Kid Icarus: Uprising [Game Concepts]

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 3 ก.ค. 2023
- Kid Icarus: Uprising was a jam-packed third-person shooter released early on in the 3DS's life cycle. In this video, I'll be introducing the concepts behind its creation.
Personally speaking... I'm really glad we were able to make this game. - เกม
Imagine being so trusted and respected by Iwata that he let you pick the Nintendo game you want to revive
I mean, they literally worked together at HAL, that's like being surprised Miyamoto and Yokoi were so trusted and trusted each other.
@ShinobiPhoenix-YT0 True, but even still, just cause you work with someone doesn't mean you trust them. It speaks volumes to let him choose as apposed to asking him for a specific series.
@@quesobuddy Says someone who doesn't work on successful projects with people then...
This is literally how the military works, let alone most team building exercises. Make people work on a project to make them understand each other and accomplishing things LITERALLY builds bonds and trust...
Sakurai and Iwata weren't just coworkers, that's my point. They actually worked together and discussed and learned about the other person and eventually made things you weren't going to apart. The same as Miyamoto and Yokoi. It's like the internet doesn't understand nuance.
@@ShinobiPhoenix-YT0 ? Why get personal? I didn't mean they weren't close; I merely said it as a fact. A lot of people either don't get along with their coworkers or aren't particularly close and that alone doesn't mean much in terms of Sakurai's ability to choose. The point was that they were so close (partially due to their time as coworkers) that Iwata let his friend (a non-Nintendo employee) revive a series of his choosing.
@@quesobuddy That's the point, your statement acts like you don't understand the difference when you obviously do. There's a difference between being a coworker and what has been called "fighting together in the trenches". I'm STILL friends with people from old jobs that sucked and we practically went to war every weekend. Someone you can rely on is POWERFUL because it's rare. So you hold on those people.
Uprising was probably THE best value for the 3DS. A meaty campaign, an addictive online multiplayer, tons of collectibles, mechanics to master, and scores to smash. It's a feast of content.
And the 3DS game most deserving of a Switch remaster. ❤
It’s an amazing game and is my favorite game for the 3DS. Almost unlimited replay value.
Its only rival would be Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate imo
I still think Fire Emblem Awakening was better.
@@CrowTRobotalthough, Sakurai said himself that it'd be difficult to port to the Switch because of its unique control scheme. The best option that I've seen people consider is using the joycon gyro controls as an input, but I doubt that Nintendo would release a first-party game that can't be played on every version of its console (i.e. the Switch Lite wouldn't be able to play it). sure, Splatoon uses gyro, but the game isn't played exclusively with gyro.
If a Kid Icarus game comes out every 25 years, that means there's only 14 years until the next one! ALL ABOARD THE HYPE TRAIN! 🚂
Hell yeah!
Aboard captain !
Imagine, though, if the next direct opened or closed with a blank screen and Hades voice echoed out “So, you couldn’t wait 25 years to see me again? Well that’s understandable, I guess I can make an exception just for you!” That would be a massive dream come true, for me at least.
You excluded Myth and Monsters which came out on Game Boy. But whose counting?
WE STAY WINNING
I just hope that Sakurai could read so many of our comments stating that this is our favorite game of all time and that he knows that it was worth the troubled development and we all appreciate the work put into this masterpiece
Hell yeah!
He did say he would like to see the franchise on the big team. He just needs a team that can work on it
I play this game to death. Basically, I played it until the shoulder button broke. 😢
Absolutely! It's one of my favorites and I also wish it would be ported so it can be played on a big screen. Sakurai definitely knows what the fans for his games want. It makes me glad that he acknowledged the shortening to Smash Bros 4 for the Wii U and 3ds titles.
@@madre6970Yeah that is great to hear! It's not out of the picture. We could get it someday. Man I would love an HD remake of Uprising!
Please, can someone give Sakurai-san a team to bring this masterpiece of a title to a wider audience?
i dunno why Sakurai just doesn't use Kickstarter with Nintendo's blessing. Platinum Games did it with W101
Dude he clearly doesn't want to do that lmao
He confirmed tha Smash Bros Ultimate was going to be the last game he would make, so i doubth
He Is retired of making games. It's really stressful and he game us so much
@@LoliconSamalikThe difference is that Nintendo did it because Wonderful 101 failed to sell well, so Nintendo gave the IP to them.
This however, isn't the case.
