    I’ve had all the big trucks with diesels, and now I just bought a brand new 2018 Colorado diesel. I absolutely love this truck! It’s perfect for me. Great mileage on this baby d max. Super comfortable inside and everything is laid out nice. I love the apple car play and having 4 g WiFi on board. I havnt towed yet, but I’m sure it will do just fine. Most of all, I really love the motor and transmission. Plenty of pep and the torque is very smooth. I can’t wait to see what the aftermarket world comes up with. Bottom line, GM knocked it out of the park with this truck.

    I drive a 2012 Ram Hemi and I have to admit that the GM group is seriously making the nicest, well-thought out, easy to own, likeable trucks right now. It really will take a game changer like the aluminum F150 to outshine the current truck market.
    The whole bankruptcy/edge of ruin scandal must've lit a fire under their asses

    I have a couple corrections for you. First of all the four cyl is NOT available "across the board" in all trim levels, only in the Ext Cabs! The big plastic covers on the engines are not for heat dissipation, but sound suppression! Along with that big black bow type thing built into the air intake, that is basically a muffler! That reduces the intake roar at full throttle! The metal covering over the exhaust manifold, that is actually built into the head actually covers a catalytic converter, that is bolted right up to the exhaust manifold to get as hot as possible to work better! That is why that heat shields is there! Now I've owned a 2016 Colorado Z71,4x4, V6 Ext Cab now for 14 months and we're are very satisfied! It is a great truck that is much sportier and nimble compared to the Silverado's we've owned over the years. That actually tows the same travel trailer weight as the Silverado did and just about as well! As far as power goes? It's close, but the Silverado has more tq, but it also weighs about 1,000 more than the same type, Ext Cab Z71, but empty it's actually quicker and get better mileage, towing and empty! It also holds almost the same load capacity! All in all a great truck! I am looking forward to trading up for a ZR2, by the end of the year! I would like another Ext Cab ZR2, but I'm not sure if I want a diesel or not! I'll have to drive one to be sure! Cause the ZR2 does burn more gas due to the bigger tires and higher stance.

    Thinking about trading in my 2008 dodge ram 3.7 v6 single cab for one of these eventually do to the upshifting in the transmisson on the dodge. This truck just seams more comfortable. If any one knows do u think there would be near around the same driver leg room in this truck for the crew cab compared to the single cab dodge full size truck I'm use to. I'm 6'5 so I need a little arm and leg room. Thanks if u answer back 😊👍

      ***** GM uses an Isuzu diesel, Japanese engineering baby, at least it will have a good engine, too bad the rest of that pussy so called RECALLED truck of the year will fall apart LMAO, has GM fixed the seats that could come loose? how about the recall for leaking front calipers?, have they surpassed the Tacoma sales yet? lmao

    • @jx906
      @jx906 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      guy proulx Please enlighten us ALL where those recalls can be found, otherwise STFU. Has Toyota finished the re-recall on the TAKATA airbags? What about the sludging issues with their engines? What's going to happen with the 2016 3.5L Tacoma engine and it's issues? Is it still going to overheat and melt the rear main seal? What about sludge in THAT engine?

    You nailed when you said the bar is low. GM really dropped the ball by putting a CHEAP HARD PLASTIC INTERIOR in the Colorado. Why is there no leather option in the Z-71? Why can't I get auto 4WD mode? I don't want a Canyon. I want a Colorado with all the features! How can GM justify a rental car interior in a near $40K truck!!!!

    I have an 06 Colorado, extended cab, back seats are small as hell. Honestly if you have an extended cab it might as well be for carrying groceries or some tools, or if you have kids who can sit on a seat and not a baby seat. I saw this 2015 Colorado, and it has everything you'd want and more in a mid size truck. Obviously I don't plan on towing anything unless I move or go about with friends. 4x4 ltz, crew cab for space in the back for when you have new borns. It's a great truck, I don't understand why people bash on this truck, maybe it's because it has plastic material used for the interior? I don't know, I guess that's your average Toyota and ford driver for you.

  • @justonp1981
    @justonp1981 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Funny but the Ford Ranger over seas has stayed over seas because there is such a small market for a midsize truck this big. The old Chevy S-10, GMC Sonoma, and the Ford Ranger in the Mid 90's were the perfect size. The only change I would have made to them is a little more leg room in the single cabs and an extended cab that had as much leg room as a full size extended cab. No Crew cab necessary.

      Diesel is more expensive, but will give you more torque to tow with. If you are just going to use it as a driving around town truck, then gas may be better. If you need to tow, then diesel is good for you.

      All I understand is its built in thailand whom also do a version with Chevy badged components etc.
      This is the Duramax2 engine. The USA will get this engine in 2016.

    • @guyproulx1660
      @guyproulx1660 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DarKasH69 BiKeTrucK the reason i hate Chevy is because my wife bought a lemon and the dealership kept giving us the runaround and were doing everything in their power not to honor the warranty, if i can bash them enough to make them lose sales i'm happy, for your information Toyota is always #1 in reliability ratings year after year and have the best resale in the business, the only thing reliable in a colorado is the diesel engine because it's engineered by the Japanese, the rest is unreliable junk

    I went to the 2015 Edmonton Motor show yesterday just to get a glimpse of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma. I like the stance of the truck, but, but the frame is still C channel and the rear wheels are still drum brakes. That's why when I saw it in the video, the bed really shakes during offroading. There's no doubt the Colorado is more handsome, well designed and rigid. The interior of the Colorado looks more refined than the Tacoma that looks like it's been copied from the Sienna minivan. My conclusion between 2015 Colorado and 2016 Tacoma is that the Colorado had value for money because of it's ultra stregnth fully boxed frame and all wheels disc brakes. But because Tacoma had the largest share of fanatics and die hards, this is something that the Chevy people will gonna work hard for.

