I love how every season there's something that causes people to think the Overlord or the Time Twins are back. Sometimes it's something stupid that theorists try to come up with, but sometimes it kinda makes sense like for instance when the really bad set images came out and Rapton looked like Krux and at the same time, the first teaser showing Lloyd talking to Wu before the Merge had a banner or something in the corner that had the Time Twins mantra on it. Although in retrospect, bringing back old villains for the new show would have been horrible, it was a cool and kinda sensical theory lol.
Issue is that people can take small Easter Eggs and references as confirmation, which it isn’t I think the animators like to make fun callbacks, while also knowing it’ll set people off, it’s fun both ways lmao

Dr. Julien was distraught with grief and isolated himself from society to go live in a tree where he would build his son again. He builds Zane with the purpose of protecting those who can not protect themselves to prevent any more helpless people from dying. That's why Dr. Julien turned off Zane's memory switch before he died so Zane could go fulfill that purpose.

The Overlord technically came back right after season 9 because in Harumi’s flashback story during Crystallized, she did reveal that the Overlord brought her back to life and that he guided her so she could help him to have a human like form. This means that the Overlord took most likely between season 3 and 9 to come back.

Even though the source dragons are not evil (or at least that we know) the balance of ninjago needed to be stable after the FSM's influence over the realm, so the source dragons created an immortal being to be the physical embodiment of evil so that the realms balance could be stable. I feel like this could work since we don't actually know how the overlord came to be. It's said he just spawned in or was he made by something more powerful than him such as the source dragons

2:52 as the self-proclaimed expert on Overlord theories for DR, I'll share my professional opinion here: My theory is that Overlord is the counterforce to the source dragons responsible for destroying the realms after they're created, since there is a cycle that was mentioned in S1E20. Becuase who else, a new character that is basically the Overlord but bigger in scale, or source oni and the Overlord isn't one of them? It's important to keep in mind that currently, the Overlord is the *global* embodiment of evil and conflict that was simply summoned to ninjago because the FSM created a realm ridiculously shifted to the light, so it's ridiculous to say he has no global role in this world and is just a local threat that won't ever appear again just because he wasn't portrayed well enough in Crystalized. (That's another theory I will have to expand on, but basically, the golden weapons are weapons of *creation,* not creation+destruction (which is what we consider golden power to be), so we should not be treating them as any more than what was established. This means that the original ninjago island was ridiculously shifted towards the light, which in my theory probably triggered the end of the world which is why the Overlord appeared. This was fixed though, temporarily that is). I could go on for an hour, but my main point is that the Overlord, with access to the entire realm world and knowing how much resistance the ninja put up, probably moved to another realm to build himself up and overrun a realm or two before he goes for ninjago, and eventually, for destroying it all. There is also the possibility that there is a personal balance between the Overlord and Lloyd (as FSM's successor) that was meant to keep the Overlord in check by limiting him to being as strong as FSM (which isn't a lot given the Overlord's likely cosmic origins). Now that Lloyd took on that position though and is growing in power (source dragon conduit and all), it might mean that the Overlord can also become much more stronger than he ever was since the split.
@@MyNameIsWeevie oh I got more Overlord theories like 1) The merge started in ninjago city because that's where the original final battle took place, and maybe where the Overlord first appeared (former is fact because of the stone army being buried beneath the city and the temple of fortitude, latter is my speculation). We know there is a reason why the merge started in ninjago in particular, and I think it's safe to say that it defenitely has to do something with FSM, but the problem is that we don't exactly know whether the merge is a good thing or not, so it's hard to draw a proper correlation between it and the Overlord. My working theory is this: The merge occurs whenever the realm world reaches a tipping point and the order starts to give in to chaos. The tipping point is usually the Overlord coming in to destroy the realm world and causing the chaos that pushes the universe beyond the tipping point, but FSM managed to contain him as described above. The merge was slowly approaching anyway because in one way or another, the Overlord will be unleashed on the world and nothing can stop him (except Lloyd but that's another theory). While he did manage to slow this down by restabilizing the world with the source dragon cores, of course something happened eventually, the world destabilized and Wu was unable to stop it. I already covered what I think happened after. 2) It's not a theory really but rather an obeservation: The Overlord, as said before, is the *global* embodiment of evil. It then makes sense that the eyes of shatterspin users glow the same kind of red Garmadon's eyes glow, which was of course caused indirectly by the Overlord. It seems that any indirect corruption by evil (so the Overlord, because Overlord is evil, if you can follow that) causes those red eyes. I wonder if that gives him some influence over the corrupted... (OMG Enslaved forbidden five working for the Overlord!?) In any case this shows that the Overlord is still in a way involved by doing his job embodying evil. I am doing a lot of theorizing for Dragons Rising in particular lol. Got like 3 more, the one that Arin might be doing a rudimentary form of forbidden spinjitzu is probably the most interesting though.
My thoughts on the merge and the overlord is that now since more people are in the land of Ninjago it’s going to take even more evil to wake the overlord. My logic behind it is since it’s all about balance and now there are more people in the realm and more people have/do good it takes more evil to offset the balance to the point he can return

