    Ruby's Mother wrote: "Hi, I’m Ruby’s mom, Ruby was not hurt during the making of this video! Ruby has had more appointments and her crush on Dr Doug continues. When I first saw Dr Doug on Animal Cracker in June he was working on horses, I come from a horse family, my grandfather was in the cavalry and he also had a riding school, there are four generations of my family that have competed and worked with horses. I was a show jumper for 13 years in England and I still work with horses now. My family used a horse chiropractor several times a year going back to the 1970s it was an important part of the routine care. As I watched Dr. Doug working on the horses I saw him doing a lot of the same adjustments that I saw on my horses and ponies all those years ago, we found the chiropractic work on the horses to be very beneficial and I can see that Dr Doug is very gifted with the animals, bringing them great relief. I was so impressed with what I saw and the way Dr Doug handles the horses that I decided to find him and bring my beloved Ruby to him for treatment in the hopes that he would help her with her pain, discomfort and mobility he has worked wonders with her. We drive three hours each way every week to see Dr Doug and I’m so grateful for all that he has done for Ruby and myself as I also have chiropractic treatments which has brought me great relief, decades of riding and working with horses is terrible on the back. Thank you so much Dr Doug I really appreciate all that you’ve done for us"

    You know a dog is spoiled and treated well if it just won't stop licking you. Ruby is super affectionate. It shows that she's loved and well cared for.

    • @GPAC02
      @GPAC02 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      I think that her licking in this case means “Please stop” in a gentle way, if you pay attention, she often licks his hands when he is treating a spot. Obviously it’s good for her to be treated,and she knows it. She is really educated, she points out the spot where he has his hands on and by licking him she is trying to “convince” him gently to let her go. She knows it’s good for her so she lets him continue. Basically, observing this behaviour on my dogs too, I think it’s kinda like a kid whose hair are being brushed by his parent and keeps saying “mum you are pulling me too hard”

    Ruby shows an incredible level of trust in the doctor. Everyone thinks the licking is cute, which it is, but more importantly she knows from her previous treatments that this man does things to bring pain relief. She is showing her thanks in all the licking. She can't say I feel great and and here's a hug for helping me. Great job working on her. I'm a retired nurse with severe arthritis and have been using chiropractic care for years. Helps me to be able to take less medication.

    • @MayimHastings

      Thank you for saying that! A lot of the licking is a form of communication. Also, and someone with the skeleton of Yoda, i feel you. Glad you found something that helps! Gentle hugs 💖🙏🕊

    After doing a S&R, we would always give the dogs a warm bath, and while they were in the warm water we would do a lot of the massage and flexion exercises that you are going through with Ruby. When they came out, they got multiple heated towels to hand dry, then they would get blown dry as well, to prevent hot spots. After that, they went and laid down in front of the artificial fire in the basement if it was Summer, any other season they preferred to lay by the pellet stove. After covering a lot of miles in a Search, we would pamper them when they got home. Be it a successful Search, or one that didn't end well. We made their dog food and would dehydrate it, so it was very easy to carry in our Rescue packs. Great job once again Doc!! Many Blessings and Stay Safe Everyone!! From Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖💖🇨🇦

      @@AnimalCrackerDrDougWillen Well Doc, the way we were thinking was, Yes, to them, the dogs, it's a game of Hide and Seek. To us, it was a case of Life or Death. They deserved the warm bath, massages and flexion exercises that we did. It actually served 2 purposes though. 1. To clean them up from the Search and ease their aches, and 2. Gave us an opportunity to get really close to check between the pads for a thorn or any scrapes or bruises on them by being hands on. If there was a bruise, trust me, my guys and gals would grump at you when you were looking for any muscles bunching up!!! LOL Have a great rest of your weekend Doc!! @@lolanelson9634 We just did it because of the amount exertion they had put out looking for the adults or children. And to approach the already afraid children, they would lie down and then inch forward. Before the child is aware of it, they have a large dog sharing its body heat while I warm up a couple of packs of instant oatmeal. Because it we are too far from base to make it back safely, I'll put up the tent for the night. I then make a Travois, hook it up to the dog, and pack home we go at first!ight. She's so good! I'm so glad she is lucky enough to get physical therapy! I bet she feels great, it's common to feel "discomfort" during human sessions, and obviously dogs don't understand it's helping them so they let us know when that comfort threshold is but it doesn't mean pain and it doesn't mean they are "angry", she came back immediately for affection

    Dog lovers like Debs (the owner) are part of a very special group of people. They are incredibly loving individuals while also being the TOUGHEST among us. These animals don’t live long enough. We’re forced to endure the pain of tremendous loss within a relatively short period of time. Ruby’s owner entered an updated comment indicating that Ruby passed away in June. I offer my sincere condolences to a woman I don’t know personally, yet I’m certain is the very best of us. Ruby was very lucky and very happy.
