Unreal. I've been a fan of old kits forever. My absolute favorites were always the B-Club kits from the 80's and 90's. I remember a time when things like Nightingale or Nobel Gundam were unthinkable to mass produce, and now, 30-ish years later, multiple iterations of these and more exist. Anyway, excellent work.
I really really want to try to work on some b-club kits! I'm a little afraid of resin dust killing me but I want to get a proper setup to work on resin soon.
I know absolutly nothing about gundam but it always caught my attention so I really enjoyed every second of the video. Thanks for the insight on your work!
I love this work of art you made. I really wish people would give older kits a chance. I keep seeing so many builders complain about older kits if they have so much as a single screw as if they are unbuildable. If you're willing to customize and add to the kit as a base, the possibilities are endless.
Excellent work, congratulations. I love that paint job, especially on that Dom. The red stripe was a very nice touch. Great diorama as well, right down to the plaplate work. So cool
Thank you!!! I think the red stripe really saved it! Looking back I think I maybe could have added a few panel lines, but hey, there’s always next time!!!
I knew you were an award-winning Gundam builder, but I'll admit I totally underestimated how much work and creativity you put into this. That end result is stunning! Congrats on the win, and the sponsorship, too!
Wow!!! My hat's off to you, this is a superb build, you made such an old kit look incredible and besides that you also made an incredible diorama!!!! Love your choice of MS as well
You did a really good job.one thing you can do about weathering(if you haven't already) is to look at other modelers that are the literal best. Nightshift is one. His layering and adding things is top notch. Plasmo is another. His crazy ability to scratch build things and he usually does it in 72nd scale. I watch videos of every kind of modeling out there. I've done kits of things you have done for others. And getting books and watching weathering videos have always helped me. One of your next steps in weathering(if you want) is micro chipping. For instance a hand. The weathering process alone including chipping or scratches should take at least an hour alone. Why? Your first layer is is all the light scratches from wear and tear. Then they get deeper. 000 brush is your friend along with a sponge. Lol. And on and on. Once you get comfortable with it, you are gonna blow people away. You have the skill set, just gotta push on and not worry about it. Everything can be repainted. Good luck!!
I'm new to gunpla and completely blown away, what awesome diorama yo created. Could I ask for the names you mentioned around 3:55 in the video as inspiration? I'm always bad with Japanese names.
I had this kit when I was first starting getting into Gundam back in the early 2000’s. I lost the hip joint part that held the leg to the hip in the couch we had back then. When I lost other parts from other model kits in the couch is when I finally learned to stop building models on the couch. Anyway when I couldn’t find the hip joint I just used hot glue to hold the leg on to display it. Still have that model but it’s in a shoe box in storage with other Gunpla at the moment.
this was pretty darn cool. There are a couple of diorama youtubers (David from Plasmo and Martin from Night Shift) I follow who are wildly good at chipping and weathering scale models as well as terrain. I've been trying to use Martin's techniques for surfaces like concrete and stone in the stuff that I've been working on
I remember when you first got this kit and doing seam line removal on twitter and dropping some pics on its progress. been one heck of a journey from then to earning a dub with the Rick Dom with the unique color scheme. The diorama with the asteroid reminds me of the video that originally got me into your channel, the GP01fb. Funny how that all went full circle lol, never the less congrats and always a treat seeing you come up with ideas for your kits and diorama. Poor RGM space command tho
Stunning work! I could never spend more than a single month on a build. I enjoy the process of painting and assembly more than the arduous process for perfection and I'm ok with that. I'd love to get better at building dios tho. But after building and painting over 30+ kits, I'm running out of space xD
I feel you on the space part!!! If I want to build more gunpla I’m going to need a bigger place to live! 🤣 I agree, painting is my favorite part. I enjoy planning and modifying kits, but the sanding can be tedious at times!
Wow this is amazing!Do you use all water based paints for this? I have just bought my first airbrush and compressor but i am really not sure what paints to get. I’m between water based and alcohol acrylics. Smell is a bit of a problem for me. Also what primer do you use ? Any help would be great thanks 😀
I was thinking of messaging you and asking if you were gonna make a video about it. This video was amazing and congrats! Hopefully next year ill put a kit in the competition

Yeah maybe I’ll include it in a future video. Basically all I did was pose it how I wanted, flood the joints with crazy glue and then hold it in position until it was dry. Then I let it cure overnight
Quick question: do you build and assemble models, then deconstruct them to paint? Or do you paint prior to assembly? Is it easy or difficult to take the kits apart for painting?
I assemble and disassemble the kit dozens of times while building! Sometimes I even buy 2 kits and have one just to keep as reference for how everything goes together!
@pixxellie Gotcha. I imagine a second model would also make it easier to decide how to volume shade the panels. That's something that's been putting me off from more dynamic paint applications.
Congrats! And great video! I'm really impressed with the customisation you did on the kit. I usually do scale models so my main focus is the painting, but the customisation included with Gunpla is what makes it super interesting to me. Love what you did with the plasticard. Great work! I remember building this kit from waaaaay back. The box art was so sick and honestly the proportions still hold up to me.
I agree! I think the proportions are really cool!
That’s incredibly well done. I’d never have guessed it was an older kit by looking at the finished product, your prep work was immaculate.
Well-deserved win. Exceptional work. That subtle weathering is sublime👌
