Another awesome and informative video...thank you!
Thank you
I appreciate this feedback
Loving this series! Thanks for sharing.
You are most welcome
Thank you for the kind feedback
Nice video, as always. I'm in Pattaya at the moment, too. It's a fun place, but not for too long.
Excellent!
Songkran !!!
Great energy and clarity. I’m like you except I chose to sell my primary home (way too many restrictions and laws that make it stressful to live there plus the exorbitant property taxes), but kept other low stress properties. I just returned from Thailand. Costs are 20% of my costs here, plus I fell fully alive, vibrant, engaged with my life, learning fascinating things every moment and making many new friends, and a healthier diet and lifestyle. 🙏🏼
This is fantastic to read
I am very happy for you
This is going to be a great year
Thank you. I wanted to mention I have BRK as my core position in addition to dividends and it’s a great defensive position
That was very informative and entertaining, thank you for your time it took to prepare and share with us...loved the blooper at the end hehehe 😊
Thank you :-)
I appreciate the feedback very much !
Hey R&G...great ending, had me laughing. Nice of you to take care of the mad dawgs out there. Also thx for putting together some breakdowns on your costs in Pattaya. You are always so organized ! Safe travels !
Thank you so much
Yes I love them mad dawgs
I am always careful not to spook them haha
You are seriously overpaying for food, go to Terminal 21 where quality freshly cooked to order food costs less than foodcarts
True
They do have darn good deals there
Outside of the videos I eat like 1 dollar meals from carts and food I make in my room
terminal 21 food court is one of the best deals around. 30 baht for a plate of food.
I really like to thank you for sharing your experience of costing Liv in Pattaya you perfectly explain everything you wanted to know.
Thank you for this kind comment!
@@RetireandGo I used to have a blog with thousands of followers. it was great fun until the crazies start harrassing you. when they start threatening your life, that is when I stopped blogging publicly. lots of my friends who were bloggers too also stopped blogging for the same reason. be careful with whom you meet up. I say this from experience.

When I was there I wound up eating variations on a "Full English Breakfaast" at a number of restaraunts. Always under 200 baht.
I had my teeth cleaned at Hollywood Smile - $40
At ny age, it looks like insurance in Thailand will be a lot more. I was looking at puttin a million baht in a local account for health care needs
Very interesting!
Yes I love those breakfast meals
Dental work in Thailand is the way to go
The insurance account is interesting
I would like to know more about that
You are so kind to the animals. Enjoy your day in Pattaya.
I like dogs and cats :-)
Looking forward to you next video! Could you please review a few more accommodation options in the area?
I've always use Agooda while traveling in VN or Thailand. IMHO...it's is a good starting place to search for a hotel room. There are plenty of reviews.
BUT......because of slander and libel laws. I suspect that maybe, some reviews are just, "rose colored imagination". Read between the lines.
Yes ok I will
There are some nice little hotels with great prices
Very good info

Great video. I walked the same path when I stayed at the Lewitt hotel (paid too much at this place) I recommend the D Hotel on Soi Buchao excellent information on the cost-of-living in Pattaya! Healthcare is something I didn’t think about. Thank you!

You are in high season at the moment. You should wait until May when it's Low season and everything goes down in price also jomtien is a fantastic location
Yes true
I like the different seasons in these fantastic countries
It’s a way to see the price and activity changes
Thanks for the video and advice. Last year, I lived in the Jomtien area for 6 months and my monthly budget was $3K and that's with companionship with a regular Thai lady for 3x a week without buying any LDs and barfines. I did not eat any western food due way more expensive and been eating Thai food in the market. In my early 50's now, I was planning to retire but I changed my mind in the very last second and back to work again in CA, started from scratch. Will do this again, next year.
That’s a darn good budget
3000 a month is solid
Reads like you had some fun haha

I went back to work twice when I planned to retire early.
Finally did it in 2022 at the age of 52

How are the noise levels at night at Sutus Court ? It seems to be right in the middle of the action so I was wondering if you had any issues with loud noise from the street.
I’ve stayed at Sutus Court many times over the years, the rooms at the back are very quiet and the first smaller swimming in the vlog, is a jacuzzi which you can turn on, amazing 😊
Great question
You can ask for inside facing rooms
Otherwise there is a little bar music at night
You can go past 3rd road for cheaper rooms and no noise at night except the occasional scooter with no muffler haha
@@roygoad2870want quiet closer to3rd road and big C is good near central Pattaya
Tut tut my friend, you go to pratumnak, yet miss out some hot spots for eating. Try the sit down/or takeaway at the red lights on the hill, 50/60 baht most things. For breakfast. Soi whitehouse Danish bar is a must do, eat like a horse 160bht, sunday night roast is a 10/10. , then you have the rompho further down. Plus the bars. Good luck!
Oh! I need to check that out
Thank you
I love love Pattaya. But I am chomping at the bit to see you in Hua Hin. You gotta' do a flyby and say hello to Nina!! A whole sit down discussion with her perhaps?
I loved my trip to Hua Hin. My GF? Well, she wasn't impressed so much. She liked Pattaya much better. At any rate.....yeah.....an interview with Nina. That would be something.

Hua Hin was Forbes #1 pick for retirement pretty recently. It's got everything Jomtien/Pattaya has but much less populated, quieter, less dense.
Nina is super sweet and knows Hua Hin.
I myself would love to see you have conversations once in awhile on your channel.

I really enjoy it for simple low cost rooms.