Sakurai wrote the excellent story and scenarios of this game himself? Is there anything this man _can't_ do???
Make people stop misinterpret what he says.
@@Mari_IzuHuh? Did I misinterpret something? He said he wrote it himself at 8:24. If I'm wrong then it'd be nice if you told me outright what I'm getting wrong rather than vaguely alluding to it.
@@Mari_IzuHes credited as the only writer, and has gone on to say that it was better to write during development due to the conversations mid battle to pace it better (also stated in this video)
@@TheBlueWizzrobeNo, they're quite literally referring to something that actually happens (happened?) a lot regarding his interviews, columns, etc.
@@Gabo2oo Oh, well that's very ironic that I misinterpreted what they were trying to say in their comment then lol
The musical timing with the gameplay and dialogue is a really underappreciated aspect of this game. Everything fit together so well, it was like a score to a movie.
Reminds me of xenoblade series. Love the timing in those too.
A lot of people don't know that at the time it was made, Kid Icarus: Uprising had the largest musical production of any game up to that point, involving many hundreds of people! Seriously fantastic soundtrack.
No wonder it's OST is so good, some chapters I replayed so much for the music and dialogue that I have the dialogue pretty much memorized.
For easy reference, this was said by composer Yasunori Mitsuda on the official soundtrack release (as translated by VGMO; June 28, 2014):
*For Kid Icarus: Uprising, though, I felt that using the sound of a live orchestra as our base would be the best way to match the quality of the game itself. To realize that notion, we conducted seven recording sessions, and reproduced the majority of the game’s music through live recordings. Without any doubt, I believe that this is probably the largest-scale production of any video game score to this point. For roughly four months I did nothing but orchestration and recording every single day, but I learned a lot and will remember the whole process fondly for sure.*
*[...]*
*Amazingly, this score ended up involving over 150 people. All of them have given so much power to this score. It is, of course, an important score for myself as well. I hope that that power reaches listeners.*
I replayed A LOT the chapter with the Lightning Battle song !
In my opinion, this is the best game in the 3DS and one of the best, most complete games ever. Guys, go play it.
my favorite game
its a real shame that there doesnt seem to be a team working on it. im hoping sakurai is trolling us like he did with the smash trailers but its unlikely. i hope they start working on it
@@Nakamako1 well sakurai did some leak about KIU on his channel maybe he work on it under our sight like I know is a speculation but I more than belive it will happen but I get your doubt
I have a 3DS in possession and I am in desperate need of the game
@@theenderkirby939If there is a new one I doubt he’d leak it on his own channel. Sakurai hates spoiling surprises
The most anticipated Creating Games video for many of us. Uprising was THE 3DS game to own. The writing, humour and gameplay elements make the game fun to replay. We can only hope for a remaster on Switch or on future hardware.
i can think of plenty of 3ds games that were THE game to own on that system lmao
Yeah Kid Icarus game for nintendo switch is what i wish too
Without a doubt Sakurai's magnum opus and the strongest evidence for the existence of a higher power
@@atre5763 Oh yes, my friend. Search your heart; you know it to be true
And hope for a sequel as well!
The Medusa fake-out has to be one of my most vivid gaming memories, because it was the first time a game had tricked me in such a way and afterwards I felt this rush of excitement knowing the story was far from done
was wild how they built it up to be the final showdown only for us to realize that was just 1/3rd of the whole campaign.
I remember seeing the credits and thinking "Wait, where's Viridi?" and then Hades appeared. It was quite a sight to behold.
same, i could not believe what was happening
@@BronzeAgePepper Okami game in a nutshell ahah 😁
I was confused only because I had watched the trailer for the game like 300 times because of how badly I wanted it so I was really confused when there was no Hades and then bro just ripped the fucking credits off the screen
Words cannot describe how much I want to see this game on the Switch.
I feel like a version with Splatoon’s fusion of motion and stick based camera control would be really good feeling!
Depends on how much longer the Switch lasts. He did say he didn't even have a team ready for any sort of remake, and a straight port would be problematic as the Switch doesn't have all the features vital to the original game.
We can still hope. There's also the chance it might be a launch title for the next console.
@@CarbonRollerCaco The Switch does have styluses available now (for Mario Maker) and maybe pushing some kind of controller styled for it could be nice but yeah overall it'd be a bit iffy on how they'd do it.
