Yeah they did! But, technically, that doesn't invalidate them not being LEGO, because you can also make a clamp shape with fingers/normal hands. And something I didn't mention in this video is that, in the clip where Kai says that Lloyd isn't "even ready to face [his] pinky toe" (4:05), Kai is actually wearing oven mitts that have thumbs!
@@RVSketchI guess nobody uses scissors in Ninjago... but I figured they had to be humans in the style of Lego because if Kai has scars on his face he has to needs to have human skin and blood. (I'm still trying to figure out what's the case with original Zane)
That is a good question do the ninjas see them selves as yellow or as white, black est because the reason they are yellow is so that anyone can see themself as the characters but in there universe I would say that they see themselves and others with real human traits.
The amount of times Cole was referenced to be black. (Zane being surprised about Cole looking white when covered in flour. Or him complaining about still being black after gaining a gi.)
@@averageblackguy777 while I don't necessarily think that Cole is Black-coded, it's not _impossible_ for him to be Black. Some Black people do have straight hair, and he could be mixed.
@RVSketch The Dragon Hunters and people from Shintaro aren't ever depicted as non-human. The Shintaro people's wings are technological or magical in the Skull Sorcerer's case and the Dragon Hunters don't seem to be any stronger or more dextrous than the Ninja. And your argument of only the human characters seeming to have yellow skin isn't right considering that at all times the Formlings, who are depicted as non-human, are always shown to have yellow skin.
@@LevisStories They also aren't ever depicted as human either. For the Sky Folk from Shintaro, they have paper white skin. Other than people with albinism, irl no one has skin that's _that_ white. The Royal Family also have gems on their foreheads - although those may just be ornaments. The Dragon Hunters all have red eyes - I highly doubt they're human. Plus, no one irl has pale gray skin. The wiki itself does list the Sky Folk and the Dragon Hunters as non-human, but obviously the wiki isn't always accurate. You make a good point about the Formlings - they're shapeshifters, so I think the yellow skin is supposed to convey a human form. I'd say they're human adjacent, like Elves in most media. *Edit:* expanding on that last part, I think it's less that only human characters have yellow skin, and more that only characters who have non-human/unnatural skin tones aren't yellow. Any character who would, in any other media, have a realistic skin tone is yellow. But non-yellow is only done if they specifically want a character to be a non-realistic skin-colour.
@@RVSketch Okay so last thing Shade, Obscuria (from season 2 part 2 of Dragons Rising), Killow and Ultra Violet all have grey skin. Sorry if this string of comments feels accusatory btw.
@@LevisStories No worries! You are right that my initial comment that only humans have yellow skin is incorrect. But I think what I said in my second comment is right: Any character who would, in any other media, have a realistic skin tone is shown as yellow. Gray skin isn't a realistic skin colour, which is why those characters have it as a skin colour (even if they might be human). But a character having yellow skin indicates that they would have a realistic skin tone in any other non-LEGO show. I think Shade and Obscuria having gray skin is probably a side effect of their powers though. No offence but why was this important? I know that I never actually thought about that but just a queston about it. At least I learned something new today.
I thought that it was interesting. Whether the characters are LEGO or not is fun to think about, and as a writer myself (particularly one who has studied adjacent topics), I find that race coding in media is interesting and under-discussed. *Edit:* In contrast, the LEGO Monkie Kid characters seem to canonically look like LEGO, as Mei made a comment about not having fingers in Revenge of the Spider Queen.
Even though there are more references to fingers, I swear I remember them playing "Rock Paper Clamp" in one of the early seasons.

Thanks!
Arin and Ephedra are black they have black hair styles and black voice actors and I love it as a person of color myself.
Arin could be Mexican

Cole is mixed in my opinion his dad reminds me of my grandpa
No cole is completely white considering both of his VA are white

What about the characters that have white skin, like the dragon hunters from the first realm and the people from Shintaro?
They're not human. They only seem to animate the human characters with yellow skin.
