I miss the Ford Ranger. They need to bring it back to the states. It would sell well here because there are still people that want them. What Ford doesn't know is that not everyone wants a big unwieldy f-150.
I enjoy my f150 and will probably own it for a long time. I couldn't agree more that Ford should bring the ranger back and put the 2.7 ecoboost in it. Do I see this happening? Probably not, and rightfully so. They're more concerned with keeping the f150 the #1 seller in the U.S.
They took the Ford Ranger off the market cause Toyota Tacoma put it out of business. The Ranger was ok but it just wasnt on the same level as the Tacoma. This guy is gettin paid for advertising this new trucks for Chevy and GMC. You can tell hes not a truck guy. Tacoma is the best sellin and most dependable truck made! Oh i forgot to mention the Tacoma has the best resale value too!!
You can find these in dealerships all across southern CA now. The dealers seem to think they can get $39,000 for a fully loaded Z71 Colorado and $44,000 for a comparable Canyon. Their insane pricing is going to sink these trucks. The same two trucks have been siting at my local dealerships for 3 weeks now with no buyers. The MSRP for the Colorado and Canyon when you go on the website is around $35,000 and $37,000. The dealerships think they can mark up the price because they are new trucks. Big mistake imo.
I got my Canyon for $35.7k @ 1.94%. I love the thing. Such a step up from my '04 Colorado LS and I loved that for the past 10 years. Also, I did the inflation on the sticker price of my '04, came out higher than my new truck
Way over priced, GM will eventually need another bail out ...lol I would never a buy a truck with square wheel wells....just plain ugly. They are getting rid of the chrome bumpers, that's an improvement.
got the 4c and am totally satisfied. IDC if he says theres only a few thousand dollar difference for 1mpg better, that 1mpg and few thousand really meant a lot to me. granted, my work pays for my gas but its nice to know whenever I fill up it wont hurt so much.
Damn! Thanks for catching that. I was referring to Chevy's MyLink infotainment system, which is very good. Uconnect is from Chrysler. Too many names to keep track of.
I use to own a colorado before my current truck and I'm glad to hear they refined the truck. My truck would leak when it would rain and the interior had very cheap and flimsy plastics but really those were my only complaints. These new trucks needed to compete with the bread and butter of nissan and toyota by offering trucks that can beat them on every aspect quality, performance, and economy. I feel that these 2 new trucks will really shape up the midsize segment and bring some competetion back.
Excellent review, they guy knows his stuff. Judging from many auto bloggers, these are better than their predecessors. Now will they hold up in terms of reliability? The old ones were plagued with many issues.
I really enjoyed this review; very well-done. You've pointed out all of my thoughts on this vehicle, notably price and price difference from the full-size pick-ups. Really nice to hear that the height is around the same; something I really like having, especially in the city. Love the commentary of the V6. I've driven a Traverse before, and coming after a similarly sized Honda with their 6 cylinder, which is far more impressive in every way, I was pretty underwhelmed with the response in the Traverse, so it was so validating to hear what you had to say about it. Solid attempt from GM for a change; a few more features for the price would be nice, and that diesel option is intriguing.
This is the best review that i have seem, very direct to the main point of the truck, good view about the car, pricing, truck business, that help a lot who have not onw a truck before. A+++
"Chevy's UConnect System.." I know what you meant but this is no UConnect. As an owner of a 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit, I can assure you the UConnect is amazing. Great video, thanks for the content!
I feel like comparing this pickup to the Tacoma and Frontier is a bit like comparing apples to oranges. When GM builds a pickup they are designed more for comfort and gas mileage numbers, whereas the Japanese models are built as more simplistic, rugged off-road ready rigs. The ground clearance, stick shift transmission, simple uncomplicated dashboard, and differential lock is why I'd take a Tacoma over a Colorado any day. But I'm glad to see that GM is trying.
This time around I like the Colorado over the Canyon. I'm glad GM decided to stick with this segment of trucks. This reviewer just made my decision harder, I like the asthetics and features of the Ram 1500 Diesel but also like the manuverabilty of the Colorado will wait for the Duramax Diesel and see what it's about..