9:00 this is wrong he does appear to Lloyd at the end of the season but he fades away but it's actually with Cole and Arin in episode 19 that he goes into every portal gate
My theory with the fsm's family's hair colors are just because from oni and dragon genes, one is a creature of dark and the other is a creature of light, garmadon is very clearly more influenced by the oni genes therefor darker hair. Also the actual reasoning is probably just recessive and dominant genes lol but silly series are fun

Overlord has been at bit active since Season 9 when he brought Harumi back. My theory is that when Garmadon was brought back as the destroyer the being that was possessing him at the time he was last Lord Garmadon.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Overlord was influencing Garmadon during the Oni Trilogy, as he was in the city as a demonic ghost due to Crystalized. I also wouldn't be surprised if the voice of "Garmadon" that Harumi wrote about in her kid journals was also that of the Overlord looking to create a new herald...

Spoiler: In episode 19 or 20, in season 2, Wu's spirit splits into 4 and goes to four realms. Cole and Arin also mention those 4 realms. I think that the first spinjitsu master created those 4 realms and the others were obviously created by the source dragons. Sow we might know the realms created by the fsm
i think also when garmadon was resurrected he hadn’t all his memories and he spoke very hard like a mindless demon in season 10 he spoke more fluid like his humanity is reawakening in him
One of my personal theories is that lloyd ages the same way as wu and garmadon, which is why in season 2, misako looks so old compared to lloyd at the beginning, being just a kid. Plus, misako said in season 2 that garmadon was present at Lloyd's birth, so the battle between brothers must have taken place not long after Lloyd's birth, also the battle between brother's could've been the reason misako left lloyd at darklys

For me the last theorie looks more like he was split into 16 yellow glowing orbs and every orb is spread among the 16 monastaries. They activated the portal gates from the monastaries in Ninjago, Cloud Kingdom, Imperium and Mysterium and since they activated 4, 4 orbs are waiting for Cole and Arin at the area with the 16 portal gates. So every time they find a new monastary/the respective portal gate the door gets activated in this room with 16 doors and another part of wus real form gets free and when they found all 16 monastaries wu will be alive again is my take on that
I have a theory that kind of connects to one of these I think Raz master is the overlord because throughout season two they talk about how powerful he was to be able to teleport the wilderness temple and it kind of makes sense. He was just speaking and his master heard him, who agrees?
To disprove the first theory,simply watch how Wu and Misako act around each other in seasons 2-4. If they’d gotten together enough have Lloyd they wouldn’t be acting like this, at least when they first meet again in season 2
That theory probably comes from the fact So sent a love letter to mission but it was intercepted by garmadon and chen and chen convinced him to change the name from Wu at the bottom to garmadon since he liked her too.
Not trying to hate on the arin is doing shatter spin- but the reason why he was angry during the second half of season 2 is cause Raz(idk if I spelt it right) was telling him and manipulating him- and then he found out wu was the reason of the merge- so he was just well- angry
What if the 16 realms used to be one big world before the realms were separated in their own world. However something bad happened which caused or force the lands to separate into the realms something like a great war or an even greater threat that would destroy all the realms. When the merge happens it not only brought the realms together but it's orginal state thousands of years ago.

