What an AWESOME intro. Yes, we are to pray for our politicians and leaders, *especially* when we don't agree with them. What a low, entitled place we have come to hear people saying they wished he didn't miss. That is a life right there, and yes, it is just politics. God and ourselves(right now) have more control over our lives for the most part than the govt. Thank you for addressing and sharing that event and your thoughts!

The comment was made before Dave realized the teenagers' situation. Mr. Ramsey cleaned up his delivery afterwards. I wish them two the best and hope the gentleman makes the right decision. He truly has a good heart, however, it is not his responsibility to provide for his girlfriend as a minor.
I, myself, was orphaned at 17 and treaded water to survive but I also had a boyfriend with an amazing family. I married the boyfriend (at 21) but after years of family help. I lived with his family (I was around age 18 1/2) when I didn’t have any other options till I was able to get my own place again….now at 47 I am doing what I consider well for myself but idk if I would be doing as well without the family holding me up till I could do it myself. I will forever be grateful for him and his family even though the marriage didn’t work.
Dave’s insight at the beginning was quite wise.
Sometimes family can be a huge liability when they're not holding their own weight. That one guy with his mom in law living with him and 21 year old son there's no reason why any of them should be in debt with all those abled bodies.

The caller who inherited all that Apple stock wants to liquidated it ALL. Why do people do this? Sell 75% and keep 25%, at least it is a solid, dividend paying stock that costs you nothing. Apple split 4-1 a few years ago and the stock price is going up, it will split again. Why do people make it a binary choice to sell all or keep all?
House closing costs vary place to place. For example, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania each have a property transfer tax that many places do not. You end up paying over 4% in taxes alone. That doesn't include all the other usual closing costs!
With all the political talk... makes me wonder if the baby steps could be applied to get the country out of debt.
I'm afraid to think of what they would sell to get past baby step 2. 😭

To the 17yr old trying to buy a car for his girlfriend. DON’T DO IT!!! One thing that they didn’t mention is the psychological and relational difficulty that happens when someone is in “debt” to someone else. Dave typically talks about this in other contexts when it’s a loan, but it also applies to gifts. Personally I never want to accept huge gifts from people because it makes me feel like I owe something to them. This car gift might put the girlfriend in a cornered situation. She might feel like she now owes something to the guy and it will make her resent him long term. Sometimes trying to help, actually backfires and complicates the situation in ways that could have been avoided.

this administration is driving me nuts!! The only American who won't acknowledge this Administration's failed economic policies is Joe Biden. "Shrink-flation' is the least of our worries compared to rising rents and stagnant wages, but it is an undeniable indicator of how bad our inflation has gotten. I have $100k that i like to invest in a non-retirement account, any advice on that?
For the time being, I would stay away from index funds, mutual funds, and particular stocks. The best option available at the moment is a five percent fixed income. Set aside funds for when the market begins to recover significantly.

I’m not sure Dave is correct. A single round of IVF is likely $7,500 in a foreign country. I’ve been through 3 egg retrievals in Virginia in the last two years and it’s easily $15-20K per retrieval. I hope the caller tries to find a new job that provides insurance coverage. With our coverage of 90%, we were able to cash flow IVF and have two beautiful children. Best of luck!! ❤

Agreed. My full IVF cycle cost me 10K and the baby we were blessed with turned 22 yesterday! It has got to be much more now than it was almost 25 years ago.

Anne - if you do not want to have your estranged daughter inherit anything or cause any disturbance later, be sure you have that put specifically in the will. In most states, most children inherit automatically unless there is a statement to the contrary in the will.

This young man needs to NOT buy anything that is more expensive than maybe a corsage or a bouquet for his girlfriend and he certainly shouldn't consider buying her a car when he has $800. He does NOT need to go into debt to buy something that is so expensive it will probably take longer to pay for than the relationship will last. How would he even buy the car? He's not old enough to sign a contract so his mom or dad would have to sign for it and if a parent is going to help buy a car, it should be one of HER parents because the car is for her! SHE needs to be with her parents until she finishes high school and then I think she needs to work for a while before she considers having a permanent relationship with a man. I don't understand parents who allow minor children to live together in their home. Dave would call it "playing house" and I call it just plain foolish to even consider this at their ages.
I'm not sure I believe that she left her parent's home because of a "safety issue". I think it's a lot more likely that she left because she didn't want to abide by the rules her parents set down and she probably has convinced BF that there were safety issues to get him solidly on her side. She certainly wouldn't be the first young girl to lie to a young man about being mistreated by her parents so BF (or maybe in this case BF's parents) would let her move in with them. I sincerely hope this young man takes a step back. He needs to NOT buy her a car and he needs to NOT mess up and have a child with her at this point.

