I don't understand why there are so few likes and views. I do not know English well, but I even understood everything that the man said! I just started studying Plumbing, but it's too late! my dream is to go to America and work there, honestly earning money !!

Great info for DIYers! Just bought a Sharkbite PEX cutter.

Please do a demonstration using 1/2" PEX pipe. I think you will find it much more difficult to get straight cuts. If you find a way to get straight cuts consistently, please post how.

Years ago when pex was first introduced all the cutters were terrible. I would take a copper tube cutter and run it around the pex a few times to score a perfectly straight line in it. The cutter would follow that scored line and give you a dead on straight cut.

I plan on using the shark bite-push to fit connectors in some areas that aren’t inside the wall., I’ve found that while making practice cuts with a new Rigid hand cutting tool., not a single cut is visibly square ., they’re all on a slight angle. I’m tempted to use a miter saw., though., that could be dangerously difficult with shorter pipe lengths. I can’t imagine the micro serrations of the blade causing a seal problem with those connectors., and of course that’d be a non issue if you were using crimp rings, as, those would be far removed from the crimp ring seal anyway.

You have to get pex cutters that have a point to the blade, like the Milwaukee ones. The flat blade style requires you to rotate the cutters while you cut so you don’t crimp the pipe. Those straight blade pex cutters are junk

This type of cutter works well on ¾ pipe and larger but becomes inaccurate on ½ or smaller. Must have a V in the cutter jaw to support the pipe properly.

I thought it was just me screwing up cutting 1/2" pex pipe with this tool! I just put all new pex fittings throughout my whole house to replace plastic threaded connections which were leaking. I was getting really pissed about not getting a straight cuts a lot of the time. I still don't know why a couldn't get straight cuts .

I use those same cutters and on half inch it seems hit or miss. Ill get some noticeable angles on some cuts and not a clue why. Honestly can’t say I’ve seen too many perfectly straight cuts from it. Maybe 3/4 fills that space more and it has less room to move around when the blade engages? Either way I guess on pex A expansion fittings a slightly imperfect cut isn’t a big worry as it might be with a shark bite fitting?

The Rigid hand cut tool doesn’t have a flat seat., in fact it tapers away from each side of the center cutting line making square cuts virtually impossible., I gotta wonder if those visible irregularities are a non issue when seating those push to fit connectors ., where I’d guess the reliability of the connection is mainly based on the clean squareness of the end cut. My old house has had plumbing issues galore., I just want to be sure I’m getting this right. 😵‍💫

Pex Comes in a coil in large lethts over 10' and has a "memory" and tries to curve back so its difficult to pur a square on it.

Why not a copper pipe cutter?

Copper cutters actually work very well for this. You just need to apply light pressure and spin it gently gradually

In fact, I’d say, if you’re using crimp rings., you could even cut with a hack saw as long as you aren’t stupidly abusing and splitting the pipe with a dull blade., the seal is within the crimp ring only.

miter saw will make the cleanest 90 angle cut because there is not human error. You can easily de-burr any stray plastic after the miter saw cut. With respect, you don't need us to buy another $25 tool from Home Depot that is not necessary.

You ever use a miter saw in a crawl space repiping a house?? Not to mention the curls in the pipe rolls and trying to get it to stay straight.