Yeah as much as I like this game, there is no way of putting it on Switch without butchering it. If you've actually played the original game you can tell that the quick fix that would be gyro controllers would simply not work nor be accurate enough.
And that's fine IMO - it is something of a shame that there are masterpieces like these stuck on older platforms but the way they've been crafted around the platform itself is part of what makes them so special.
And thus, the Kid Icarus franchise lives on through this video and the hearts of the fans ❤
This game is literally one of my favorite games on ANY console. The day it makes it off the 3DS is the day I buy it 20 times to give to all my friends and family.
The artwork, music, writing, voice acting, and gameplay were all top notch. Best 3DS game ever made.
The carpel tunnel was also great. The developers did not take the system's handling and controls in mind. The only way to play it comfortably is to use the extra analog attachment.
@canadianturtle7240 yea unfortunately.
@@canadianturtle7240honestly i liked the controls alot and only had problems after playing for like 2 hours straight lol
Uprising was absolutely one of my favorite games of all time. This video had me smiling from ear to ear.
I'd love to see a sequel or remake someday.
Kid Icarus is still hands down one of the best 3DS games ever made
Remove the term “3DS” from your comment and it’s still 100% accurate
For real. It’s in my top ten for my favorite games
@@just_an_internet_explorer8038 Same.
100%
Ah yes, my favourite game ever made. Even with the hard controls. Over a decade later, I'm still waiting for a sequel or even a port. Hell, i wouldn't mind them going back to the side-scroller games. I just want more of this world and its characters. But seriously, the music, the writing, the voice acting, the characters, the environments, the replayablity, the weapon variety, the unique difficulty balance and story telling method that blends in seamlessly with the gameplay, it was all amazing. Thank you Sakurai, the game wouldn't be what it was without you.
I just can't really imagine doing it without a double screen, so they may have to wait for a new console
@stephenrichter8940 I've seen people who have managed to do a pretty good job of showing how the system could work on a single screen. They probably would have to rebuild it a little, but the bottom screen has work arounds. The screen nuke can be a button press, the touchscreen can be replaced with the right stick and gyro controls, and the character profiles can be put in a small corner of the screen.
Just 14 more years to wait, as Hades kindly told us. "Oh well, just gonna have to wait 25 more years for the next sequel." or something like that
Dude, the fact that Sakurai himself wrote the story too. Man, this game was SO GOOD.
I'm a die-hard defender of the controls, I put serious hours in on the multiplayer and never had any gripes about the precision, it felt perfect for the crazy pace of online play, and i didn't experience the hand fatigue, but i was a younger man with smaller hands
Kid Icarus Uprising was such a brilliant game! So much depth and fun mechanics. The multiplayer was the best of any Nintendo game. I really hope they can pull a team together for a new one or remaster.
Uprising was a HUGE inspiration in my writing, and now I work in game development! Thank you so much, Mr. Sakurai!
What games do you make?
Please remaster this game if there's a team willing to do it! Thank you for such a compelling video, Mr. Sakurai!
I agree
And use the control scheme from Splatoon!
It's been rumored to be in development by Bandai Namco even before Sakurai started mentioning how much he'd "like to see it come to a new console"
@@RJH755it’s also been rumored that you can unlock Sonic in Melee
rumors mean literally nothing

Kid Icarus: Uprising is simultaneously one of the most overlooked, underappreciated and underrated games ever. Easily one of the best handheld titles of all time.
Overlooked, underappreciated, and underrated are pretty much all synonyms of each other, so it'd be pretty easy to be all 3
"one of the most overlooked, underappreciated and underrated games ever"
That's not true. It has been highly praised many times.
Uprising is my all-time favourite game, it kept my love for Nintendo strong.
Thank you Project Sora and thank you Sakurai.
Uprising was a system seller for me. Still one of the most unique and definitive experiences you can find on the 3DS
I just want to express my love for Kid Icarus Uprising.
Fun gameplay
Fun characters
Fun level design
It had an epic finale, Hades vs Pit was so over the top but at the same time emotional.
Peak gaming
HADES!
PIT!
Hades!
Pit!
One of my favourite games of all time!
I‘m really hoping for a port, or sequel, even if it’s unlikely to happen.
Hopefully, Sakurai will read the comments and see how we'd love a remaster
@@itsaxel8088 That's not Sakurai's call. He's just a contractor that needs his name on the dotted line first. Ask Nintendo or Namco.
