Best Intermediate MTB trail in Fruita, CO - Steve's Loop
Steve's Loop MTB Trail is a flowy, scenic intermediate loop that follows along the rim above the Colorado River - offering riders amazing views of the river canyon below. After tracking away from the canyon rim, the trail offers several tricky-steep climbs among a large boulder field with segments of fast bermy flow. I would recommend you ride it in the clockwise direction.

Best overall MTB trail in Revelstoke, BC - Frisby Ridge

The Frisby Ridge MTB trail in Revelstoke, BC is one of the most flowy, scenic trails you can ride anywhere! It's ranked #25 in my Top 100 Trail list! Fun, fast and flowy, you will be tempted to rip down this trail, but you will also want to keep your head up to enjoy the fabulous 360 degree alpine views as you descend a long ridgeline from the summit. Hey Ron! We are getting our Van towed to Smithers! We might be stranded there for a few days/weeks so we might have a chance to ride this one! Yay? Anyway, how did. you get to the top? Did you shuttle it? Do you know of anyone in town that offers shuttles?

    • @ronsanderson99
      @ronsanderson99 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Bummer about your van...hope it's not a big repair bill! As for the Backdoor trail, I had my girlfriend shuttle me to the top at the ski hill and then she drove to the parking lot at the bottom of the trail to meet me there. Meanwhile, she did a brief trail run up and back the same trail so she had something to do - while she waited for me. The trail is a legit black if you ride all the features, so it wouldn't have been suitable for her to ride it anyway. I talked to the gang at the McBike Shop about a shuttle and they advised that they didn't know of anyone but you could investigate there again - they were very helpful with trail advice. If you also happen to ride in nearby Terrace, make sure you ride the Shangri-La and Downtube trails - they were fabulous! Thanks for watching, and good luck with your van!

      The interior is well worth a trip…there are so many great riding areas. I found the Burns Lake/Smithers/Terrece MTB trails from a number of videos by Nate Hills. BC tourism had given the towns along Highway 16 some money to market their tourism, and they hired Nate to do some MTB videos. They also created a website for a whole tourism initiative. I also follow lots of others who post videos and make note of great trails to ride…I’ve got a “bucket list” of over 400 trails to ride all over western North America. So to ride them all, I’ve got my work cut out for me! I also use recommendations from Trailforks and advice from my ride buddies who have also ventured afar to ride trails. If you are interested, you can find a number of videos on my TH-cam channel with Top 10 ride lists for some of the best destinations. I love riding in Revelstoke and the Nelson region for outstanding alpine trails. Thanks for watching!!

      I would also add that if you make the effort to drive to the Burns Lake/Smithers etc region of BC, then you've also got to put Prince George and Valemont on the list - they also have many fabulous trails to ride! So ride along Highway 16 from Valemount to Terrace and make it a big, awesome trip! There are still so many great trails I didn't get around to ride in each of these towns that I might do a return trip for next summer!

    Great video! Seriously thinking about duplicating your route next year. How long did it take in total?

    • @ronsanderson99
      @ronsanderson99 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From Vancouver it was about 6,000 miles, including a few short diversions to sight see along the way. Total drive time roughly 100 hours. The road north of Meziadin Junction all the way into Alaska and until you get back to Central BC and deteriorates to an average speed of 70-80 kmph.

    South Central AK has some good riding, mainly on the Kenai, but even Anchorage is building more trials. Hope to see you get deeper in if you make it up again, I’m 3 hrs from Tok outside of Valdez…cheers!

    I used to ride that trail at least twenty times a year during the 1990's for about ten straight years. The sound of riding on the decompose granite is unlike anywhere else. From watching this video, some changes have occurred, but so much is the same. Thanks for sharing.

      Hey Tom! Nice to hear from you...still riding? No, I am back home right now....just completed a big trip to Alaska so will be releasing MTB videos from this trip soon. I have had the Whiskey Trails on my list for a while to ride, but haven't made it out that way...a little off the beaten track. I would probably want to pair that region with an intent to return and ride Oakridge again...how is the forest fire situation in your area? But I am also planning another trip, probably to Colorado in late September. Too many plans and so little time...

    Great Video! (Well, I've really appreciated all of yours! They've guided me to some incredible riding over the last few years!) We seem to be riding in the same age bracket. :) A question: I'm travelling from North Bay, ON(Aug25), through to Los Angeles(sept 3). I'll have potentially 4 days of riding. Last year, you helped me with Hiline and the Hogs in Sedona and all the trails around Phoenix. My dilemma is what trails to hit (solo) from Denver to St. George, given that limited time and energy. Capt. Ahab looks awesome but BIG (too big??). I haven't ridden Fruita/Grand Junction in 10 yrs....., Gooseberry in 6 years..... Any advice?

    • @ronsanderson99
      @ronsanderson99 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the compliment and glad to be helpful! If you can ride Hogs and Hiline then you’ve got to ride Captain Ahab in Moab. I would also ride Porcupine Rim in Moab. In Fruita/GJ you should ride the Ribbon in GJ if you can arrange a shuttle. Ride Zippity Do Dah and Hawkeye in Fruita they are two very different trails. In Hurricane my Fav’s are South Rim and Zen in St. George. That will likely be more than 4 days of riding but there you go. You might also watch my Golden Triangle video which covers these regions: th-cam.com/video/4wx7EDI5W_8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vCKVcLq-_xsbOj6c

      @@ronsanderson99 Thanks Ron. So many good trails! I guess it'll all depend on how I feel with the long drive to get past Denver. Might B line to Moab, rest and hit the Captain, then on to Hurricane. Thanks for the video suggestion, I don't think I've seen it.

    I used to live in North Van. I rode in that area every now and then on a trail that I called Lumpy Gravy. Someone told me it was called that but I think it was this trail. That has to be 15 years ago now.