The whole truck market sucks. I can't get a GOOD looking truck with a powerful v6 or small v8, no carpet, no power windows or locks, a 5 speed manual trans., a radio/cd player without all the other electronic bs, at a decent price, nobody makes one.
i'm hoping mid to upper 20's mpg. The Ram half ton diesel if I'm not mistaken gets around 26mpg highway with their 3.0L V6. The Duramax in the Colorado/Canyon is a 2.8L (if mind serves me right) 4cylinder.
As my picture shows I currently drive a jacked up GMC Sierra. I'm not a fan of small trucks, but if I had to buy a new truck I wouldn't mind driving either the Canyon or Colorado. I can't wait to see these trucks lifted. If Chevy actually produces the concept ZR2 Diesel model I would seriously consider selling my truck.
My feeling on these trucks is the GM wants to, over time, step down the size of trucks, but doing something the size of the old S-10 would be a non-starter right off. But something the size of the Dakota with the level of refinement and work put in the new Colorado and Canyon, would certainly play a lot better. Either way, in due time we could see actually Compact trucks again. Maybe nothing as small as the old Chevy Luv, but the S-10? I think so, in maybe 10 years.
Clearly GM did something right because the colorado already won the 2015 truck of the year, far as I know, no mid size truck has done that until now. I have a 08 silverado and it made me almost wanna trade it in for this thing I'm tired of having to park far lol, but I'd rather see a small 4L V8 in this thing or like he said wait for that duramax engine that'll be something nice, I'm still a silverado sierra fan though
JmFLCA1 The 5.3L LS engine will most likely end up in the Colorado and Canyon, just as it did in the previous generation Colorado. What a beast that truck was!
***** how can he have had enough when he says he's gonna miss his tacoma, can't argue with that lol, bells and whistles and chrome won't get you home, it won't take long before he regrets his purchase lol, it's gonna be hard for him to go back to a tacoma because his colorado won't be worth anything after just a few short years lol
Hopefully the Colorado and Canyon will force Toyota and Nissan to finally update their trucks. The Tacoma needed competition for a long time, and I think these blows it out of the water. I hope they sell well.
Sa the Canyon/Colorado has no option for sunroof as an option but the Sierra/silverado does. But the pricing isn't there either can buy a Silverado for the price of a loaded Canyon/Colorado. But when the diesel hits it will sell very well.
something that i have always thought was hilarious was that when the tacoma dominated the mid-sized truck segment, the US manufactures and US truck fans were like "oh, that just clearly means no one wants a mid-sized truck anymore" which is sooooooo not true. now ford needs to bring back the ranger here and dodge the dakota
Why is the front bumper missing the bottom skirt on the GMC at 8:30, likely because it was torn off. (If the skirt is removable then that is a pain in the arse and looks like trash without out it) Learn to design a front bumper like a Tacoma and give the wind engineers a vacation, nobody cares about a cup of fuel the windskirt saves. Makes me laugh when he says these trucks are made for the person who wants to hit the beach and the trails. Literally that is true with a bumper that low. Nice El-Camino though. Tacoma will walk these El Camino's all day off road. They are a nice car with a box, lots of cars have better inside features and fuel mileage than a Tacoma. I needed a truck so I bought a Tacoma, actually have two of them now, both 2015's enough said.
***** looks to me like americans are the ones who are lazy cause the U.S is the most obese nation in the world lmao, americans can't even pick their own fruits and vegetables, they get Mexicans to do it lol
***** Have you seen the actual dyno results of the Colorado vs Tacoma. Only 209FT-Lbs of torque actually makes it to the ground in the Colorado at 4050RPM. They dyno tested the Tacoma and it gets 235Ft-Lbs to the ground at 3550RPM That's Toyota engineering for you. The older the Colorado gets the more sht will just keep coming out of it. HP was 227@6200 and 194@5000 for the Colorado and Tacoma respectively. But it takes an extra 1200RPM to gain that 33HP. That's why the Tacoma beats its ass in the 1/4 mile. More torque and HP at lower RPMs in a lighter truck geared for fun with throttle response that leaves Colorado in the dust
Good review. I got a chance to sit in a Colorado and while the interior looks nice, as soon as you touch something you find it's rental car like cheap plastic. Very disappointed in an otherwise good truck. Also, what's with that massive plastic air dam in the front? Sure wasn't there on the car show models.