Me too 😢
Well the dark moon remaster is definitely a good sign for the future of 3DS gems seeing the light of day again
Sakurai, please bring this game back in some way. Port this to the Switch and I will go and buy a Switch just to play it. Serious.
Everything about this game was perfect. This game was staggeringly ahead of its time. There's still a chance to introduce new people to this masterpiece. For the good of all society, please consider it!
This game is a masterpiece, and my favorite game ever. It brought me countless memories as a kid, and this video really brought me back to how special it was. The charm, the story, the cinematography of the air battles, the weapons, the gameplay, all of it is incredible. Now according to Hades, we just need to wait another 14 years until the next sequel! Counting the days!
Ah! My favorite game of all time. No other game woe'ed me so much as Kid icarus: Uprising. So many new and interesting gamedesign ideas and the game just keeps on giving, even after playing trough the campaign multiple times. For me, this is Sakurais Masterwork!
Wie cool das du hier bist, @Samb 🙌😌
Pure Fakten
Kid Icarus Uprising is probably my favourite game ever made, and I am so excited that I get to hear you talk about development! Everyone go and play this game!
Kid Icarus Uprising is one of my favorite games of all time, and absolutely the best game on the 3ds, so it’s an absolute treat to get to hear you talk about its development! It’s always a shock to hear you wrote it yourself, the writing was absolutely one of my favorite parts, it was so funny and gave so much life to the characters!
I'm so glad to find out that even Sakurai himself wants Kid Icarus Uprising to come back. I'd love to see an HD version on Switch or even a sequel.
I know it's repeated every time the game is brought up in conversation, but KI Uprising is in dire need of a remaster/port. I don't know how I played so much of this game as a left handed kid because the southpaw control scheme is dire. Still, it remains the uncontested best game of the entire console's library in my opinion! It's just such an expertly crafted package.
@@atre5763The game expects you to use the joystick with your left hand, and use a stylus with your right hand for swiping across the screen. The precision needed for your stylus hand makes the game more challenging for lefties. You can set your left hand to be the stylus hand, but then you have to use the face buttons to move link, which has its own set of drawbacks. Honestly, I had to give up after a couple of chapters as a leftie because of how uncomfortable and awkward it was, despite the games quality.

It's unbelievable such a messy developpement produced such a fantastic game with very few flaws. Favorite game of all time ! It literally taught me English, as it's not my native language but I REALLY wanted to know what the characters were saying (these dialogues are gold and the story is perfect)
Thank you and your team for this fantastic game ! A lot of us wish for a port too, even tho after thousands of hours on my precious 3DS it'd be weird to play without the touch-screen controls. It was great to learn about it with you.
This game and the original Kid Icarus always had a special place in my heart... not just for the music, but for the mythology as well.
Also, the fact you got such good voice actors on board to play the scenes, along with Motoi Sakuraba as the Music Composer, is legendary as well. Dark Pit's theme is engraved in my brain!
Now if only this game got a sequel for the Switch in the form of a rail shooter/quest game~
Side note: the very CONCEPT of Dark Pit / Dark Link... is something I wish more games would do.
Kid Icarus Uprising is such a gem ! One of my favorite game of all time. The caracters, the music and Sakurai's writing are excellent !
Kid Icarus Uprising is a masterpiece! one of the best games ever made hands down ❤❤
Pray someday it gets ported to the switch or we get a sequel. (Which is very unlikely to happen 😢😢)
My favorite game of all time finally gets a restrospect by Sakurai himself! Truly a shame that not many people are able to experience it anymore.
It is such a gem full of content, addicting gameplay, charming characters and story, surprisingly amazing graphics and soundtrack, and endless customization.
My favorite game ever. A big thank to the whole that created this gem! I hope we will see this franchise come back in the future. I really loved how cinematic it felt!
This is an absolute treasure of a game, the amount of variety and content put into this handheld game has no right being this good. Its the one series i hope gets another entry or even remake
Great game. The personality and commentary by the characters add a lot.
Ironic how Pit would get a dark palette swap in Brawl which would later become an actual "dark character" in Uprising.
It's a shame how Of Myths and Monsters doesn't get much recognition, especially since it's the only other Kid Icarus game other than this and the first one...
I absolutely agree, but I don’t blame Sakurai for not talking about since it never released in Japan
Kid Icarus Uprising is a really cool game. Shame I couldn't play it, but I showed walkthroughs to my little brother, and he bought the game and enjoyed it. Also, you gotta love how Smash 4 and Ultimate kept the ball rolling with Kid Icarus. It's like Sakurai doesn't want people to forget the series.
