Your the only person that shows how to do this in detail. Thank you so much. My atv front cv boot was unclamped and while i was pounding a ball joint out some bearings poped out of the cv joint. This saved me from buying a new axle for the atv. Eventually ill need a new one but for now it seems ok still.
Interesting and very useful information presented in this video.- We have just spent many hours trying to assemble the front axle without success, to finally determine that we had to buy a new one. The information presented here has prevented us from purchasing a new axle.
I was changing the front drive shaft cv and bearings fell out I was doing it the wrong way and was losing my mind thank you so much. You have saved my tools from flying across the garage 😂
how to seperate the velocity joint unit from the part that is inside the gearbox ?.....since the other part is held on with internal clip..... tap out with hammer?
You cannot flip over the cage! It goes only one way and that is the correct way. The rounded edge needs to be toward the shaft and the flat edge goes toward the gear-box! Also the new joint was assembled the wrong way. Flat side of the cage always goes away from axle!
Im getting an intermittent clicking around the hub…like every so often…not constant….and an unusual humming whilst driving….whats an indicator of cv issue? 86 vanagon
I hate these things. They don't last. Ball bearings are moving the car. One bit of dirt and theyre history. Rubber boots! lol. might as well be rubber condom. Damn stupid things.

once i had to get a recon cv drive shaft as no new ones were available at the time, lasted 2 months , from that time forward it was new only
yeah we don`t often disassemble reco cv joints...but i do wonder what is actually replaced ? probably just slightly oversized balls?
@@YepThatsIt yes thats what they told me they did
@@closertothetruth9209 new balls and boots and a paint job !
G day,
What vehicle is this cv joint off?
Im getting an intermittent clicking around the hub…like every so often…not constant….and an unusual humming whilst driving….whats an indicator of cv issue? 86 vanagon
It could be your outer cv
Dumb question, Is that significant ware for these CVs ?
hi, any wear you can feel by hand or visualize is usually significant. cheers
You Can Not flip the cage, there is a bevel on the inside(shaft) side and not the outer(Trans/Wheel) side..
thanks for that. cheers
