've done a lot of reflection on that experience and permaculture insights definitely helped. Yay for radical self reliance as a birthing mother but i am so grateful for that ecosystem of specialists who worked together to get my kid out so quickly.
Thanks for watching this video, Mama!! How far along are you and what are you hoping for your birth experience?
40 + 3 today hoping baby comes before the weekend 🙏🏻
@@eveyfitzpatrick 40 + 4 for me! Also hoping something starts before the weekend. Best of luck to you!
@@amandamcelfresh7417 that's often true for most hospitals. You can always try using inducing labor on your own before your pitocin induction!
Thank you for sharing this. 💖
Thank you for sharing. My baby is sunny side up right now and they want to induce me in 5 days. I feel encouraged by reading your story but praying he can do this on his own before then 🙏
@@sarahk1412 Prayers for you all. Let me know how it goes 🙌🙌
Thank you so much for this. I was worried I had to throw out having a natural birth being induced. God bless you. ❤️
This is my fifth but 17 years later and my body at 44 cant handle it - i cant walk@38 weeks baby is breaking pelvic and hips
thank you. so many doulas and birth workers are so against induction and i feel so bad i can have that 100% natural birth i wanted when i started.
Sarah love this
Thank u so much, I was starting to feel bad that I actually asked to be induced n it wasn’t because of medical reasons 🙈.
Thank you for this! I’m also getting an elective induction at 39 weeks. Just 8 days away
Don't feel bad if you're getting induced for a reason that is not medically necessary. There's some good research that shows getting induced at 39 weeks is actually a good thing because the placenta starts to die/reduce function @ 40 weeks. and also just because its completely YOUR CHOICE.
Thanks 🥺🥺
Completely agree! Also, what if the baby becomes to large after the 40th week... Delivery will be more complicated and even could end up in an emergency Csection
This is why my ob is recommending that we can be induced at 39 weeks! I am looking forward to knowing when it will happen and have a schedule for my other kids too! I think if we go in with a positive open mind it will be a wonderful birth either way! No matter what happens our baby’s will be here with us and that’s the greatest outcome of it all!!
Yes to this ! My doctor asked me if I’d like to be induced at 39 weeks and I couldn’t be happier 😭
I’m getting an induction tomorrow at 41 weeks because baby decided she loves my womb so much she doesn’t wanna dilate and come out 😭
I was induced at 39 weeks 4 days because of preeclampsia. They started me with the pill that softens the cervix, then the foley bulb, and eventually Pitocin. I was still able to go Med and epidural free with these tips and your meditations 🙏🏼✨
That’s what’s happening to me tomorrow !
Thank you for this comment!! I am now at 38 weeks and my doctor wants to book me in this Friday to get induced. They are worried I might have preeclampsia because of the level of protein in my urine… however I have no other symptoms such as high blood pressure and etc… I am very skeptical of them wanting to give me induction as I feel very perfectly fine and capable to have a spontaneous labour on my own…
I’m a husband trying to support my wife who’s being induced. We’re in the hospital. Wish us luck!
@@sarahpierce9043 I was just shy of 2cm dilated (my Dr said 1.5cm) with a soft cervix. All the best!!
Yes I'm the same! Wed I was a little over one and 50% effaced. Thank you!! Tomorrow morning is the big day
I go in tomorrow to be induced. I am 41.4 weeks and already at 4cm. I'm going to deny the rupture of my water though and see how I progress with the pitocin. I'm very excited!!
I'm so scared, congratulations on your little one
Tonight I go in for my elective induction offered by my doctor! My baby is HEALTHY and I do not feel ashamed whatsoever. My husband is fully supportive! I am so excited. This is my second baby, my first baby was 8 years ago and I was able to experience my water breaking, this baby is much more snug. I can’t wait to meet this angel! Even more exciting that we don’t know the sex! Big surprise!!!🎉
People are so flippant about forcing their body and baby to do something they aren’t ready for.
I just had an induction a 36 weeks for severe preeclampsia. Definitely not apart of the plan! But she's here and healthy. Born on the 4th of July weighing 4 pounds 7 ounces 👶❤
What were your main preeclampsia symptoms ? Did you manage to have a natural birth?
@@inpeaceharmonywithp8202 the weird thing is that I never had any symptoms. The only thing I had was dangerously high BP's up to 196/120. I had IV magnesium to prevent seizures and a stroke. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still on BP meds. I'm just so grateful I was able to make it to 36 weeks
Stephanie M. Thank God, take care 🙏🏾
Was she in the nicu?
Congratulations Beautiful 💓
I'm being induced at 39 weeks Baby may come on the 4th or 5th of July 🌟 so exciting !
Given this video was meant for mamas on track to be induced it was disappointing to hear the “wait til the baby’s ready” philosophy. I’m sure most of us are worried, but listening to our practitioner. We’re already feeling some level of guilt but trying to do what’s best.
right!
Thank you 🤦♀️🙄
Bottom line is: every womans labor is different. Every womans birth is different. There is not a one size fits all for birth.
Thank you for your comment! That's really encouraging
Thank you for sharing this! It encourages me! ❤
This is the comment I needed. In the same boat getting induced in two days.
Thank you! How messed up is that!
Thank you 🙏🏼
This is was so comforting, thank you Bridget.
Good luck to you
How did it go? I'm going next week..
Same.. what ended up happening? Did you do the induction?
I did the induction and of course I ended up having the cascade of interventions and led to a C-section 😢 now I’m trying to achieve a vbac very soon…
Getting induced tomorrow, 40 weeks + 3 days . Was hoping baby would come on his own but was diagnosed with macrosomia . This video definitely helped get some tips on how to handle the pain