One of the most ambitious games no doubt the only thing I wished today is to see concept art or other stuff but 13 minutes of uprising was enough for this year
Big thanks to Sakurai and his team for this masterpiece! It's so fascinating hearing him speak about development. As meaty as this video was, I'm sure he would have had so much more to say about this game. Also I would love to see him make a tribute video of his best memories with Mr. Iwata.
the 3DS is honestly one of their greatest consoles of all time. Had some real fond memories playing on that thing
Favorite single player game by far. I dream for how good this game would be on hd consoles. The weapon designs were sick and they'd look so awesome with upgraded textures
I want everyone to know that Kid Icarus Uprising is one of the greatest video games of all-time.
The single player campaign is the gold standard of action, comedy, and drama. Pit, Palutena, Medusa, Viridi, Hades, and so many great characters and their banter are charming and memorable.
The online multiplayer was addicting. To be the best player motivates you to forge the best weapons. I was unstoppable with my custom Brawler Claws.
I really hope a remaster or sequel would come eventually, because I see so much potential with the Kid Icarus franchise.
Thank you, Sakurai-san for making this masterpiece.
I love how at the end he's like "Shame it's only on 3DS, I'd love to play on a bigger screen with smoother graphics." and I'm like, YES BRO! PLEASE! He is literally the only guy in the world who can probably make it happen.
Don't worry, guys, only 14 years left until the next installment in the series
Pit: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I'm barely qualified to even say this, but hell, I'd join that kid Icarus remake team in a heartbeat. Just because I want to see it done that badly.
Literally my favorite game.
Same ! I still have hope to see that coming one day...
"Even the obvious tasks couldn't get done, and people argued over the strangest things"
There's so much to that single sentence it's unreal.
Hands down my favorite 3DS game! I still remember how much I loved every minutes of this game, I just couldn't believe how good it was.
The controls is what made the game stand out for me; it was new, challenging to learn, but also extremely precise and intuitive.
The difficulty balancing was perfect too at 4.0 - 6.0, and could get absolutely brutal at 9.0!
Kid Icarus Uprising is my favorite game on the 3DS. The difficulty system is one of the best I've encountered and I love how the aggression of the enemies is different based on how many hearts you want to gamble. I also fell in love with the characters and I really miss them after having to say goodbye to them at the end of the game.
Kid Icarus Uprising it's my favourite game and I love this type of content explaining how it was done!! It's still a masterpiece even more than 10 years later, not only for the characters and dialogs, but also for all the content it offers
Thank you so much for making this, mr Sakurai!!
Project Sora created one of my go-to favorite 3DS games, one that has stuck with me to this day. Thanks for making something so incredible.
This game is so damn good and the controls while initially can be daunting, they just feel so intuitive.
My absolute favorite on the 3DS and the game that probably made me love videogames as a whole, by the time I bought this one I didn't even read about videogames, announcements, Nintendo Directs or anything like it, the cover simply called to me
Although I understand Splatoon is their main shooter franchise, I still wish Nintendo gave Kid Icarus: Uprising a second chance in a hybrid console like the Switch, it's the perfect platform for it: great graphics and story at home on your TV, and amazing multiplayer capabilities with your friends on local and online!
To this day, one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. That game is pure gold in every sense of the word. I truly hope we can get a sequel or for this to get the remaster treatment sooner rather than later.
I know this comment won't mean much, but Kid Icarus Uprising was and probably still is my favorite 3DS game
I could go for hours just talking about everything i love about it, but to avoid boring anyone reading this comment I just wanna say thank you for such wonderful memories
I would love to see both Kid Ikarus Uprising and Kirby Air Ride ported to Switch, specially Air Ride, because of the multiplayer nature of the game. And in the case of Uprising, it could be amazing if the game could have an option to use a second Switch (or Switch Lite) to work as a controller for the game to simulate the 3DS experience of using a second screen.
Congratulations Sakurai for making the best 3DS Game ever, I have so much wonderful memories about it
I've played this again in my 20s, this is still one of my favourite games to date. Your multiplayer community hasn't stopped playing, syk ^^
The Kid Icarus franchise held a special place in my heart because Uprising was my very _first_ 3DS game. For a sequel, I thought of some possible ideas:
* A skill tree to enhance Pit and other characters to your advantage (Dark Pit, Phosphora, Magnus and more).
