Find me every day at my blog www.joscountryjunction.com. I share much from quilting to cross stitch to books to recipes to family life. I've started the new Sew With Jo series and have been having so much fun with it.
If you have questions, please ask in the comment section. I promise to get back to you.

Quilting is like most anything, the more you do, the more "in a groove" you get. Soon you'll find what works for you.

I was knitting while you were chatting and sewing. Loved seeing you finish all those blocks. And before I forget, at 21minutes you counted 12 then 18, so I'm guessing you are 3 short.

"There are some stinky parts to quilting"! Haha, I love that and hope you don't mind me quoting you. I will give you all the credit! Thanks for keeping it real in your Sew With Jo videos.

Quilting originated from a need to provide warm coverings for family and these women had to use what they had on hand. So, I agree with you, JO, we should all do what works for us and give grace to our fellow hobbyists to follow their own quilting muse.

Jo, I continue to enjoy these videos and your blog. Even though I’ve been quilting for many years, I usually learn something new from you. I admire you for the way you love your family and always put them first in your life. It’s fun to quilt with you and listen to your chat about your life. Thanks for taking the time to film these.

Love your sew and chat. You are so sincere. I love how you actually sew and talk at the same time. There is another youtuber who does that, Tiffany. This lady makes whole quilts in an episode. Your channel is soooo interesting. Thank you.

Loved your video! I really liked the part where you encourage folks to do their own thing to make quilting enjoyable for them. Newbies to quilting may not realize that yet so hearing it from a seasoned quilter helps I think. I don't get any magazine subscriptions anymore but I do think I'm going to get one to American Patchwork & Quilting after hearing how many of your quilts will be in the magazine. See you in the next video 👋

Can you tell about the large grey cone of thread, is it 50 weight and what company do you get it from. Plus do you only use it for piecing.

I finally was able to finish watching this. Our computer is in our living room and my husband isn't able to watch tv if I have sewing noise on the computer. (he's very hard of hearing, even with his hearing aids. Voices, etc are fine, but sewing machines overpower apparently). It took me 3 different times to be able to finish! I like your format. I have watched other live ones and all the comments I find distracting. I like just sitting back and watching, or doing some handwork at the desk while I'm watching/listening. I would never presume to tell you how to do this wonderful job for us-I'm just grateful for whatever I get! My daughter tells her kids:
You get what you get and you don't throw a fit!!

My grandmother came from Finland, she said all levels of a house need a door, they usually have 3 floors, a very steep roof, no decks either, just for when the lower floors are snowed in. So they can still get in and out of the house in winter. It must be dangerous in the melting season, because 1/2 of the whole country is lakes already.
Hey, you could tack or pin a piece of batting around a curtain rod, then push the rod up across the top of your open cupboard doors... then put the batting into the quilt you are doing and store the curtain rod away for next time. Karen Brown tapes up a flannel backed plastic table cloth in the stairwell of her apartment building. I have also seen big cardboard sheets with 2 folds, like a room divider screen covered in a flannel sheet or something. Which folds flat and goes away when not needed. You can make any sized design boards yourself, from cardboard (thick or a few layers going different ways for strength) or foam board, covered with a sleeve, or batt one side and hot-glue? a binding on. Brenda from conquering mt. Scrapmore has a few in pretty colours.
When my sister gets free time, for crafting, she bakes a lasagne to leave in the fridge, then goes for a piece when she needs food. She has a light vegetable lasagne recipe, so she doesn't mind it cold or nuked, for a couple of days, it freezes so she can keep it longer, when hubby comes back, and she needs to cook for him. all the best.

I piece on a Grand Quilter or Hobby 1200 it's known as both. I did use it as a longarm (midarm really) I hated it for that. I had all sorts of problems with it then.

I agree with you not everything needs to be perfect. Also tips to reduce sewing is always best. Keep teaching tips because i was very upset after sewing 50 1 inch squares together and then saw a tip to make the strips sets. Now I read and research each pattern.
    Great videos and ideas.

Do you ever set your seams

    • @JosCountryJunction
      @JosCountryJunction  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

No, I don't set my seams. I don't want them set. I want them to have give. I know it's popular for a lot of people to set them though. Try it both ways and do what you like best. There is no "one right way" to quilting.