In the flashbacks, Wu said something about “Only Unity can stop this” and “ family is key”. When the merge came happened it brought the realms together as they needed to be united to face this threat together. Which give the Ninja time to travel and help protect the other merged realms and train a new generation of ninja to prepare an upcoming war that is going to happen
With the arin shatterspin theory, he is doing spinjitzu, but a corrupted version of it. In s2p1, ras says that shatterspin is a corrupted form of spinjitzu. It is established that you need elemental powers and a wolf mask to perform shatterspin (unless you're the forbidden 5). U believe that arins form of spinjitzu is what happens when you do shatterspin without powers or a wolf mask.
When I was watching the dragons rising and heard about the master of Ras I was like 'Oh no not the Overlord' But then in the flashback when Ras met his master it was a yellow light so I thought about Wu, especialy with Ras trying to undo the merge. (Sorry for possible misspelling)

Theory: morro could come back, like, ik he’s dead (twice) but what about the fact that the realm of the departed is a realm, and that the merge has merged ALL 16 realms. Now idk how there are ‘16’ realms when Nya destroyed the cursed realm in s5 causing the realm of jinjago to get destroyed as well. Als well as the fact that to un merge Nya from the sea Aspheera and the ninjas and all took away her elemental power, but when Nyad’s elemental power got transferred to Nya, Nyad didn’t get un-merged. I think that it could be possible that krux and acronix could return as two members of the forbidden five. Do I think it will happen. No, but I have came up with a way to introduce them. The ninja are battling nokt or something and winning but right before they are about to get them for some reason they just stop in mid air, and out from the shadows comes acronix and krux. Then there's at least half of that episode dedicated to a backstory which I also came up with. The time twins crash the iron doom into the period when the forbidden five is rising and tries to conquer something in the now treacherous threes' territory. Which in turn gets them attacked and forced into running away. Later we see them on the move on like a mountain or something and a boulder or something is about to fall on acronix and he has a quick burst of time speed up while krux slows it down for a second and they realize there powers can be re obtained. Switch to quick training montage then they go to fight the treacherous three and the time twins and the three are evenly matched so they team up to take over the world. Any thoughts on the idea?
Theory: lily killed hazadur with spinjitzu burst. We never learn how hazadur died and lily never uses spinjitzu burst to defeat grief-bringer in the flashback, so I am led to conclude that he was killed by lily with spinjitzu burst

It's important to keep in mind that currently, the Overlord is the *global* embodiment of evil and conflict that was simply summoned to ninjago because the FSM created a realm ridiculously shifted to the light, so it's ridiculous to say he has no global role in this world and is just a local threat that won't ever appear again just because he wasn't portrayed well enough in Crystalized.
(That's another theory I will have to expand on, but basically, the golden weapons are weapons of *creation,* not creation+destruction (which is what we consider golden power to be), so we should not be treating them as any more than what was established. This means that the original ninjago island was ridiculously shifted towards the light, which in my theory probably triggered the end of the world which is why the Overlord appeared. This was fixed though, temporarily that is).
I could go on for an hour, but my main point is that the Overlord, with access to the entire realm world and knowing how much resistance the ninja put up, probably moved to another realm to build himself up and overrun a realm or two before he goes for ninjago, and eventually, for destroying it all. There is also the possibility that there is a personal balance between the Overlord and Lloyd (as FSM's successor) that was meant to keep the Overlord in check by limiting him to being as strong as FSM (which isn't a lot given the Overlord's likely cosmic origins). Now that Lloyd took on that position though and is growing in power (source dragon conduit and all), it might mean that the Overlord can also become much more stronger than he ever was since the split.