The Tacoma is a great truck no doubt....but after driving all of the little trucks and looking at the numbers like how towing ride and cost ..I think most folks will agree the gmc is a he better choice
I like these trucks but...I can get so many discounts on a full size truck like the Ram 1500 Express that comes well equipped with a Hemi and 4 wheel drive for 26-27k. Why would I pay the same price for a less capable truck? Yes I know these truck start a 20k but if you want a 4x4 with towing you need the v6 and the prices are about the same as the Ram 1500. Kinda sums up why Ford and Ram don't make mid sized trucks anymore.
Chevy has their back against the wall and the Colorado is a nice result of that. I've been shopping around for a new truck and the Colorado is better in every way than the Tacoma or the frontier. Too bad ford does not have something to compare. I just don't need or want a huge truck.
guy proulx Gm trucks are more reliable than any Toyota truck, especially under severe conditions. Toyota trucks are flimsy and fall apart after just weeks of hard work use. That's why you see them all polished up and fancified for the douches that take them into the city for work. How many Toyota trucks are sold as fleet vehicles? NONE! No one would use a Tacoma or a Tundra in a fleet, too weak and flimsy! That's why their resale value is high; all the domestics flood the fleet markets. The Tacoma and Tundra are boutique trucks, for posers and douches.
guy proulx Looks like the Toyota crowd is getting their soiled panties in a bunch, and you're their troll leader! What's it like getting GM bitch slapped? I see plenty of Toyotas in the junkyard, is that what you mean by the "off the beaten path"? The only off road Toyotas see is the last trip to the back of the junk yard...LOL!
***** funny how there are no videos of GM'S offroading but there are tons of tacoma videos, the GM dealer still has the same 2 on their lot lol, nobody around here wants these pussy mall crawlers lmao, by the way, do you know the international symbol for a chevy, a picture of someone hitch hiking lmao
Life in the mid size truck segment? What is he on taco's sell like crazy! Maybe if they step up there game a bit and make a truck that will go over 100k miles without blowing up or smoking on start up they will sell some .
Yup $35k for a nicely loaded Z71 is too much. That's why I'm happy with my 2009 model loaded Z71 for $20k with low milage. While this new model looks fresh, it still looks like any other work trucks out there.
This truck has a stupid console shift for some unknown reason? The problem is a 2006 Colorado or a 2004 Toyota Tacoma have less blind spots and better seating than this new truck. What is wrong with GM ... using the 1500 frame is not fresh, that is using an existing frame to manufacture on the cheap. This could of been a great truck, but the Metrosexuals were put in charge of the frilly useless crap.
4G/LTE is a selling point on pickup trucks ? Seriously ? At least you mentioned the 2.8 liter Duramax diesel, but if everyone waits for it. then General Motors will have some trouble selling these "mid sized".
Like this guy said you can easily find great deals on full size trucks nowadays since theyve become so much more popular. Why would most people shell out almost as much money for a smaller truck? I can go buy a year old ford chevy or dodge full size for that amount.
So, let me get this straight. The Silverado is considered by many car people as a problem in the Chevy lineup. It's proven to have held them back compared to the competition. This is what they decided to model the new Colorado after? That has me scratching my head. What the?
john edwards Track record of reliability. Its not the car that's helped Chevy believe it or not. In 2014 it was one of the most recalled vehicles out there. Its gotten more consumer complaints then the competition and has the worst suspension in it's class. Granted, the last couple years Chevy has done a serious remodeling inside and out so we'll see.
