I've definitely been shopping in the wrong places, looks like I should have been shopping in Louisiana lol! Great videos, keep up the great content brother!
I just tried floating an anchored trap about 2' under the surface in 10' of water... a 48" trap, so that's 4' off the bottom. Caught about 40 overnight using 1/2 power bar. A little too much trouble in the wind for me. What size net do you use? I hate catching so many little ones in my 1" net but don't catch near as many in my 1 /2" net. I fish on a private 850 acre lake so I don't worry much about folks stealing my trap. I like trapping during the winter best because you don't have to worry about them dying on the bottom due to the thermocline.
Yes that's all correct. I haven't tried floating one, but it's same principle. Sound like you did ok. Think our mesh is 1- 1/4. All you can do is control the size with size mesh. Them little ones will go out of 1 -1/2.
I run nets in south Lousiana if that cheese is wet u can add Soybean mill or cow pellets to firm it up and try 2 bait bags on a 5 day set it seems to catch better down hear with 2 bags
I mix cotton seed mill with it to firm it up normally, but couldn't get any. We were just trying to use up some old cheese. We're going to compressed blocks in the future
You can catch fish on bottom or hanging them. Problem in July is with warmer water fish die quicker. I have fished wire nets in an it, but never in July. If I was gonna try, I'd probably fish them in 10-15 ft and try to find a little current. You could try hanging them, but I've never done that in the river. Maybe it's something I'll experiment with. I've mostly fished slat traps or hoop nets in the river
That's Great!! 5 wire nets is enough to keep you in fish year around. One of the cheapest, most effective ways to put fish in the Table for sure. God Bless you two with many more years on the water and Thanks for watching!!
Had soft to your wife going fishing with you all right should say check in nets you’re completely right find a woman that can enjoy the outdoors and then enjoy the things that you like doing is the only way to go
I definitely understand that. We normally edit out a lot of background because of that very issue. Really wish they would crack down on net thieves. I also drag for all my nets because of that.
Your not gonna catch a lot of 4-5 lb fish in them unless you adjust the flews I would think. As they come, about 3 lbs is about as big as we catch with most being around a pound, pound and half. Slat traps catch little bit bigger ones to me catching as big as 10 lbers. I've went to these wire nets recently, just because they weigh less.
@@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 thank ya. I was thinking about buying me some because I dont wanna mess with slat traps either. I'm gonna give them a try and see how I do.
That's just scrap cheese. They sell it at Nets and More or Memphis net and twine. You can also check with your local commercial fisherman. They will know where to find it!! The compressed blocks work good as well
@@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 so that cheese stinks real bad?? im guessing the compressed blocks dissolve slowly and the loose cheese travels faster.. Can i use that loose scrap cheese under the boat the same day if im using rod and reel?? it looks potent!

Yes sir, we fish for food. I'm gonna assume your maybe from a Northern state. Most Southern fisherman look at catfish as either a nuisance or food. Our waters are overpopulated with catfish. About 10% of the channel catfish in that lake are poor and under weight. That being said, we eat a lot of fish and we love those small catfish the best. They are perfectly legal to keep, so I'd like to look at it more like we're doing the lake a favor with population control!! Thanks for watching!!

I’m still catching big crappies as well. Me and the ole lady spent this past weekend out running lines and catching some slabs. We caught a limit of 12+ inches Friday and Saturday night along with a couple hundred pounds of catfish. I released 5 big cats over 50 as well. We had all the 5-20 pounders we wanted along with 153 crappies. We couldn’t get on the big crappies Sunday but we managed some 10 inchers. Love the vids man keep em coming and I’ll keep a watching here in north Bama and Ga.
Sounds like y'all on them big cats. We get on them some, but I do a lot of Crappie fishing now. We're gonna try to get several more different species videos out before hunting season. Maybe bream, bass, catfish, whatever we can find.
You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I have figured out though that country fried girls are expensive too though, lol. Every time you get a new Gun, Rod n reel, kayak, boat, they want them a new one too🤣. I can live with that though, spending time together, helps keep lawyers away!!!
Nothing, just cheese. I have mixed cotton seed meal with it before to thicken it. They like cotton seed meal too. However, I won't be buying anymore cheese when I run out this time, it's just too messy. The power blocks are the way to go. Their compressed cheese and grain. Their easy, not messy, and catch good
