I had been dreaming of a 125 Elsinore since the late 70's, a year or so after I got an XR75 as an 11 year old. I saw the older kids ridding them but the XR was a nice bike for the lanky light kid I was. I ended up getting a car and that ended my desire for dirt bikes for the time. Skip to 2000 and that old XR 75 was delivered without notice by my dad when I bought my first home. It had been taking up space in his garage for years. I had to do a little work on it to get it going and the fire was restarted. I bought a 1997 Honda Z50 an a 1979 CR125R within a few years. Still have them all and they are running like tops. Restored a number of bikes from the 70's along the way but only kept the Honda's. Nice bike!
That little XR75 was the little bike that could. With my 80 plus lb buddy on his, (1976), that little thing would hit 70mph. A bit faster than any MX bike I have ever had, including my 2019 YZ250 2-stroke.
I had a new one in 81. Overstock. Beast. Every highschool boy needs one. Though I rode through the Valley of Death I feared no evil bc I knew I was the fastest MF in the Valley!
120 octane av gas makes em throw rooster tails 30 ft high.... friend of ours had one...he would be going down a cotton field in between the rows throwing dirt.... always sounded good...RIP Trent Drane, love ya and miss ya Drano
It is a 29hp, high rpm power, 1979 CR125 with a 200lb plus guy on it. That is the way it runs man. lol But I think the shocks are out of oil. Real bouncy. Nice looking bike. I almost bought one left over in 1980, but I got the YZ instead.

Nope, you had Elsinore's first. :) I can't remember when they were first called CR's, 77,78?
How I wish I can bring my '79 back to life too like this one in the video. Sad thing is, I don't have the resources. Thanks for the video.