Silverado/sierra has a very good track record for reliability. Thats why they have such good resale value. Ive seen many with over 300k. More silverado sierra tahoe Yukon suburban escalade on the road then anything else. Still gm trucks from 80's 90s 2000s still going strong. So best selling platform in history. Yea its helped gm and everybody who ever bought or borrowed one.
john edwards I'm 47 years old and have known plenty of people who have told me that there 1500 5.3 liter trucks have been a money pit to own for the long haul. Go on you tube and type in "COMMON PROBLEMS WITH CHEVY SILVERADO TRUCKS" CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 PROBLEMS (Doctor D907) this guy is a serious mechanic and hits the nail on the head.
I have seen 100's of these trucks with over 300k. I have owned several.damn good engines. thats why they pull them from wrecked trucks for drag racing especially the 6.0.
i love the trucks but why did gm release them for testing in california. Texas is the place to be San Marcos Texas is the fastest growing city in America so basicly california sucks as a place to release a truck
I will be happy when new trucks will give you a option to have a manual transmission..so sick of this 6 speed auto shit with the ECO functions..my 2013 Ram has gave me nothing but problems...let trucks be trucks again, stop all the effort to make them cars. Give me real 4wd, Locking diffs front AND rear and a manual gear box.
guy proulx Subjectively, I guess. I hate how GM is screwing over my favorite brand, Chevy. Plus those other brands under it. Wish someone else could pry away from them and return to its glorious form.
That 2.8 duramax is going to be awesome.
And that's how you do a proper review, gentlemen! Good job, AutoGuide. Better than those Fast Lane Car duds. LOL
Cutting edge technology, diesel power, stunning new looks, capable work and off-road abilities! I love these new GM twins!
I miss the Ford Ranger. They need to bring it back to the states. It would sell well here because there are still people that want them. What Ford doesn't know is that not everyone wants a big unwieldy f-150.

Take your shitty ford out of this video ford trucks sucks dick just like their transmission
Joey Bevino i agree 100%

what annual ROI?
Way over priced, GM will eventually need another bail out ...lol I would never a buy a truck with square wheel wells....just plain ugly. They are getting rid of the chrome bumpers, that's an improvement.
Well, you are titled to your own opinion
kodiak i agree, bailout coming soon at a GM dealership near you lol
got the 4c and am totally satisfied. IDC if he says theres only a few thousand dollar difference for 1mpg better, that 1mpg and few thousand really meant a lot to me. granted, my work pays for my gas but its nice to know whenever I fill up it wont hurt so much.
4:20 MyLink not Uconnect.
Damn! Thanks for catching that. I was referring to Chevy's MyLink infotainment system, which is very good. Uconnect is from Chrysler. Too many names to keep track of.
Toyota guys n denial that they can't help but love Chevy
Toyotas are still better 2020

Great review, great reviewer
Nice review Mr. Elmer!!!

Excellent review....but i still find myself in love with the monster Sierra Denali
Great review, many thanks for having this Chevy on AutoGuide. Very nNice presentation by a savvy lovin' trucks guy!
This guy does the best reviews
This guy does great reviews.
This is the best review that i have seem, very direct to the main point of the truck, good view about the car, pricing, truck business, that help a lot who have not onw a truck before. A+++
What is the first song? Around 1:25
Great review!
Excellent review! Very objective yet entertaining
I have a question! Does the truck have a smooth quiet engine?
Nice review Stephen, one question: which one do you like better the Colorado or the Canyon?
I'd go for the Canyon. More money sure, but a better interior layout and better looks IMO.
FINALLY! A badass review on these trucks! Thank you!
Nice review I might consider getting one of these
Whats the music from 59 sec - 1:37 ?
I'll wait for the diesel . Good to see many good reviews for this truck.
This guy is their best reviewer
Im going to wait for the diesel. Good video
Someone plz reply does the gps require u to talk to someone or can you itself type in addresses
"Chevy's UConnect System.." I know what you meant but this is no UConnect. As an owner of a 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit, I can assure you the UConnect is amazing. Great video, thanks for the content!
