Copy-paste from Fox News' fair and balanced (cough) write-up of the story:
_Trent Talbot, CEO of the Texas-based Brave Books, told Fox News Digital over the weekend, "I love situations in which we have two ways to win and zero ways to lose. We forced these bullies to either take off their masks and show their true colors of unabashed anti-Christian and anti-American bias (as well as catch themselves in a spicy lawsuit) OR the bullies were going to realize that Kirk and Brave were here to fight and they would back down."_

When I was fighting for my rights in Canada in the 1980s I could lose my job for being gay. I could lose and did lose my friends and family connections because I am gay. I could lose my apartment if someone saw me bring a man home to my private apartment and reported me to the landlord. I could not rent a hotel or motel room with another man. I could be arrested and imprisoned for having sex in my car parked in what if I were heterosexual would be called a lovers lane. Men caught having gay sex in places which didn’t jeopardize their rental accommodation would have their names photographs and addresses published in the newspaper and identified as sex criminals.
Identifying publicly as gay would immediately bring the threat of violence for being a paedophile and or having AIDS. Gays in the one place in my province where gays could live with some security, the “gay ghetto” in downtown Toronto, were subjected to violence every day of our lives by gangs of men looking to attack gay men. This required the creation of an international organization called the Guardian Angels which in every city in the west with gay neighborhoods patrolled with whistles to warn people of possible gang vigilante violence against us. If you were attacked by a gang the police would do nothing to help you, and if you were hiv + and the violent attack against you drew blood your attackers could charge you with attempted murder for you bleeding on them as they beat you.
I also lived in Britain in the 1980s and 90s and the situation there was worse than in Canada, because all homosexual activity was a crime and you could be sent to prison for 5 years for simply having sex in private.

I dont know if they are a thing in other places, but they are rather popular at, ironically, Christmas over here and, quite often, include a Dame, who is a man in drag. They are also very much aimed at children and never once stray into sexual themes, even if they might occasionally include spicy jokes for the adults who got dragged along. I have never associated drag with anything sexual, if anything, its always been something I thought of as similar to stand up comedy.

The book he is talking about is not banned. He "volunteered" to read his christian-oriented children's book and claims 50 libraries turned him down. He fails to mention any "why", but in the cases I saw folks dig into it was a combination of "we don't have such a program" to "we can't host your religious services in a government funded library". KC did this in response to the "Drag Queens read to kids" stories under the assumption that libraries somehow must allow anybody to come in and read to kids. They said no, so obviously they are giving special rights to those evil people he thinks should be killed. I am guessing he is conflating that with "they will not stock my book".

He and Ray Comfort and all of Answers in Genesis made a big stink about it.
Obviously pubic outcry forced at least one of the libraries to host him, I’m sure someone sponsored his victory and they setup televisions and sound outside for the claim is 2,500 people showed up.
And victory was declared and put the cross dresser reading groups to shame because they only bring in crowds of around 10
and also Kirt or Kurt targeted these libraries because they have those reading programs.

How are homosexuals being suppressed in Canada? Well, not so much any more. Canada has always been pretty forgiving and inclusive of homosexuals.
Having said that, however, even this country did not legalize same sex marriage until 2005. That was only 18 years ago.

What's amazing to me is there have been philosophical discussions about the evidence for God from Christian authors, and callers can't even point to those. Occasionally, you'll have a caller come up with Pascal's Wager, but they don't even know it's called Pascal's Wager or that everyone on AE has probably read Pensées.
They think they're gonna just call in to dunk on atheists with "facts and logic," but then flounder about with the most basic questions. Like...Motherfucker, you couldn't even be bothered to read some Kant or Luther before making a fool of yourself?

Religion takes many forms, and certainly they aren't all bad or equal to one another. Your average religious person in the US might not do anything beyond attending church on the weekend. They probably don't hate people unjustly, and use religion more as a tool to guide themselves, rather than a rigid, unyielding monolith control. That being said, even in the best case scenario this may still lead people to favor something such as prayer over legitimate, practical ways to address problems. (best exemplified in faith healers preventing people from seeking professional medical care) It may also cause people to "other" people based solely on antiquated beliefs, which can ultimately be bad in some cases. (persecution, loss of rights, secondary citizen status, etc.) It can also lead to people believing things that are outright lies designed solely to further certain people's careers or power. It's easy for someone religious to be in a situation where they must choose humanity or God, and in this case, they will likely be inclined to side with God. It's hard to compare your eternal soul to say, backing someone you don't agree with since the direct ramifications of human interaction end at death.

If I had a son who was Trans, a daughter who was gay and wanted to marry, a cousin who was raped and desperately wanted an abortion, a father who was dying because treatment for his illness was unavailable because research had been hampered, a mother who desperately wanted to die because the incurable pain was making living unendurable, a brother who couldn't find employment due to his atheism, another female cousin who wanted to be a catholic priest - the one organisation that would be standing in their way would be the christian church. For your future reference:
When you say "if I had a son who was trans.." you're speaking about a female assigned person who is a boy and assumed to be a girl because of his physiologies and hormones he was born with..
While you're trying to be supportive, your potential son is mistakenly assigned Female.. I hope that is what you mean.
