      the soul yearns for teaching, fish love is passing, it is consumed digested and gone....
      but what is taught... it lasts for the rest of your life and continues on, to live in others,
      and into the distant future.

    Animals can do far more than what we like to believe.

    • @frumamohrer9863
      @frumamohrer9863 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but instinctually, not because the animal weighed the pros and cons and made a rational decision to act. Animals can nourish and protect their young, dogs can be loyal and comforting to their owners, even save lives, but they live and feel on an instinctual level, not because they have taken an intellectual decision to act. Some of our own acts as humans are instinctual as a parent's love, etc. Rabbi Twerski knew this but he also knew that human beings can rise above their feelings in order to do great things for others; they can "feel" anger and rise above it and refashion themselves into better and kinder and more patient people.

    One thing that has been lost over time is the sense of community, a sense of belonging, and that everyone had a responsibility to that community, a responsibility to each other. Also, the goal of business used to be to bring a service or product to people at a fair price, and the reward for doing that was financial success. Now the goal of business is to make money, and if that is the goal, then anything done in pursuit of that goal is good. Hence, we see widespread greed and corruption not only in business, but in government and in society in general. Things don't always get better with time. I'm afraid we are on a slippery slope heading towards chaos, and G-d forbid war.

  • @marions.9127

    Dear Rabbi Twerski, I am humbled by your wisdom and appreciate the insight that you give me. I just disagree with one issue. My dog would have given his life for me. He refused to eat, drink or go outside when my mom had a heart attack. He was more loyal and caring than most humans would have been, so I can't deny the devine spark in his soul.

    • @natman0707
      @natman0707 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marion Sepic your dog, as adorable as it sounds, does not have a choice. It is merely a animal/physical or sytematic reaction triggered by your behaviour. We, human, can be treated with most care and love and can still make a choice not to be grateful in return - or the opposite. If i will provoke your dog it will try to bite me and won't try to understand and overcome the natural reaction. I think.

    I appreciate what he says about life in general. His advices are useful to anyone who wishes to become something more. This is not to argue and I imagine him gladly have a friendly debate with me or anyone on whether what he says on animals is true or false but in my view animals do help each other; for example they nurture and protect orphaned toddlers within the herd and yes sometimes they are there to nurture the infants of a totally different kind. Besides, while animals don't consciously look to improve themselfes, they do improve the same way we do through experience. The difference is that we are able to consciously control conscientious self improvement to some extent.

    @sussch What he's saying is that spirituality is spirituality and religion is religion. Religion possesses spirituality inherently--when the concepts of the religion are valued in the first place. But even those who don't believe in religion (remember: Rabbi Twerski dealt most of his career with people who had some problems including with religion) can still tap into spirituality because we so differ from animals, etc. His idea here is to promote spirituality, not necessarily religion.

      Animals do it out of instinct...
      What he means is beyond that, it's planning & thinking about taking those actions... not merely reacting when the situation arises, like in the case of animals saving other animals or humans. When you find a dolphin running a drowned swimmer help club, let me know :P

    Many of the things he claims about animals are simply not true.
    Animals do build relationships. They do practice to better themselves. They can make decisions of what´s right and wrong. etc etc
    But yes, we are very refined animals so of course we have a greater element of awareness attached to those traits. A language to express it more easily. And a tendency to be very impressed with ourselves and boost our egos. Part of our evolutionary path. And, sometimes, a curse. Like everything.

    I have a message that I’m sharing where I can, some may not want to hear this, but I ask that we stay polite and seek truth together. 😊
    Love is an action. Feed the hungry, house the homeless, father the orphan, and protect the defenseless and vulnerable.
    Read the Word for yourself, not only relying on others for guidance. Pray for guidance.Yahushua/Yeshua - His Hebrew name who is usually called (Jesus) taught to keep the whole Word. Including the Law/Torah. Matthew 5:17 “Do not presume that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not [g]the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, until all is accomplished! 19 Therefore, whoever nullifies one of the least of these commandments, and teaches [h]others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever [i]keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Read 1 John. John tells us that sin is lawlessness, and that we must keep the commandments. Trust in the atonement of Yahushua/Yeshua who is usually called Jesus, and keep God (YHWH)'s whole Word/commandments. Revelation 12:17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. Revelation 14:12 Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. Go to parableofthevineyard youtube channel for information about the bible and good bible studies. I'm in no way paid or sent by him for advertising. I just have learned a lot from his content. He's just a man who is trying to learn as well. :) Yeshua died so we may be resurrected to eternal life.....

    Acts 2:38

    I love videos of Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski, he is a wise man. But I do not agree animals are not able of helping each other or a gratitude. Not all of them, not for 100%, but animals are able of an unconditional love, strong loyalty and deep, deep feelings. And on the aother hand we, people, with a proper "push", can be worst then animals. We might get lucky in evolution, but we are not superior or omnipotent in comparison to animals. Our uniuque position in this world does not make us better then animals, it should make us more responsible.