I really enjoy your Vlogs and have been a subscriber for a while. I am in a position to retire soon. With investments and lifestyle what do you believe is the benchmark for cash to travel South East Asia. What should you have as a minimum? I understand that is open ended - interested in your view.
I would shoot for 2000 a month income to be ready for south east Asia
That will not only cover your monthly expenses but give you a few hundred a month to keep buying more dividend stocks
That way you build your retirement in retirement
I had a crown done with rood canal and it was several thousand!!!! Stupid question, how often do you get check up and cleaning? Its hard for me, they don't do them on the military base I'm on. A lot of the time American dentist are months out.

Forgive me I stumbled on your channel if my maths is correct your paying 25k to stay at Sutus court ? is this a sort term accommodation or have you been there for a while ? If long term why are you not going the condo route
There are cheaper condos for sure if you extend your visas out

The spelling of Phratamnak is very frustrating, there seems to be about 4 different ways! But one thing is for sure, it’s my favourite area to live long term 😊. If your over 50 years old, it’s very easy to get a yearly Non O visa, once your in Thailand on a 30 day entry just visit a reputable visa agent!

Have you tried cost of living in places like Seoul Koreas or it's countryside cities? I understand that some expats can even pull off a sub $1000K / month life in smaller Japanese cities too. Then there is Mongolia and even parts Taiwan. You can have more content this way.
I will look into Korea and Japan later this year

Those condos are expensive for Pattaya but I suppose if you’re paying the daily rate that’s what you’ll get. You can easily spend less than $300/month if you sign up for that long. Also, a 30-day visa extension is obtainable for about $60, so you can at least do 60 days til you have to leave.
True good point !

Okay so let me ask one question. Whole 'FIRE' movement, is a little bit overhyped for me. While it may seems a dream-lifestyle to someone who worked whole life and saw nothing else - this is in fact living without purpose. How are you dealing with this? Im at my mid 30s, left my corpo job to travel. Did this for 5monts. Since December 2023 I visited Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia... and feeling terribly exhausted, stopped enjoying it, feeling bored and tired. Need to get back to home right now. How you maintaining this kind of lifestyle? Maybe you can make one video about that? Thanks
That would be a great video for sure.
1. Invest in dividend stocks and bond funds until you have about 2000 a month in passive income .
2. Move to low cost country
That’s my FIRE plan
There is no 4 percent rule
Otherwise they are kind of close I think
People who are thinking of living full time in Bangkok should seek the option of those who live (and have been living for years) in Bangkok. You can't live comfortably for less than $1600 per month. Sure it's doable for less but not really sustainable. Most expats who live full time in Bangkok are on $2000 budget (or more ) per month.. Please note that 2k does not offer a high living standard but rather a very decent one.
2000 is a very comfortable life in Southeast Asia in general.
Other than Singapore haha
Otherwise 2000 a month is a pleasant and wonderful life.
I’m proving it for my third year now :-)
I have been living in thailand for over 26+ years. working on my 27th year now. I live on less than 1000 dollars a month all this time. and I assure you I live a good life. eat out daily. all-you-can-eat breakfast buffets for 199 baht. even 179 baht. a better one 219 baht. many around. I even hangout on walking street twice a week. easy on 1000 dollars a month.

What's the difference between a n expat and an immigrant? 😁
Great question!
An expat legally gets a visitor visa in the country and an exit requirement
An immigrant applies for citizenship
That is possible but very hard in Asia
@@RetireandGo There are lots of long-term immigrants with residency permits. I dunno.. I think they're loaded terms. The first time I came across this was an article about British "expats" in Spain.. they'd retired and been living there for years and then Brexit came, suddenly they became subject to rules that applied to non-EU citizens and were complaining vociferously about it. The writer of the article pointed out that expats and immigrants were essentially the same thing, but the term "immigrant" was usually (at least in Europe) applied to people from poorer countries like Syria and Poland living in richer countries like the UK, while those from richer countries moving to poorer ones (even Spain!) were "expats", and the reason the expats in Spain were complaining so much was they had a sense of entitlement that, say, a Polish truck driver in Britain would never feel.
@@RetireandGo I don't think that's true - there are lots of immigrants that live for years on resident visas, even to the extent of having children and raising families. Perhaps you might call these people "expats", but again, what's the difference? Some years ago I came across an article about British "expats" who were living in Spain - they were very upset because the rules had changed due to Brexit, to them that wasn't fair, because they'd been working or had been retired, living in Spain under EU residency laws, and now they had to fill in extra paperwork to remain there. The writer of the article was of the opinion that the term "expat" was just a euphemism, to differentiate people like this from, say, a Polish lorry driver in Britain, or one of the thousands of people from Syria or Africa trying to get into, or already in, the EU. So the term "immigrant" has negative connotations - they're people from poorer countries (even such as Poland) who move to richer countries, while "expats" are those who move from richer countries to poorer ones (such as Spain). As you are probably aware, there are thousands of Burmese immigrants in Thailand - maybe we should call them "expats" too.
@@iskandartaib interesting thoughts for sure !
Congratulations on escaping the hate.
Yes true
There is a whole world out there for us to explore
There's a bad trend amongst YT vloggers that are either so crass or have a distinct lack of vocabulary. Stop calling these economies 'cheap'. You're basically facilitating an imminent price increase. Explain that they're less costly or good value, but please stop calling them cheap. Also you stated that Dragon house was built in the 60's? I think that is highly unlikely, as Pattaya was a sleepy fishing village back then. Soi Buakhao didn't go past The Marquee bar until 1991 ish. I know this from talking to people who've been visiting Pattaya since 1976. I've a friend who went there in 1985 and said none of the Soi's along Beach Rd existed as they do now. They were merely cut ways and Walking Street was just about the only area of entertainment. These people are talking from first hand experience.
Chill ok? These countries are cheap in comparison to the west, I’m very clear about this.
These countries don’t bankroll lazy people to not work. That’s why they are cheaper to live in.
I know you are pronouncing it correctly...But it hurts lol