Yep. Uconnect is great, and Chevy doesn't have it. I was referring to MyLink. Stupid slip of the tongue. Thanks for watching!
Saving up for the diesel model
I feel like comparing this pickup to the Tacoma and Frontier is a bit like comparing apples to oranges. When GM builds a pickup they are designed more for comfort and gas mileage numbers, whereas the Japanese models are built as more simplistic, rugged off-road ready rigs. The ground clearance, stick shift transmission, simple uncomplicated dashboard, and differential lock is why I'd take a Tacoma over a Colorado any day. But I'm glad to see that GM is trying.
Is it available in a manual transmission?
Only in the base model 4cyl.
That colorado loooks sweet
no regular cab ?
Glad to see a better product in the small truck market. Good job GMC.
i;m sure it will smoke a tacoma at offroading or reliability or resale value lol, fail
guy proulx Such butthurt...you make me sad.
***** what bs, all true facts except that it will smoke a tacoma offroad, i was just being sarcastic lol
Always bought and loved Toyotas until my employer had a supplier discount for me. They can keep their Colorado. I'm back in a Tacoma 4x4.
can't say i blame you, i feel the same way
I just wonder what the sticker shock on the new diesel will be... If it's anything like the full-size trucks it will be significant.
Great review
Very helpful great review. Thanks.
The whole truck market sucks. I can't get a GOOD looking truck with a powerful v6 or small v8, no carpet, no power windows or locks, a 5 speed manual trans., a radio/cd player without all the other electronic bs, at a decent price, nobody makes one.
great review thank you!
These new Chevrolet Colorados are so cool and well built, my dad made me get a Ford focus instead, I'm so bummed.
what u think the duramax diesel will get on these trucks mpg ???
i'm hoping mid to upper 20's mpg.
If Chevy actually produces the concept ZR2 Diesel model I would seriously consider selling my truck.
great review
Good review.
What's his name? good reviewer.
wait until the diesel comes out then this will be solid buy.
Tacoma & Frontier haven't changed in 10yrs bc they are rock solid. They need a refresh to improve mpg bc full size trucks get just as good mpgs now.
I think so, in maybe 10 years.
aww there so cute i like how the canyon looks like a baby sierra
That was excellent.
Awesome review. Thanks,
Clearly GM did something right because the colorado already won the 2015 truck of the year, far as I know, no mid size truck has done that until now. I have a 08 silverado and it made me almost wanna trade it in for this thing I'm tired of having to park far lol, but I'd rather see a small 4L V8 in this thing or like he said wait for that duramax engine that'll be something nice, I'm still a silverado sierra fan though
it won truck of the year and it was recalled before it hit the showroom floor lol, go figure
JmFLCA1 The 5.3L LS engine will most likely end up in the Colorado and Canyon, just as it did in the previous generation Colorado. What a beast that truck was!
***** if it was such a beast how come it got discontinued? and why don't we see them on the roads?
if they made the body out of aluminum it would be amazing
Can't wait to get the colorado in June when my tacoma lease is up going to miss the toyota but the chevy has more creature comforts
but you will be sacrificing reliability
guy proulx LOL! Another Toyota owner that's had enough. Way to go MrDjh66!
Motor trend truck of the year.
Ive been waiting... I've been in a 2002 s10 for awhile now.
great looking truck - hopefully its reliable as tacoma -
Hopefully the Colorado and Canyon will force Toyota and Nissan to finally update their trucks. The Tacoma needed competition for a long time, and I think these blows it out of the water. I hope they sell well.
V6 can't be had with a manual transmission, therefore I would choose the 4-cylinder.
Sa the Canyon/Colorado has no option for sunroof as an option but the Sierra/silverado does. But the pricing isn't there either can buy a Silverado for the price of a loaded Canyon/Colorado. But when the diesel hits it will sell very well.