how did it go? I am being induced due to cholestasis tomorrow.
Thank you for this Bridget! I’m 42 weeks in my first pregnancy and am having to be induced the day after tomorrow due to how overdue I am. So far from my plan for an unmedicated birth. I’m so nervous but I’m trying to mentally prepare. Thank you for all that you do!
They want to induce me just cause I'm having twins 🤦🏻♀️😭
@@JJJakubiec How it went? How do you feel?

I asked to get induced and my dr said I can but I’m nervous
I know everyone always says "our body is made for this" or "let the body do what it is supposed to" .. but in my case that would've killed me and my baby. Of course I would've preferred labour to start by it's own without inducing, but on the other hand I am super grateful there are medical resources nowadays to help save mums and their little ones. Despite my birth 3 weeks ago being negative and traumatic, I have made my peace with it. For me it helped to not have had a birth plan, it made it much easier to accept and move on after such a short time. Now there is only love left for our beautiful baby girl.
Followed all this tips as much as I could with my induced labor ...it was amazing and really helpful thank u..had baby 2 nights ago 🤍
I was induced at 39weeks 3 days bc I was 4cm dilated when I went in for a regular Dr appointment. had no idea lol. they said I could have the baby that same day if I wanted so i said sure! they gave me pitocin n the epidural, easiest labor ~
Hi..did you or your baby had any side effects due to epidural hours post getting it?
I never make a birth plan. I'm getting induced with my 5th baby on Thursday. This will be my 3rd induction. I just know that I'm never in control and so submitting to God's will is easier for me than trying to make it MY perfect birth. My OB is amazing and she never takes for granted my situation and how I feel. She has always been my biggest advocate (next to my husband).
Have to get induced today because of my babys heart beat being irregular. I'm really scared/worried but im going to watch and hear all your videos during the process. Wish me luck.

@@LifeConJenni got epidural at 5cm 😳🤧😂 couldn’t do it with that pitocin and water break I was dying. Pushed 45 minutes for him.
@@priyankapainter5854 I’m sorry I just seen this! But how did everything go for you?
Getting induced tonight! Thank you for the tips and praying everything will turn out well 🙏
How did it go I’m induced Friday
How it went?
Did you make it without epidural or did you choose to take the epidural?
Chewbacca Chewy how long did the whole thing last from induction to baby?
Oh I love people who come back and give an update.
My wife had severe preeclampsia and she had and induction because her kidneys were failing, thank fully she recovered

How was your delivery eventually?
I’m getting induced just because I’m 39 weeks and I’m not dilating and I’m touching 200 lbs weighing 194 when I never in my life been over 145. She has to come out lol
How was your labor & delivery???
@@lizislovely_ I ended up not getting induced she came on her own water broke and everything
How is not dilating at 39 weeks a reason for indiction? Cervix dilation is not an indicator or labor. Some dilate over weeks before labor some minutes of few hours before labor start...
Same here 😭!!
How did it go? Wishing you nothing but the best momma.💕
@@ariannemoments5701 everything went amazing! I have a healthy baby boy!
How did it go? I hope you and baby are doing amazing
Lena Marie I was induced and it was super positive!! You got this!! 👍🏻
Thank you

Currently 24 hours into my induction and it is moving so slowly. Thank you for these videos 💕

@@gabby5337 I'm gettin induced on saturday. I'm so excited to meet my little boy.
Getting induced tonight. I desperately wanted to go into labor naturally, but it hasn't happened for me. I'm 10 days overdue.

Thank you for making this video! It’s calmed all my anxiety and fears

I'm getting induced tomorrow morning! I'm so nervous!
High blood pressure 🙋🏽♀️
Stay strong!!!!!!
I'm glad you shared this because I have been induced several times. My water had not broken yet.
Im in the same exact situation as a FTM
Me too. And getting induction right now. Blood pressure is perfect. Only in their office is elevated
Getting induced tomorrow 🥰 can’t wait to meet my boy
Me too
I’m past my due date and getting induced so I’m here :)
I'm getting induced tmrw June 3rd! I'm about to watch this video! Hope I find these tips useful! I'm a first time mama! 🙏🙏🙏
That’s my induction date too! (For this year though) lol
What lesson did you learn from the 42week induction? Was it too late? I’m 40+3 with no real signs of labor yet.
It seems a lot of people are missing the point of your content... she isn't saying you can't get induced. She just wants to educate us on things.
Getting induced tomorrow this was very helpful thank you!
I have to get induced and don’t want to so thank you ❤😢
And plenty other evidence says otherwise

Thank you Bridget. I am currently 40+3 days over in the UK, expecting our first baby at 41 years of age. Induction has been recommended due to my age however I read ‘Why Induction Matters’ an evidenced book about induction and decided having weighed up risks and benefits and listening to instinct that I wasn’t ready for induction just yet.... I am a healthy fit 41 year old! However sometimes I do get anxious (impatient as well!)and think maybe it’s a good idea....
