@@RetireandGo Something puzzles me about your health care costs in the U.S. As a military veteran, you should be eligible for V.A. health care. And that's dirt cheap. I paid $15 per visit to my V.A. outpatient clinic, $50 for a specialist visit at the V.A. hospital, and $150 for hospital inpatient care. Would you have access to the same care at the same costs in Hawaii?

Dear Chris, your quest of inspirtion to all of us dreaming of retireing in SE Asia has given me so much hope. I''m already mentally prepared as I lived in Krabi for a year in my younger days as an AFS student and I am able to speak a respectable amount of the native toungue as well as understand the culture and the blessings available for those willing to see and feel the incredible differences from the west. I hope to meet you some day... I forsee my first investment in Pattaya in condo real estate. hugs from a sister gen Xer

You offer a lot of richness in your channel. I completely agree with you. Those factors also motivated to take BOLD action. I have a contract with reality. I chose geo arbitrage and to love myself in the midst of so much upheaval on the way. I ❤️my life as a SE Asian slow traveler. I am visiting SF for a brief time now and a cup of coffee, one poached egg and a few slices of fruit was $32. It’s insane. People don’t see what’s coming. There’s a great channel “clear value tax” where the CPA says exactly what you do. I have prepared. I set the table for my feast of life with peace and not chaos and denial. 🙏🏼

Working 12 hours a day in Boise and the value of the dollar not able to keep up with inflation. I better enjoy my 52 years old self now and in South East Asia. Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia or Vietnam are on my list. $7 steaks and $1 boba coffee tea and $3 chicken kebabs. Yuuumy and good value. Mahalo

Regarding fears of no health cover while abroad. Interestingly, I believe the reduction in vocational and financial stress, a non-western diet, active lifestyle, will improve your lifespan and health outcomes in which you will not need the expenses of health interventions and medication. Perhaps when you break a hip or something when you're in your 70's you could fly back home to curl up and die but you're getting a chance to really live for 20 years beforehand so you won't feel like you need to defer death and die longer (rather than live longer).

Maybe learn some simple Thai phrases...the Thai people really like when they hear you attempting their language. Also, step outside of your taste buds and try more Thai dishes. They are phenomenal. Take a Thai cooking class. Its amazing. Korp kum krup ! Enjoy. Keep up the travels.

Wise words Chris. National Debt is insidious and even negatively affects countries that are fiscally responsible. For example in 2011 Switzerland attempted to devalue its own currency in order to remain competitive with the depreciation of the Euro. It worked for a few years… the Swiss Franc is now so strong vs the Euro they may need to do it again! There is a reason Gold is skyrocketing in the last 25 years. National Debt.

Great video ! Can I suggest you look at the benner cycle and be careful with possible meltdown in stock market worldwide in 2026, likely triggered by US debt crisis or China blockading Taiwan . If possible , watch for signs and liquidate and buy back at 35% to 40% lower as all big crisis. Then you can reap the upside as the markets recover and go to all time high again.

    1. Tax. I am taxed 45% in my country.
    2. Cost of living. I get ahead then boom behind again. Food is out of control expensive and I am eating chicken not steaks etc.
    3. I am a business owner ecomm and in my country they just banned social media for under 16s. This likely means all citizens having to log in through the government to use social media.
Both parties are in favor of internet restrictions and greater control. They tried to ban cash several times, they just recently tried to being in UK style laws that would jail people for tweets, comments and posts.

Chris, have you studied Bitcoin? There's a big spiritual aspect to it which I believe would appeal to you.

@@RetireandGo I study Bitcoin and have been interviewed about its spiritual nature, however I choose to not talk about my financial life ... unless I become a nomadic vlogger like you!

Aloha, fellow Hawaii Kamaaina retiree. This is another great post. I could not agree more with you about the cost of living. How was it returning home this holiday? Was there any sticker shock?
Peter Zeihan just did an excellent TH-cam post on the future of AI. It provides excellent insight into the issue and its direction. It seems we will have a few more years before things get really interesting.

A few years ago, I realized that I saw the future of A.I. . Had an idea of how to implement it in the medical field. Accpeted a position at Stanford Medical Center, hoping to find others who might be interested in developing a model for streamlining patient care. This was five years ago. Everybody thought I was crazy. I pretty much gave up. Amazing how things have changed.
    Keep up the great work,
    A hui hou

Interesting viewpoint on the impact of your country’s debt on the economy. So when you say you cut your income in half, does that mean your current dividend income is actually twice what you report to your viewers/on this channel in anticipation of future dividend cuts due to ramifications of the debt? I didn’t quite understand that comment.
I’m new to your channel and I find your content entertaining even though I may not be your target audience. I enjoy your messaging and breaking it up by showing us the food you’re eating.

      Great question
I’m planning covering all expenses with 2030s dividend income which will be more than today for sure :-)
      I’m

I think he meant that he is planning for a worst case of only having half as much he would otherwise expect?