1) The merge started in ninjago city because that's where the original final battle took place, and maybe where the Overlord first appeared (former is fact because of the stone army being buried beneath the city and the temple of fortitude, latter is my speculation). We know there is a reason why the merge started in ninjago in particular, and I think it's safe to say that it defenitely has to do something with FSM, but the problem is that we don't exactly know whether the merge is a good thing or not, so it's hard to draw a proper correlation between it and the Overlord. My working theory is this: The merge occurs whenever the realm world reaches a tipping point and the order starts to give in to chaos. The tipping point is usually the Overlord coming in to destroy the realm world and causing the chaos that pushes the universe beyond the tipping point, but FSM managed to contain him as described above. The merge was slowly approaching anyway because in one way or another, the Overlord will be unleashed on the world and nothing can stop him (except Lloyd but that's another theory). While he did manage to slow this down by restabilizing the world with the source dragon cores, of course something happened eventually, the world destabilized and Wu was unable to stop it. I already covered what I think happened after.
2) It's not a theory really but rather an obeservation: The Overlord, as said before, is the *global* embodiment of evil. It then makes sense that the eyes of shatterspin users glow the same kind of red Garmadon's eyes glow, which was of course caused indirectly by the Overlord. It seems that any indirect corruption by evil (so the Overlord, because Overlord is evil, if you can follow that) causes those red eyes. I wonder if that gives him some influence over the corrupted... (OMG Enslaved forbidden five working for the Overlord!?) In any case this shows that the Overlord is still in a way involved by doing his job embodying evil.
I am doing a lot of theorizing for Dragons Rising in particular lol. Got like 3 more, the one that Arin might be doing a rudimentary form of forbidden spinjitzu is probably the most interesting though.
My thoughts on the merge and the overlord is that now since more people are in the land of Ninjago it’s going to take even more evil to wake the overlord. My logic behind it is since it’s all about balance and now there are more people in the realm and more people have/do good it takes more evil to offset the balance to the point he can return

My theory with the fsm's family's hair colors are just because from oni and dragon genes, one is a creature of dark and the other is a creature of light, garmadon is very clearly more influenced by the oni genes therefor darker hair.
Also the actual reasoning is probably just recessive and dominant genes lol but silly series are fun

Overlord has been at bit active since Season 9 when he brought Harumi back. My theory is that when Garmadon was brought back as the destroyer the being that was possessing him at the time he was last Lord Garmadon.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Overlord was influencing Garmadon during the Oni Trilogy, as he was in the city as a demonic ghost due to Crystalized. I also wouldn't be surprised if the voice of "Garmadon" that Harumi wrote about in her kid journals was also that of the Overlord looking to create a new herald...

1: Absolutely tf not like whoever threw that theory into this typa show is 🤦🏻♂️ But at this rate, the fact that Lloyd, Garmadon, Wu, Misako & the FSM have caused all the trouble in the Ninjago universe, I can’t doubt it. If Lloyd destroyed the realm crystal in s5 the oni wouldn’t have been able to cross over, Wu is the reason Lloyd was possessed etc.
2: Idk maybe the overlord isn’t a one dimensional character. He’s the rejected version of the FSM which doesn’t matter. I can’t explain it as of now, gotta see more of DR. But him wanting to corrupt creation could mean something..
3: Idk. I don’t think shatterspin completely shatters one’s goodness. You mentioned a hybrid of something, which brings me to a little theory of mine (Arin could be the FSM… no one else has had gold spinjitzu and his voice now sounds like a younger FSM)
4: Of course. Probably why he didn’t actually kill Lloyd. Harumi resurrected him during the oni being in the departed realm (my assumption, due to Garmadon saying he’s seen things and how it was an everlasting night) gonna need Garmadon to come back though. The oni stuff is too important to let go (cough cough oni Lloyd need that again and for the rest of the team to see it and for him to use it effectively and maybe even fight the forbidden five 😭 and I think Garmadon learned shatterspin so another parallel cough cough that depends on what the shatterspin comic shows)

The FSM waged war on the oni for whatever reason, which made them want to plunge all of creation into darkness. Spoilers for this next one:
Rox is Ras’s master, or at least directly connected to his master. Her eyes are the same color as that golden light that pulls Ras and the dojo away and his eyes have been the same color a few times. Didnt she also create the wolf masks? Revealed in episode 19.
Arguably, thanks to the merge, the Overlord can now feasibly achieve his goal stated back in Rebooted, conquer ALL REALMS.

