  • The purpose of this video is to walk you through what Heidegger says about the title of the book in a way that makes the rest of the book easier for you to understand.
    Here is a PDF scan of the images I drew during the exposition, in case you'd like to refer to them or see them more clearly than you do on camera. drive.google.com/file/d/1hYar...

    Thanks Michael - your insights into Heidegger are really helpful - I have been studying being and time and the question concerning technology for a year now and how it incorporates a new way of thinking. am about to start on this one. Trying to articulate these findings to other people is hard - what you provide here is truly valuable. I also like the fact that you took the galatians quote at the end from the King James Bible. So much insight into being has been lost from the church in England because we no longer use this version

    Thank you so much for this, I now feel I can read with a little more confidence. Really excited to make my way through this and the other books you mentioned.

    Having done est training I am beginning to see that Erhard bought forth a new way of Being and Knowing via listening and speaking. I see the same with your sharing of Heidegger. Never got Heidegger before but can see his brilliance from your sharings. Thanks Michael

    Amazing. Been following your content on and off for 18 months. Reading your book bit by bit at the moment too. This was one of your most succinct explanations I’ve heard. Thanks. And hi from Essex, UK.

    Beyng is also Kehre and gelassenheit, a kind of soothening the coarseness of event by discovering new ways of thinking of itself by Dasein.

    Using the verse from Galatians (I Have Been Crucified with Christ and I no Longer Live, but Christ Lives in me) was really an excellent way to clear a path for the understanding of the qualitative shift in thinking/being that Heidegger is trying to get in terms of the "appropriating event". I've not considered making this connection before and this insight really struck me. I've been thinking about it (or better yet its been thinking me) since I came across your video yesterday. Really appreciate it!

    Love what you are doing, brother; that kind of detail with the words; appear to matter greatly, and the approach of thinking through the words chosen is a great approach, Much Thanks,

      sorry to hear, the work lost, it is hard to reproduce such initial passion, inspiration, in thought...

    • @danielclark4780
      @danielclark4780 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I find myself losing myself as you go on, I pause, I reflect back; Either, upon the text, or things in general outside the text; Cherishing such thoughtful thinking, and both desiring and knowing the importance [to move] slowly, a pondering and cherishing, thoughtful thinking, that arrives only through a gifting that is a blessing

      ...More like [as] a Cherishing that [is] a Sheltering bringing forth, Peace and Joy, and much needed life,
      And [one final thought?] the poiesis of the one translation over the other I believe is clearly seen... And I ask forgiveness for my intrusion here,

    Hi Michael. I just published an experimental video applying Patristic Orthodox Theology to section 2 of chapter 1 (Prospect) of "Contributions". It's titled Neo-Patristic Synthesis of Heidegger's "Contributions to Philosophy of the Event" (close reading).
    Would love to hear what you think and/or potentially have you on my podcast to discuss this book (not necessarily from an Orthodox perspective).
    Thank you sir!

    The more of your stuff I watch the more I think that Heidegger's thinking is essentially Heraclitean... do you think this is a fair assessment?

    • @millerman
      @millerman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heidegger does write about Heraclitus with great sensitivity in several places, for instance in this book ndpr.nd.edu/reviews/heraclitus-the-inception-of-occidental-thinking-and-logic-heraclituss-doctrine-of-the-logos/ but I encourage you to elaborate on what you mean by essentially Heraclitean thinking and why you think Heidegger's is that. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

    ...and the destruction of the genuine relation to words... What might be being said, .....

    • @Everoverflowing
      @Everoverflowing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The words just come..... To be a warrior of existence - or whatever one shall be..... To help existence..... What a danger I have just stumbled upon - the word warrior - is out there in a negative tone To be a battler for existence - and beyond….. What am I into? What am I doing? And what am I doing it for?

    • @danielclark4780

      possibly thought is rarely capable of being understood when put into words, thought that is of [daseins] being and then there being how and even then, [Interpreting]

      @@danielclark4780 And then there is the question How we see value, What value is Thinking, Being, [Dasein], Is it needful is it necessary, Can we do without it.. Might there be, value, Do we need it, Is there a value in dasein's being-in 'anticipatory resoluteness' that arises in Being [dasein],