No. The Colorado is not too big. Perfect size. And yes. There is a market for this truck. I will buy them allllllllllllllllll
something that i have always thought was hilarious was that when the tacoma dominated the mid-sized truck segment, the US manufactures and US truck fans were like "oh, that just clearly means no one wants a mid-sized truck anymore" which is sooooooo not true. now ford needs to bring back the ranger here and dodge the dakota
They should have stuck the 4.3 out of the fullsize in it. It's physically smaller and makes basically same hp and more torque as the 3.6 AND has dod.
I needed a truck so I bought a Tacoma, actually have two of them now, both 2015's enough said.
i was thinking of buying a colorado but then i woke up lol
guy proulx You fell asleep under the frame of your Tundra again? Get back to rustproofing and welding patch panels you lazy ass Canadian!
They dyno tested the Tacoma and it gets 235Ft-Lbs to the ground at 3550RPM
That's Toyota engineering for you.

+GMC Jae Same truck, different badge.
+Der Pinguin not really anymore. before they would have everything the same but the badge now it's different body styles not just a badge
Yup $35k for a nicely loaded Z71 is too much. That's why I'm happy with my 2009 model loaded Z71 for $20k with low milage. While this new model looks fresh, it still looks like any other work trucks out there.
Haha There's no way in hell he is ever using any of those bikes in the bed of that truck.
I prefer the look of the Chevy Colorado over that of the Holden Colorado.
Party in the front. Business in the back!
Buy one of these and go upside down. Maybe cost you $21k, next year it will cost $15. Value drop is terrible.
wait about 3 years they will be a dime a dozen lol
This guy is a great reviewer
honestly in my opinion. mid size trucks/pick ups. are more suitable in most asian countries. one reason is narrow roads =)
Like this guy said you can easily find great deals on full size trucks nowadays since theyve become so much more popular. Why would most people shell out almost as much money for a smaller truck? I can go buy a year old ford chevy or dodge full size for that amount.
or you buy a year old mid size for less than the year old 1/2 ton haha
Holy Shit. He finally cut his hair!!! If he can improve his appearance he's not a bad reviewer.
good ass review
So, let me get this straight. The Silverado is considered by many car people as a problem in the Chevy lineup. It's proven to have held them back compared to the competition. This is what they decided to model the new Colorado after? That has me scratching my head. What the?
how had it held them back? its the second best selling truck in the world. if you couple sierra/silverado its the best selling truck on the planet.
john edwards Track record of reliability.
What's better? Chevy Colorado or Jeep Wrangler?
i love the trucks but why did gm release them for testing in california. Texas is the place to be San Marcos Texas is the fastest growing city in America so basicly california sucks as a place to release a truck
This is the kind of truck people don't need but they will buy it anyways because they want a truck.
That's 90% of trucks in general pal
Two points:
-jeep has them"lifestyle" market locked down.
-why are all trucks so damn tall
Yes I hear you guy that's why I lease and get new every 3 years before they become money pits
Is there still a desire for small trucks? Yes... if a car maker in the states would actually make one again.
In 5 years the 2014 Tacoma will have much better resell value than the Colorado or canyon. Guaranteed.
I will be happy when new trucks will give you a option to have a manual transmission..so sick of this 6 speed auto shit with the ECO functions..my 2013 Ram has gave me nothing but problems...let trucks be trucks again, stop all the effort to make them cars. Give me real 4wd, Locking diffs front AND rear and a manual gear box.
get a tacoma, manuel 6 speed, you'll be amazed how much more reliable it is compared to a dodge
guy proulx that's like fetish isn't it: reliable but ugly
Marq Vince beauty is in the eye of the beholder, personally i think the Taco is much better looking truck than any other truck
guy proulx
Subjectively, I guess. I hate how GM is screwing over my favorite brand, Chevy. Plus those other brands under it. Wish someone else could pry away from them and return to its glorious form.
Marq Vince i don't know if you are old enough to remember what happened at the NUMMI plant in the 80's
I'm going to wait for the Diesel. If the truck is already getting 18/26 mpg the diesel will easily hit 24/32 ish numbers.
And why the hell don't they put center shift like this one in the new Sierra's and Silverado's