* At first, the main villain is lead to be Persephone, Hades' abused wife. She seeks to bring back her husband because she doesn't want to rule the Underworld and is guided by a mysterious voice to gather the components. The first quarter changes things as she ending up freeing *Kronos* from his prison between existence.
* The Amazons getting involved when Pandora usurps Hippolyta and uses a fire whip in her boss fight. Benefitting to the franchise's humour, Pit gets marshmallowed after freeing them.
* Thanatos returns and the second half of his fight has him assume his snake form from the first game.
* Seeking answers about the Angels, Pit goes to find Polyphemus, the All-Seeing Cyclops. In place of his eye, he has a single flame that shows illusions.
* One of the new playable characters being the once-mighty Hercules. The build up has Viridi literally _drooling_ over the thought of meeting him; she's devastated to find that he's a fat slob of his demigodly self. Doesn't stop Pit from geeking over him.
I really loved this game, and this video was really informative. My most favorite part was definitely the writing and the comedy in this game. As said in the End, a sequel seems difficult to make but I would still love to see another adventure with Pit someday, be it in a similar style to the NES original, Uprisings new direction or even another new style of gameplay entirely. ❤️
I love this game so much!
Kid Icarus Uprising is still my favorite game on the 3DS, as it's just such an incredibly fun experience all around.
This was one of my favorite games of all time and possibly my favorite Nintendo game of all time. I hope they being it back sometime during the Switch's era.
Ah, Kid Icarus Uprising... truly one of the greatest games ever released for the 3DS. Really, the only gripe I have with it is the control-scheme, but other than that, it's a great game.
Can't wait until you cover Smash 3DS & Wii U, Mr. Sakurai! Hard to believe we're almost towards the end of this particular series on your channel...
One of the best 3DS games and one of my favorite games of all time... Me and my friend were obsessed with this game for a while. I still go back and replay my favorite chapters.
This is my #1 favorite game of all time. I am so grateful that I get to see Mr. Sakurai covering this game and bringing it to a much needed spotlight in the modern age. I hope someday we get a reprise of this game, or a direct sequel. I have not finished the video yet, but I may edit this after I finish watching a bit. But I am just so excited to watch the video I had to share some words!
Edit: Finally had some time off work to get to watching the full video! That is so interesting how the reason the circle pad pro was not supported was because the game was already pushing the 3DS's hardware limitations. I always wondered back then why it was not supported in a future update. But funnily enough, in retrospect I am glad it ended up that way because I fell more in love as time went on with the touch controls. Well, I always loved them but I definitely was curious to use the circle pad pro honestly, just because the idea was so novel at the time. Dual analog control on a handheld Nintendo system.
Edit 2: Gosh, I really hope KIU gets its chance to shine again one day on new Nintendo hardware. This game is a masterpiece, and deserves to be on either the switch or frankly even Nintendo's next system (hoping the DS family gets revived with modern technology someday, that would be so great!). Whether it is a remake with a more powerful hardware to develop for, or a sequel, or both. I just know it would be amazing. But, it is nice to hear it directly from Mr. Sakurai that it would indeed be a challenge that requires the right team.
I loved everything about this game. It truly had everything going so well for it; story, pacing, game mechanics, controls, weapons, the intensity system, the collectibles with the trophies with the egg idol toss, the weapon fusion system, the weapon value system, all the different single player and multiplayer modes. This game could have its own entire series just dedicated to each mode honestly!
This was great. Thanks for this video Mr. Sakurai. If there is any way that this game can get it's reprise, in HD, or a sequel, or both somehow. That would be the best thing ever.
The absolute greatest 3DS game and one of the best games of all time
This one deserves the HD upgrade was a lot of fun on 3DS I remember it well just would appreciate dual controller sticks and I’m ready.
I just want this IP to thrive man. If only they had a studio dedicated to developing Kid Icarus, we’d not only get an Uprising remake/remaster, but new games as well.
I love this game! You and the team really made something special, Mr. Sakurai.
I would pay top dollar to get this man working on a remake that put it on the big screen. I still hail this game as one of the most fun titles on the 3ds! The dialogue is so hilarious I never got tired of it.