In episode 19 or 20, in season 2, Wu's spirit splits into 4 and goes to four realms. Cole and Arin also mention those 4 realms. I think that the first spinjitsu master created those 4 realms and the others were obviously created by the source dragons. Sow we might know the realms created by the fsm

One of my personal theories is that lloyd ages the same way as wu and garmadon, which is why in season 2, misako looks so old compared to lloyd at the beginning, being just a kid. Plus, misako said in season 2 that garmadon was present at Lloyd's birth, so the battle between brothers must have taken place not long after Lloyd's birth, also the battle between brother's could've been the reason misako left lloyd at darklys

For me the last theorie looks more like he was split into 16 yellow glowing orbs and every orb is spread among the 16 monastaries. They activated the portal gates from the monastaries in Ninjago, Cloud Kingdom, Imperium and Mysterium and since they activated 4, 4 orbs are waiting for Cole and Arin at the area with the 16 portal gates. So every time they find a new monastary/the respective portal gate the door gets activated in this room with 16 doors and another part of wus real form gets free and when they found all 16 monastaries wu will be alive again is my take on that

Not trying to hate on the arin is doing shatter spin- but the reason why he was angry during the second half of season 2 is cause Raz(idk if I spelt it right) was telling him and manipulating him- and then he found out wu was the reason of the merge- so he was just well- angry
What if the 16 realms used to be one big world before the realms were separated in their own world. However something bad happened which caused or force the lands to separate into the realms something like a great war or an even greater threat that would destroy all the realms. When the merge happens it not only brought the realms together but it's orginal state thousands of years ago.

If that happeneds the Ninja need all the help they can get not only for a final battle but to prepare for a war where the realms come together an fight for their freedom. Not like the one from Tournament of elements or from Crystalized but a real war between realms
If Wu really did cause the merge, what if that was for a purpose after receiving a vision from his father of a powerful force that is powerful enough to destroy and take over the realms one by one as they are powerless against this threat only. In the flashbacks, Wu said something about “Only Unity can stop this” and “ family is key”.
When the merge came happened it brought the realms together as they needed to be united to face this threat together. Which give the Ninja time to travel and help protect the other merged realms and train a new generation of ninja to prepare an upcoming war that is going to happen
With the arin shatterspin theory, he is doing spinjitzu, but a corrupted version of it. In s2p1, ras says that shatterspin is a corrupted form of spinjitzu. It is established that you need elemental powers and a wolf mask to perform shatterspin (unless you're the forbidden 5). U believe that arins form of spinjitzu is what happens when you do shatterspin without powers or a wolf mask.

Theory: morro could come back, like, ik he’s dead (twice) but what about the fact that the realm of the departed is a realm, and that the merge has merged ALL 16 realms. Now idk how there are ‘16’ realms when Nya destroyed the cursed realm in s5 causing the realm of jinjago to get destroyed as well. Als well as the fact that to un merge Nya from the sea Aspheera and the ninjas and all took away her elemental power, but when Nyad’s elemental power got transferred to Nya, Nyad didn’t get un-merged.

I think that it could be possible that krux and acronix could return as two members of the forbidden five. Do I think it will happen. No, but I have came up with a way to introduce them. The ninja are battling nokt or something and winning but right before they are about to get them for some reason they just stop in mid air, and out from the shadows comes acronix and krux. Then there's at least half of that episode dedicated to a backstory which I also came up with. The time twins crash the iron doom into the period when the forbidden five is rising and tries to conquer something in the now treacherous threes' territory. Which in turn gets them attacked and forced into running away. Later we see them on the move on like a mountain or something and a boulder or something is about to fall on acronix and he has a quick burst of time speed up while krux slows it down for a second and they realize there powers can be re obtained. Switch to quick training montage then they go to fight the treacherous three and the time twins and the three are evenly matched so they team up to take over the world. Any thoughts on the idea?

Theory: lily killed hazadur with spinjitzu burst. We never learn how hazadur died and lily never uses spinjitzu burst to defeat grief-bringer in the flashback, so I am led to conclude that he was killed by lily with spinjitzu burst

It was 1 year between crystalized and the merge and 3 years between the merge and dragons rising season 1 so 4 years then dragon riseing season 1 takes place across 1 year so 5 years then 1 year in dragon riseing season 2 so 6 years since crystalized so that means the overlord could've reawoken plus ras's master could be the overlord