    • @guyproulx1660
      @guyproulx1660 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      LJ there's a reason HD trucks use a c-channel frames and not a box frame, the reason they use drums is because you don't want mud on your discs when offroading, the colorado and canyon with their pussy skirts are not getting anywhere offroad with that clearance and would have rear brake problems if they removed the skirt and went mudding, there's a reason Tacoma has the highest resale in the automotive industry

    • @jx906
      @jx906 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      guy proulx Why doesn't the Tacoma use drum brakes all around then? Because you are full of shit, that's why!

      ***** have you ever seen a truck with drums all around? lol at least it has 2 drums, the RECALLARADO has discs all around, imagine that in 2 feet of mud, your brakes will be all fucked, at least the Tacoma will still have brakes in the rear if the discs in the front get damaged, i wish you would come down here and challenge me offroad, it would make a great video for youtube, an '03 Tundra pulling a brand new POS back to the shop LOL

    As far as interiors, Toyota and Nissan are still better with their heavier plastics and rubber. Both Toyota and Nissan also have more functional beds, with their tie-down systems, and spray-in liners (Nissan). It will be a challenge for GM to compete, unless they drop the price tag.

    If I knew this truck was going to be as reliable as a Tacoma, I'd put money on a V6 Colorado 4-door w/ 5.5' bed right now. However, I simply do not believe this will match the Tacoma's bulletproof reliability.

    • @KevinSmith-qi5yn
      @KevinSmith-qi5yn 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Trucks in general tend to be bulletproof. Trucks have an intended 1st ownership length of 10~20 years which is about twice that of a car. I think most truck owners would not want a truck with a car engine for the reason of reliability.

    • @09FordFX4
      @09FordFX4 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin Smith its not all about the motor. GM has great motors no doubt, but if the rest of the truck falls apart around that engine, its no good, is it?

    • @splewy

      Reliability isn't really the concern it was two decades ago, or even a decade ago. Nobody really makes junk cars anymore.

    • @09FordFX4
      @09FordFX4 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      lots of people make junk cars. Transmissions that fail, engines that fail, electronics that fail.... only difference today is you cant fix half the shit yourself.
      an old straight 6 ford will easily outlast any new vehicle. and you can work on it yourself.
      new vehicles suck.

    • @a.t1313
      @a.t1313 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      People who say G.M. trucks are unreliable are just spreading B.S. My 2006 Canyon with 137,000 miles runs perfect
      gets 20 MPG and doesn't use oil. Frame is rust free, suspension is good and trans shifts properly. I think it could go
      another 137,000 easily, but these new trucks will make it hard not to upgrade.

    The bar is not set high in the segment? These trucks might pass Tacoma in engine specs and maybe some creature comforts. But the Tacoma is still the best. These trucks will be here and gone and my Tacoma will still be going. So what is the bar exactly? Tacoma has the important ones. Durability. Reliable. Tacomas don't feel like they have 100,000 miles on them at 30000 miles haha.

      patriots603 I have a friend has a 2005 Tacoma...w/ 220,000 miles on it. No major issues ...only wear and tear...Feels brand new..drives brand new...I remember when I drove the Tacoma w/ only 120 miles on it... still drives the same...still start up every time..even -25 below. My neighbor use to have the previous Colorado..sold it after 1 yrs...didn't start 3x in 1 yr...all 3x's had to be towed back to dealership for repairs.
      Govt' Motors should cease selling any type of vehicles and get into the Union business w/ Barrack.

      James Wisrik so what part of completely redesigned truck is confusing for you? and does Chevy Malibu,Cruze and then the Impala -all car of the year ring a bell?? I have a Tacoma too..2002 w/300k, plan to keep it as a work truck when I get a Colorado.And dont tell me it will be towing the Colorado,Chevy has increased their quality greatly in the last few years,check out Consumer Reports..they have them much higher than they used to be.You're so down on GM,look at Cadillac and Buick.I've read reviews having new Caddys better than BMW's

      mrlafayette1964 its all a conspiracy. These "official" reviewers always pump up the automaker who is struggling. Everyone has their preference. But sometimes its hard to get away from your reputation. I know Toyota lasts forever so that's where my allegiance lies.

      When the GM is own by the Union...and their next CEO is Barrack...the truth is hidden. GM does not have to pay $50,000,000,000 in taxes..and Barrack lost $20,000,000,000 when they sold the company stock. NOW "NEW GM" is trying to get all the recalls thrown out of court...the reason...it was "OLD GM" fault.... love it...OBAMA politics.

    40 Grand for a Z71 fairly loaded, MSRP. Right now with all the discounts (new '15's coming), you can buy a '14 EB F150 King Ranch or Platinum for the same money. Once they are gone all bets are off though. The '15 F150's are horrifically over priced. The same trucks are in the 60's !!!