I was getting ready to change my car insurance to Zander and had the Rep jack up the price at the end of the call by $100. I said no to that! You may want to check on them Dave to make sure they are who they say they are. She also told me to keep my whole life insurance.
If your mother-in-law has a financial problem, why would selling her house to invest the proceeds to fix your house help her? It seems more to your benefit than hers?
She would not be fixing THEIR house. She would be using the money from the sell of her house to fix up the secondary residence on their property to convert it into a private space for her to live in with the agreement that she can live there for the rest of her life. I didn't get that she would be using ALL the money from the sell of her house to make modifications to the house on her son's property. The advantage to her would be that she would be mere steps from her son's house and they could reach her quickly if she needed help and yet she would have her own private space. Dave advised them to get an airtight contract stating that she had made certain upgrades to the property and in return she could live there for the rest of her life. I think this would be a huge benefit to her. Did I misunderstand something?

You have to use chat on their website and send them your email, along with which products you were looking to buy. They will honor the prices you heard but have to run it through a manual process since prices have been changed.

Thank you Dave you’re right. I came to this country when I was 15 but I grew up in a chaotic country( east Africa). I am I don’t care for Trump but assassination is a terrible thing to a country. Destabilize the country. I don’t I like the current president either . I voted for him, but I want him to give up after four years go to retirement he didn’t that irritates me to no end. But Assassination is the worst thing to happen to country. Because I grew up in a chaotic, destabilize assassination country is still goes on and I’m in my 40s and it’s sad.

What’s the best way to build credit to buy a home without using credit cards?
What if you currently have a mortgage and need to move up in house. My credit score dropped once I got rid of credit cards which I wasn’t even using.

@@maureenm8046 you're not in a great spot due to having a credit score that's low. If I were in your shoes, I would sit down with a mortgage lender and explain the situation. They may decide to do a manual underwrite. Good luck,
You don't need credit to get a home loan, you need manual underwriting and you will get the loan despite credit
A 30 year old dating a 19vuear old is predatory and gross. Just listen to the way he talks down about her in less than 30 seconds for make an average middle class income. I hope they called him out on it.
The mortgage market is completely broken by Fanny and Freddy, to the point that an underwriter has no idea how to give himself a mortgage
The Gabriel (13:00) call was rough. Dave was overly annoyed for no apparent reason. The guy was pretty clear on why he was calling and the mess he made. I don’t think he was ignoring/excusing his mistake or running from it. He knows he has to get rid of the house and is trying to find solutions. It was a good question, with knowing he did something stupid by adding all fees to his house loan.

I have a question for dave. I have been in a relationship with my girlfriend for 5 years. But she is still married legally. I want to move on with my finacial goals and be able to work with her to get there. When do i or do i just move on with out her or just do my own finacial goals myself? Hope you can give me addvice.

On a serious note, you cannot physically join financially until marriage to each other. Her being married to another isn't going to work. If anything happens to her, her current spouse gets it all.

Until then, Plan your alone goals, make plans for your single life and do not include her, or her wishes, says or wants in your life plans.If you do, not only will she never respect you as a man, but worst she will demean your values and character to the lowest, until you one day will wake up, and will feel abused, resented and still - not her problem - cuz you will voluntarily become her side piece.
A person that will truly love and appreciate you, would not want to have any..reapeat ..would not want ANY kind of deeper, social, legal or emotional ATTACHMENT to any other, than you. Value yourself before you value a life with or , as in this case, for her. Good luck.

The case with Aaron (17 years old) - this station should not be giving ANY advice to minors except the most basic such as save, get someone to help you invest, etc. It is very dangerous in these days and times to give any kind of counseling to minors beyond that. Minors are a pretty protected group.
