We have been riding there once a year in the fall for years. Stunning scenery. We camp in the middle and ride the north half one day and the south half the next. Usually very quiet people wise. Good video as usual.
Your's is the only YT I've ever seen on Rainbow Rim. I did it in Sept. 2016, but not knowing the condition of the roads for my motorhome, I camped at Demotte and rode in and out from there. What a day - 44 miles and 3500ft of gain! I rode to Parissawampitts down to Locust and then back out. I had hope to make to one of the Timp points but it was early afternoon by the time I got to Locust and I had the long uphill ride out. The FS road out goes by the highest point on the North Rim at 9200ft. I was toast after after the 6.5 hour day in the saddle. I'd like to do it again but camp at Locust like you did.
Wow! Now that's a big day! The 18 or so miles I rode was enough for me. But I did regret not doing the final southern section from South Timp, it looks like it might be more scenic, but also involves some of the climb you mention. But camping at Locust was amazing for the views but also once the stars came out at night - and there was no one there!. And earlier in the morning that I rode was the day of the solar eclipse last October. The sun didn't go totally black but it was spooky dark and forced me to delay my ride until the sun came back out! Thanks for sharing your story and for watching!
@@ronsanderson99 If you ever want to come east sometime give me a holler. The riding here is more like riding in the PNW but it is fun. I really enjoy riding out west. So much fun and different than here. Another great video.
Garrett County Maryland Right on the tip of WV and Pa. Lots of great riding out here but nothing like riding out west. More like the PNW @@ronsanderson99
Yes an amazingly scenic ride…a little out of the way but if you’ve got time to hang out on one of the scenic points it’s pretty special! Thanks for sharing your story! And thanks for watching!
Thanks for the compliment! I live in North Vancouver, BC and MTB ride throughout British Columbia. But 3-4 times a year I head south when the weather is warmer and dryer. In fact, I probably ride more days per year down south then I do back home. My favorite places are in Utah and Arizona and have begun to explore more into Colorado, California and most recently New Mexico. So, I get around, and my wanderlust takes me to many fun and scenic places to ride. Thanks for joining along!
Sweet ride. I'm guessing the trees were ponderosas. Pretty predominant in the SW. Just curious Ron, how wide are your handlebars? My new cross country bike has 760mm bars/ 30". My older Top Fuel was a 28-1/2" bar. Can't say I like the wider bars that much. Friend just ordered a new bike and it started with 780mm bars but he had them cut it down to 760mm. Guess I better get used to my 760mm.
Yup sweet ride! My bars are 800mm so a bit wide. It took some time to get used to them but now I like the wider bars but definitely need to keep the width in mind when I ride narrow heavily treed trails. Thanks for watching!

We rode the Rainbow Rim Trail last year and it was a beautiful ride. We camped at Fence Point and rode out from there.

@@ronsanderson99 that's about the widest bars I've ever heard of. I'll quit complaining about my 760mm bars now.