Even through the struggle, ki:u turned out to be the best and most underrated 3ds game of all time. I hope the sequel drops soon💯
The game's controls is also incredibly easy to get used to. Literally all you use to play the game is 2 buttons and the analog stick. Just use your right thumb for the touch screen. It's always cringe watching people online complain about the controls lmao
I love this game SO much! I really hope it gets remastered or we get a new game in the series!
I am and will always be eternally grateful for Kid Icarus: Uprising, I love this game so much for everything it represents and seeing all the love and passion that Mr. Sakurai put on it makes it even more special. Thank you so much
KI:U remains a masterpiece and maintains the same signature Sakurai flair seen in other games like Smash Bros and Kirby Air Ride. And other concepts like the heavy narrative are taken to the fullest. Everything went right with this game.
DUDE I was JUST replaying kid icarus uprising earlier today, bless you Sakurai
The fact that sakurai similarly to the rest of us wants a remake on a hd console with smooth framerate, gives me slight hope.
These videos are a God-Send, thank you Sakurai San!
Light vs. Dark and Free for all were my favorite online experiences
Kid Icarus: Uprising was definitely one of the BEST 3DS titles. Fun gameplay with lots of replay value, amazing voice acting, and a fantastic story. I would absolutely play a Switch version if it were ever released.
The game definetly was a showpiece. An incredible experience that worked unbelievably well on the Handheld. I really enjoy a lot Sakurai-san's games, but Kid Icarus holds a special place in my heart. Everything about it is outstanding and polished beyond reason.
Now to hear Sakurai-san mention at the end how he'd love to see the game in HD on the big screen... wow that's great to hear! Even if he mentioned that it would be tough to do without a team, i'm sure Nintendo would gladly be providing him with the neccessary funds and maybe make it a launch title for the Switch'es Successor. I would love to see it
Sakurai clearly put a lot of love and effort into Kid Icarus Uprising and it really shows! an absolute masterpiece of a game, I just pray we get a port to a newer console one day so the game gets another chance to shine 💜
I ABSOLUTELY love the Kid Icarus games and one day I hope to see this come to the Nintendo switch!
I always thought Kid Icarus Uprising was such a cool game! Thanks for covering it here!
This is my favorite 3DS game!
An incredible game. I really hope we can get an HD version and a sequel some day.
Man this is one of the best 3ds games ever produced! I always recommend it to people if they ask me for games to play. I hope for a remake for the switch or even a sequel!
I just played through uprising for the first time over the last few months and it's easily one of my favorite games of all time. Thank you so much for all the work you put into your games, Sakurai!!!!!!!!!!
I usually dislike it when Hades is portrayed as a villain (thanks, Disney) but this is one the exceptions because Uprising knocked it out of the park with its version of Hades
It helps that Kid Icarus doesn't really pretend to use real world mythos, just names cribbed from it.
I never clicked so fast
SAME
In my whole life i swear
Same dude haha
Haha SAAAAME!
Kid Icarus is one of greatest games what Nintendo ever made ( and Dark Pit is one of my favourite Smash Bros characters), that's why I want to buy Kid Icarus 3ds game's physical version for my Nintendo "new" black turquoise colored 2dsxl. I really hope someday Kid Icarus game will come to nintendo switch or nintendo switch 2. Sakurai that video was awesome. 🔥🔥
Thanks Sakurai for creating one of my favorite games of all time! I'm glad that this game came to be considering the difficulties with the game and appreciate all of the team you had and you working on it so hard. This game will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I will never forget how excited i was when I heard that "Sorry to keep you waiting!" At E3 all those years ago. Blew my mind that a Nintendo handheld could look THAT good.
We want a sequel
YESSS!!!!! My favourite game ever!!!!
As Mr. Sakurai went over the controls and the dodges, I recall that I broke my circle pad playing this game. Yeah. I too, desire to see a remaster of the game in some capacity. Also the OST is fantastic and I listen to Destroyed Skyworld on occasion, but quite often in SSBU.
Kid Icarus uprising is my favorite game for the 3DS. Not only is the comedy great, but the gameplay is smooth and the weapons offer a lot of variation on how to play it. The Story was also really neat and Hades is probably the best written Villain that has been, before Armstrong hit the gaming community in Metal Gear Rising Revengance.
Thank you for giving this franchise another shot and making this game. It has led to over 100 hours of joy for me and surely many others as well.
And we never got a sequel 😔
He could be working on sequel for the next Nintendo System now that the switch is way overdue.
Or remake
Of course we didn't, we still have 14 more years to go ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡ °)
